Nooelec seems to always get my money. They come out with the neatest toys.

Excellent review. This is the price we pay for a "shack in the box" and miniaturization. Old radios had excellent filters, but somehow many today feel this is a hinderance because they can't hear DC-daylight. Then they realize that a filter is necessary and add on a kit. Keep up the great work OM. 73

True, but "Old radios" always had to deal with adjacent channel interference from other sources of interference and used bandpass tight front ends to combat the problem. It's nothing new. @@_NeuroTech_

Now THAT would be a great test. I hope someone on YT does this soon. But, no cheating by using the AI noise reduction. LOL 73@@_NeuroTech_

Great video, going to give this a try with my AOR DV-10 which gets completely swamped on 70cm in my home QTH due to strong local commercial UHF transmissions

My impression is after some testing is that this filter bank has MUCH greater insertion loss then advertised. When inserted my signals become MUCH weaker. Not 3dB weaker - i mean MUCH weaker.

    Impressive demo.
Just wondering what is under the shielding cover. I expect a very clean design, working at such high frequencies.

Great review! Hook it up to your nanovna and let’s verify the documentation.😎. I swear I play with the tech more than I listen to transmissions. I can’t be the only one…😅

I was going to do that, hook it up to the VNA, but NooElec have way better test gear than I do.. :-)

Nice review. Why does it need DC power ? Are there active comonents on board or ist it just to pass through to power other devices and therefore not really necessary for the filter to function ? How can it filter out an unwanted harmonic of a broadcast station if this is falling in-band ? Or does it just block the fundamental of the bc station which would otherwise cause production of a second harmonic due to nonlinearity in the SDR receiver ? Don't forget that the added insertion loss will add directly to the overall noise figure of the receiving setup. It still appears to be a very useful product ! Sorry for so many questions. I really appreciate your reviews and have bought several items of equipment based on them ! I will be ordering one for these filters 🙂

Try Morgan Systems for units that you CAN transmit thru. But I think their models are mainly for HF Bands (80, 40, 20, 10m. etc)

Seems to be this is like 5 separate SAW Filters that you can insert?

Did you find a case or 3D model for a case, anywhere?

I’m interested in what it will do on the input of my 2m repeater.

Thanks for det video very good info.
Question, will it work for air band 108 and 137 MHz?

Yeah good question, what about a filter for every frequency on the spectrum 😝

You forgot to mention how to use this HAM filter with the NooElec LANA(tm) . (Their LNA device). Does it go before or after LANA(tm)? etc.

    • @zach0gr
      @zach0gr 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

usually afaik you put the LNA in the antenna while the filter is near the receiver

What's the problem? My IC 703 works fine in the field with other radios.

Need one for covering a shit-tonne of others frequencies as well
