Greatest Running Season Ever! We couldn't do anything else but run the ball. Every Defense knew we were going to run the ball. Every Defense prepared for us to run the ball. ALL DAY
Also, the last 6-7 games of the season, AD was running with a sports hernia that he said was a 10/10 in terms of pain by week 16. Dude still averaged 160+ yards per game over that stretch. Utterly ridiculous. Dude was a fucking beast.
The crazy thing about AP, is everyone knew they were going to run the ball. The Vikings had no other offense. And he still got over 2000 yards. Truly a beast.
Honorable mention to Alex Smith. He wasn't that good in reality, but to come back after near-amputation, and leading his team to the playoffs deserves a lot of credit!
Its about the overall success in the comeback season. Yes it was crazy that Alex Smith came back, but it wasn’t like he made a great playoff run or anything. Was just impressive that he was even playing
@@Tylnorton cool, I understand and acknowledged that he did well. But I also said what the video had said, it’s about overall production and success. You want to be right so bad you’re missing the point all together
I know it's only been half the season, but Geno Smith deserves a spot here. I bet most casual fans had no idea he was even still in the league, and now he's got the Seahawks in first place.
I rarely see videos giving praise to Matthew Stafford. Thank you NFL films, you are all true legends. He's hands down the most underrated QB in the league. And has been since 2012.
Swear to all deities that back in 2012 if AP had just an average QB to face less stacked boxes he would have ran for around or over 2200 that season. No offense to Ponder, still a legendary season regardless.
As a Titans fan I thought Henry would be the clear frontrunner for CPOTY this season but there's so much competition! Geno, Barkley, CMC. They're all deserving of it so far
NFL THROWBACK, I got you fam! 2001 Fred Taylor went down with a torn muscle in his groin in week 2 against the Tennessee Titans. The injury would cause him to miss 14 games that season. He came back in 2002 and started all 16 games and rushed for 1314 yards and 8 TDs. He caught a career high 49 receptions for 408 yards which gave him a total of 1722 scrimmage yards. Side Note: Fred Taylor missed 55 regular season games, which equates to almost 3.5 seasons. He retired in 2010 with 11,695 yards rushing, which ranks 15th on the All-Time rushing yards list, right behind Thurman Thomas and Franco Harris.
Ken Anderson had an Insane comeback season in 1981. He was awful In 1980, then had an mvp season the next year, leading the bengals to their first ever super bowl
In 2022 Brian Robinson (a rookie) got shot in the leg a week or 2 before the season started. The fact that not only did he play this season, he did so at an elevated level. Kudos
Eric Berry was something that could’ve been special. He could still be playing honestly. Prime Berry was special. 2018 Berry was his last year and he got to see the start of something special in this Mahomes guy. I seriously will say there will never be another QB such as Mahomes. Josh Allen is for hoes who hate Mahomes, Allen can’t make the type of throws Mahomes makes. Brady can’t even compare to Mahomes. Mahomes will be the next goat
I may have the minority opinion here, but I honestly think a comeback season where someone plays incredibly poorly the year before is a lot more impressive than an injury-riddled season. A lot of the players who have great seasons after season-ending injuries were already huge stars before that, so it’s honestly not as surprising as it seems when you think about it. But to completely elevate your game and talent after looking dreadful the year before, that shows a lot of commitment to improving on your struggles. But those are just my thoughts, and I totally understand why people might disagree with me.
Well damn... That beefy hit Kellen Winslow took after catching that TD pass was brutal looking, but seconds after pops up to celebrate. My what a different era of football

This was another masterfully done retrospective. While I was watching, I was really excited trying to guess who was going to be on the list. Some of these comebacks I vividly remembered, others I had completely forgotten, and a couple I had no idea about. Great seeing Garrison Hearst on there. What he had to go through for the two years he was out had to have been really tough, but he kept working, and was able to make a remarkable turnaround in 2001 at the age of 30. Two more 49ers that made great comebacks were Jerry Rice off his ACL injury in 1998 at age 36 with another banner year, and Fred Dean returning strong way back in 1983 with 17.5 sacks after a groin injury greatly diminished his production, and time in 1982. As always thank you for the content, and I'm anxious to see what is next on the horizon for the NFL Throwback channel.
