My former husband and I almost purchased one of these used. I think it was silver but not positive. We were absolutely in awe at how luxurious it was inside but since neither of us had ever heard of one, he made the choice to go with an 82 Toyota Corolla (from those nice people that brought you Pearl Harbor) on which we put loads and loans of miles in and I hydroplaned in one rainy night slamming into a guardrail and flipping it upside down. We literally could not kill the thing!!

Man this car brings back memories. My father had an '82 Challenger with 5 speed that was black and decked out with the four spoke alloys, rear window louvers, rear wing, curb feelers and headlight grills. Man I loved that car when I was a kid. That door chime and sound of the big four cylinder engine is what I remember most about that car.

My brother had one. Same year. Same color with the 5 speed. Nice car. He traded in an '81 Colt(too small for his 6'5" frame) with the twin stick, that was a blast to drive, especially when splitting shifts.

You don't see too many of these anywhere much anymore. I can't even remember when was the last time I've seen one of these in person.

Back in the early 90's i had the 1983 Dodge Challenger. It looked like this but black and silver. I was maybe 19 or 20. First car i bought with my own money.

+Darron Carter , I thought that they quit making this kind of Dodge Challenger in 1982.

I owned a used 83 Sapporo and it was a really nice car. The paint faded on me after the third year. One of the oil seals blew out on me and it was never the same. It was a 5 speed manual and it was my pride and joy in 1985 to 1990.

I have always loved the sound of that door chime, like the Hyundai's and Nissan's sounded in the 80s and 90s

    • @chrismc410
      @chrismc410 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Subaru chimed like that too. In the 80s, Nissan and Fuji Heavy Industries were sister companies and a lot of Nissan's electronics went into Subaru. To this day, you look for spare key blanks, chime modules back then, it will say Datsun, Nissan or Subaru on them. Even the 1986 Nissan OEM key blank with the appropriate Subaru part number and except the company logos, are identical

What an awesomely rare vehicle. I would love to swap in a small block or maybe some odd-ball engine. Real sleeper material right there. It certainly has a good look to it for being an '81.

JDM Mitsubishi 2.0-liter 46G63 Turbo would be the only fitting engine upgrade for this vehicle. Same engine as its stablemates the Galant Sigma and the rally-going Lancer 2000 Turbo.

This was the 1st dirt track care i drove. If id know they were the same as Galant. I would never have scrapped the engine. It had headers, valve work. Mikuni carb. Man it was fast. Removed Iddler time cams and shorten timing chain 2 links. gain 20hp.

I had a 1982 Sapparo. My seats did exactly the same thing. They all split on the seams. My car only had 50k miles on it and the seat centers were in shreds. Other than that it was a nice car. Mine was a 5 speed and actually had cruise control. I also had the 6 speaker sound system with a cassette player.

Nice car mate. Yes, as one poster said, it's a Chrysler Sigma Scorpion, or a Mitsubishi Sigma Scorpion towards 1979-1982. You certainly have shown great, well looked after examples of old cars. If I had room, I'd have taken that Plymouth Sapporo off your hands, and had it sent to me here in Australia. The left hand drive is no liability. Hats off to you Nathan.

As I remember, I added an electric fuel pump in-line just out from the tank after the heat from the exhaust mani was effecting the machanical action of the engine mounted diaphram pump & fuel flow here in the Houston smashing summers. Breezing along, the heat would flush down and rearward but when it came to stop & go traffic, the fuel would begin to boil.

I miss that beast. MCA Jet Engine sticker in the back window
Last pillarless windowed car I can remember.
I fit twelve people in this car constantly to save my friends from riding the bus home.
The low end torque made this car a sleeper at lights.
My wheels looked better, must've been an upgrade.
My stepmom couldn't get it in reverse the first day off the lot. She didn't know about pushing down. It says it on the stick! PUSH for Reverse🤣
