    Amazing video! I'm starting a BIG rosary project (like the old school Franciscan rosaries) and this is exactly what I needed! 🥰

    I got a bit addicted to making beads on the lathe but I've never carved any so I'll definitely have a go at that.

      Morakniv also makes excellent wood carving tools like a hook/spoon knife for carving bowls and spoons. It’s like $15 on Amazon

      Hi Ron...I have sold most of my blacksmithing kit, but I still have a little....I really want to focus on the leather work, and of course I will always be doing the greenwood work! Sorry!!

      I am the other way around. I sold most of my wood equipment because of a move and am now wanting to try metal just to try to learn something new. Disappointed but I still like your videos, I always learn something. Thanks!!

      Looks like a Morakniv 106 woodcarving knife. The grind on most of their knives makes them easy to sharpen.
      Been using wooden beads for lanyard fobs to attach to pocket knives. I'd love to give this a try with some lilac with a bit of purple grain. Would require the pre-drilling iike with the spindlewood. Alternately, one could use tartarian honeysuckle, which naturally has a hollow where the pith would otherwise be.

    Great vid. I see you use a Mora frost knife? I found one in my fathers legacy toolbox. Almost 40 years old. Blunt, do you (or anyone) have a youtube vid on how to sharpen such a knife?

    Hi Harry thanks for the video, would it be easy enough to make beads from Bay wood? We've just had a Laurel Nobilis come down in a storm!

    • @harryrogers
      @harryrogers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Imogen..yes that should work...I know laurels...not heard of bay wood....as long as there is a bit of pith.

    How do you keep the bead from splitting after it has dryed ?

    • @harryrogers
      @harryrogers  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its a small section so should not split if dried slowly.
