This reminds me of the FPB series except the stern of the FPB curves in like on a battleship, while this one’s broadens a bit like some sailing yachts.
FPB is a system that works very well. What I really like about them the others have not done is the large monitors that you can look at a glance and get a quick overview of everything.
What a great explorer yacht, I love the stylish interior decor as much as the capabilities and range. I hope she'll come and explore the SE Asian region one day! Thanks for sharing another wonderful VDO David!
These types of videos are good for me and you. The information will make me a better buyer and give you a edge when sales come up. Never knew about the rib yacht.
You just won't see this kind of video on any other yachting channel. I loved the super techie and detailed stuff. Cooling/heating copied from a penguin - damn!
Really love this approach, that goes into understanding the concepts and techniques behind a yacht builders production and the yacht's design features. Excellent video in sharing how very well thought out the Arksen Explorer yachts are.
Damn this was a tech savvy episode. I mean we are learning about penguin ankles, Non-reflective light sensors, making scale models and a man that just wants to innovate, build yachts and send people exploring. Jasper is my spirit animal. Besides Luke Hammond that is.. M/Y Bella captain and an awesome guy. Jasper should hire him. And Brennan Dates to design the galleys. .... to have a vision of a complex product and make it a beautiful reality is a victory of the human spirit... this team is amazing ( the animation at 2:00 was really cool )
Are you familiar with the Dashew boats that were being built for a number of years? I believe the owners of retired now and stopped building. Their entire purpose was to build boats that surfed at all speeds. also boats that could be safely operated by the owners and enclosed areas in poor exterior conditions. Do you know how these boards compare to the Dashew? The design the look of the boats they look almost identical.
Yes i agree, as the vessel was revealed I though, my goodness the Dashew's are out of retirement and back in business, whatever - the FPBs are just outstanding, i hope these are too! I wish them the very best of luck. They need to get Sue and the Berthon team on selling and caring for those.
Thank you. Same here, I built in 1984. Since I live in the PNW the object is to warm the incoming cool fresh air with outgoing warm, but it's hardly a revolutionary concept. Also I have to say that the style of these vessels is derivative, trendy, and butt ugly. They have the same sort of contrived not-at-all-genuine-edginess as rap music and anything to do with the Kardashians.
0:35 WOW, best hangar doors ever!! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 Without a doubt, one of the most interesting videos you've ever done (and that's saying something-whilst I don't care for many of the vessels you present, your videos are always a pleasure to watch). Hi David. The IOW is aperfect place build an explorer, with the atlantic ocean for sea trials. Arken are building yachts with safety, strength and luxury. The range of 7000 nm and all the innovations provides all the bells and whistles. Great walkthrough video tour thanks 😊
What an exciting company and vessel!!! Seriously. Can't decide if I like Bering or Arksen better. Do you think they would build a 125' or 145'? Something with 2 salons, sun deck above bridge deck, and 6 staterooms with one more for crew or kids without galley Will be self piloted with help. Live and work aboard. Need the area behind the helm in the wheelhouse designed as an office to run a consulting business. Have list of priorities but not ready for details, just curious if you think they would build a vessel very similar to this in the lengths mentioned. Enjoy your channel! Thanks!
Great project! I recommend AESUB Scanningspray. A matting spray which you apply prior scanning. It enables the scanner to capture also the aluminum surface. After the scan it disappears by itself automatically.
I live in Southampton, so know that building very well. Only 5 miles via Red Funnel. David if you still in the area. You most welcome for a cuppa. Love to meet you oneday. This company reminds me so much of Bering yachts. Innovative, Safety to the hilt e.g 12mm Hull instead of 6mm. Lloyd's registered vessels are the pinnacle in design. As much as I get companies, that are using other nationalities for flag registration etc. I think any company that uses Lloyd's is a company you can trust. I love Bering, and looking forward to Nautistyles 'Rico and Victoria's' B75 being built. Seeing how all their dream list will be incorporated into Alexias amazing product. Now I'm saying this about Bering, cause I can image Arksen having exactly the same capabilities. As I live locally. I would love a tour when the 85 is complete. Being a 50yr old disabled British Army Veteran, battling multiple degenerative physicsl and mental health battles. It might take time to overcome my extra on top health issues before I could travel. So it might still only be a dream to visit. I have worked in many jobs (Jack of many master of none lol). During my time at Aerostructures in Hamble I started as storekeeper, then sheet turner/conductivity tester. Then semi skilled de-burrer. Then semi skilled heat will specialist (unfortunately I was about to start my 4th Yr in the dept and was on the internal semi skilled to skilled training). I was experienced on all heat treatments (Solutionising, Precip, Natural Ageing, Hardness and Conductivity, Tri acid etching, and other roles like death greaser machine). So know how strong and diverse Aluminium can be. I think it will be an amazing yacht. Part of an amazing concept.
As others have said, it really looks to be based on Steve and Linda Dashew's FPB design. It even has similar flopper stoppers, although, as noted by others, the stern is slightly different. I suspect it'll blend aesthetics with functionality a little more so it appeals to a wider audience than the FPB's did, not that they weren't successful in their own right, nor were they utilitarian on the inside, quite the opposite in reality ! It's said that "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" I wish them well.

It would come down to cost I suppose, but the Arksen is a more sophisticated concept with lower operating costs. The Bering might hold up better in the long term, but that is as yet to be verified. Were I in the market I'd go Arksen. The thing is we might be comparing a 3 million boat to 6 or 8 million. How much does an Arksen cost? The FPB's this is based on weren't cheap.

Looks like a great concept for the coast guard, great for rescuing people & plenty of space to store rescued animals including large farm animals. Something with more capacity than a RHIB while being able to go places where a 400 foot cutter can't go. For instance what if you come across a horse, a bear, or some deer that was washed into the sea? You wouldn't want to try to get a bear into a helicopter, you could lower a tanning platform, let the tired out bear climb onto it and rest, and while it was laying down exhausted a veterinarian can tranquilize it so it could be moved to a cage & transferred to a wild life rescue center. You could have a bear, a bunch of dogs & cats, and a large number of people transported in one trip, try doing that with a helicopter or RHIB.
Impressive David. Your videos are Broadcast tv quality. Filming, editing, narration. For a TH-cam channel? Looking at exterior, is this yacht using Fairing? Expensive.
