    We've used beet juice powder for years. When my husband had colon cancer that spread to his liver, I juiced 1 large beet, 2 apples and 3 carrots (ratio wise, I usually doubled or tripled). He drank a pint per day. His oncologist was always excited over his blood work. Given 1 yr, lived 3.3 years. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer from the beginning. I believe his nutritional intake made a lot of difference.

      Probably the fresh enzymes are one of the biggest benefits, as well as what we usually think of as far as nutrition. Sorry for your loss, glad you had extra time together and doing positive, happy things like enjoying those foods. Hope you both know the Lord Jesus !

      As far as I know/ heard SUGAR FEEDS CANCER SELLS. My sister passed at only 40 from ovarian -colon cancer that spread throughout her body to the point where she could no longer receive any solids, her intestines were almost shut close. One day she told me “you have no idea how much I wish I could eat that 🍉” so I told her I’ll juice it up for you. She would only drink fruit juice and Pediasure. I feel so horrible but I didn’t now better. Sorry for your loss

    I started weening myself off from lisinopril from daily to every 2days then 3days several months ago. And I started drinking a shot of beetroot, lemon, ginger w/Maca in between which was 1-2X’s a week. I have my work & life stresses, but my pressure has been 116-118/ 86. Of course my doctor doesn’t like what I’ve done, because they want to keep us medicated. Years ago, not knowing much about hypertension, I listened to my doctor and relied on his direction, until I started researching.

    I have really disliked beets all my life. They taste like dirt me. I am 73. I ordered beets from Azure Standard to make beet powder with. They were huge and actually tasted okay. Very sweet. I was grating them onto salad every night and I enjoyed them !. I was shocked. I dehydrated most of them and now I have beet powder to add to smoothies. Thank you for this video.

    Years ago when most were touting kale as a superfood (and it is) I was standing in front of a poster in my chiro's office that showed all the benefits of beets. It was pretty mind-blowing! They're way more nutrient dense than kale! ☺️
    Blessings always! 💜

      Good, I don't like kale - except somehow a cousin's wife made a tasty kale salad last yr - but love beet greens and swiss chard. Turns out spinach really is a lot higher yet in things like Iron, which I need a lot of in my diet ( and I do eat a lot of healthy red meats, grass fed beef and wild venison), but I just rarely have a successful time growing much of that and really like the others better.

    What a great idea to use the beet powder for a natural coloring! I paint and I'm going to try to paint with beet powder. I made a beautiful pigment with butterfly pea flower. You have a beautiful blender! I didn't get to plant my beets this year. Its a new garden and I'm still putting in raised beds. Some aren't even filled yet. I was blessed and was able to score compost from an old mushroom farm! I'm so happy about that. I'm already planning the garden for next year. I did get some beautiful potatoes grown from store bought potatoes that got away from me and sprouted eyes. I had two bags of potatoes that I had put in one of our colder rooms over the winter and forgot about them. I have to say that this method has done the best for me for growing potatoes👏😂

    I just put a long row of beets in my hoop house. The hoop house really makes summer easier as I can spread out my preservation methods and not be stressed out by too many things being ready at once. And, of course, extending the growing season here in winter wonderland NY. I make a beet relish (Ball Blue Book recipe) that I like on salad. I have dehydrated beets and the powder is lovely! But, I didn't really know what to do with it. I put it in my yogurt for a while, then it got pushed to the back and I forgot about it. My pantry is the coolest spot, so often around the Fourth of July I'm doing inventory/cleaning. I threw out the little jar of beet powder, but now I'll make more since you provided me with more uses! I would have never thought of putting it in juice, and I, too, have a cider press and make grape juice. Well, this year the May 18 frost really hit the grapes, but fortunately I have 5-6 quarts from last year. I have two apples on our orchard trees, including the hedgerow apples out in the pastures. Pretty sad what one cold night in May did. But, it's NY, and somewhere, there will be apples! Thanks Heidi!

    Yes!! Beet root powder and beets in all form are a real super food! However, not only the root is good for you... You can also eat the leaves, either fresh in salads or dehydrate them too and make into a powder that you can add to smoothies etc. I've been getting my daughter hooked on vegetable smoothies, since she hates nearly ALL vegetables with a passion. She's been this way since she was a kid and she's 41 now so...
    She's also trying to loose weight and the veggie smoothies are really giving her a energy/vitamin/nutrition boost, as well as helping her not feel hungry. It's a Win Win situation! 👍

    I'm so glad you did a video on this! I LOVE beets!! I forced myself to start eating beets about 18 years ago when I was pregnant with my first child, but for some reason then I thought you could ONLY eat canned cooked beets. I'm not a big fan of canned beets, and it wasn't until about 7 or so years ago that I started eating raw ones. The golden ones are sweet for sure, but I'm particularly fond of the the regular red beets. They truly have the most beautiful magenta color! I love eating them just like carrot sticks. SUPER tasty, and the juice (and I'm sure dried powdered beets) give most foods such a pretty color. I love using them (and/or rainbow radishes) to turn my pickled eggs pink. I'm sure some people are going to freak out that I don't cook them (I don't cook corn either! Especially if I grow it myself), but I'm 40 and have learned that not only are most veggies much tastier raw but significantly more healthy and more filling raw. I love when I find the good organic ones with long leaves still on them. And I never really considered the health benefits of them, but I definitely feel much healthier when I eat them regularly. I particularly find it amusing that some people do freak out over eating root veggies raw strictly for the fact that eating carrots raw was once considered a very abnormal thing and that "only horses" could eat raw carrots (just as once upon a time in US history, oats were strictly a livestock food and people never ate them, but now we know they are very healthy for us).

    • @palominogirl2732
      @palominogirl2732 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Loved the way you threw in horse stuff! LOL! Actually though, not all horses like carrots. One of my older horses that has passed loved carrots but would not eat apples, which was handy when they were falling off the trees in fall. Too many apples from dropped ones can make horses (and cows) sick. Right now I have a Standardbred that hates carrots but loves apples. Interesting tidbit: I have never, in 50+ years of horses, had an animal that doesn't like licorice. I even bite off tiny pieces and give them to the dogs. I buy it at Tractor Supply, the kind from Australia, and aside from being a sweet treat we all like, I have used it when I have a scratchy throat. It has a slight numbing affect (or effect, I can never remember which is correct!)

    Many, Many Thxs Heidi for this very Informative/Helpful video! I have been having some health challenges and have been having beet root powder w/and w/o ACV up to 2x a day and sometimes w/psyllium. That w/two hawthorn berry caps makes a big dif in blood pressure reading. Because the effect of the nitric oxide in the beet root powder last only @ 12 hrs this mixture has to be taken two x a day. ……..Even so, I love beets and eat them many ways including the tops and in soups. Since finding beets help the heart and more I decided to try out a product called Cardio Miracle and it has beet root powder and a plethora of other healthy ingredients in it! Cardio Miracle is pricey but taking it only now. I take it 2x’s a day and it really keeps BP stable and much lower! This also keeps me off prescription drugs much to my cardiologist surprise. Also, I Keep a blood pressure log and take my BP 2-3 times a day!
    Will take the pure beet root powder mixture now if I run out of Cardio Miracle or it is not available because of unforeseen events! Always good to have a plan A,B and even C!

    Great idea to put it into an organic juice. It does look absolutely delicious.. and all those benefits are fantastic but I will say that if one thing that we have to do every single day and I'm sure there's more than one thing I've been a nurse, a holistic nurse, but worked in intensive care units and traveled for 27 years, don't know how I worked in the secure system basically trying to train people how to do things holistically and stay out of a hospital,
    but the inflammation - people have no idea how the inflammatory process causes everything from heart attacks to cancer. In our sick care system it will tell them all these other different reasons but the truth of the matter is it's more likely due to inflammation caused by poor nutrition or stress, etc..
    and as far as liver health - we better be detoxifying our liver daily, and I'm not talking about a major liver talks that people do they can actually make them sick. I'm talking about a daily natural liver detox. We have to do it because of the environmental things that are going on in the air that we're breathing, the processed foods and things that people eat ( personally I don't touch processed food)! and of course there's other issues that affect our liver health. For example, if there's gallbladder issues bile duct issues, it all affects the liver and there's many diseases obviously that affect the liver besides liver disease so I daily natural organic high in nutrition, drink, tincture whatever to detox the liver daily in a healthy way is the way to go. Thanks for the video and educating others that may not know and even teaching me some things. I really appreciate it. I always want to learn. I'm like a sponge when it comes to that and then educate people and of course what they do with that information is up to them.. trying to be responsible and get people to do the right thing I have found over most of my life and I'm 63 that they're gonna be non-compliant or they're not gonna do it they're not gonna do it and why compromise my mental and physical health because of it. learn the very very hard way to my own life where the seed is planted. Yes, I can nurture in water it, but when it comes to others, we plant the seed and they are responsible. I am looking forward to what your take is on the beet root from aszure Standard, because my Anthony's powder which is wonderful I love it is not quite halfway down the bag yet, but I wanted to purchase some more and if you like the other better I'm willing to give it a try.

    Don't forget the greens. Their nutritional benefits are great. They can be eaten raw in salads or cooked like spinach. I harvest mine and dehydrate them for later use. They can also be mixed with any other kind of dehydrated greens for a green powder to add to foods or smoothies.

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, when I grow them, I use the greens too. I have made kvass using both the beets and greens and I believe I showed a photo of that and I also dehydrate them and put them in my mixed greens blend: th-cam.com/video/w2oeewjIKsQ/w-d-xo.html

I've been hearing about the benefits of beet juice and looked into it and WOW, the cost, so I put on the back burner; I've watched your channel before, but it's been a while; so I saved it until now, so I would have time to look at it! I am experimenting with those white and golden beets. I've sliced them into thicker slices and dehydrated them. I'm going to see if I can make kvass with them, after having been dehydrated. I understand it can get bitter when using shredded/dehydrated beets, so we'll see how this turns out. I'm hitting the farmers markets hard, getting fresh produce that I can't grow, and then dehydrating as much as possible.

    Oh my Heidi. Did the forces that be, change their policy from last week? I hope so. Anyway, I've made the kvass with white and another batch with golden, beets. The flavor is amazing - so much better than just red beets. I know that about the only thing these colors are lacking is the lesser amount of betacyanin. That's OK, I can still boost that by eating the red beets. It's just less messy eating the red beets, than it is splashing beet juice all over the place 🙂

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Which policy are you referring to? We can still talk about health related topics, there are only certain ones that are banned but remember that videos like this are typically shot 3-6 weeks prior to them publishing.
      One thing about red beets is they are going to be much higher in antioxidants due to their strong color. This is found all through your produce and includes blueberries, blackberries, and so on
