Great review. I have no dog in the fight, I own Mathews, Hoyt, Bowtech, Prime, and Bear. Like all of them. However, it is always funny to listen to fanboys of certain brands try to downplay another brand and avoid truth. It is pretty obvious when a reviewer/channel is being paid somehow to push a product, yet try to hide that fact. What makes it obvious is they normally end up saying something untruthful along the way. The truth is, this year, Hoyt made the most changes of ANY major manufacturer. Here is the list of Hoyt changes: New riser (aluminum) New limbs New limb pockets New strings New cam 1/4" draw adjust on cam 75-85% on the cam Adjustable back wall on cam New limb legs Quiver can be mounted closer to the bow (aluminum) New colors/camo Mathews made the following changes: New riser New limbs New limb pockets New strings New cam New colors Those are great changes from Mathews too, but they are not MORE changes than Hoyt as many other bow review channels (thankfully not yours!) and Mathews fanboys are ranting about. It is also nice to Athens and Darton making waves. After all, the best woman shooter in the world shoots Darton. Thanks!

Blah blah blah... we get it, Mathews spends the most on marketing. BUT WHAT IS REAL? THAT. My friend, is why we keep coming back to you. God bless, shoot straight, looking forward to the next one.

Dude loves this bow though, whata the one he said unt uhhh wasnt gonna pull that shit again same weight ( goes to show draw cycle is huge)..... LIFT that money out ya wallet and get an Alpha while lifting your middle finger if they really tested on 80lb limbs thats dirty
Brandon. . . . We love ya buddy thanks for all you do. But, the 8 out of 10 for tech is not accurate. The whole cam system is stolen tri track cam systems. The roller guard is fixed. To shim the cam is the most dated design of the major bow brands by far. Mathews top hats dont fall out and never move once set. The bowtechs and athens can move the cam with a turn of a allen head screw. PSE has clips for the shim system. Imo their tech is dated badly and other bows do it better, alot better and the grip isn't my friend.
Eh, I’m a Mathews guy typically but at the end of the day it’s about what gets you the best value for your money and what feels best in your hands when it’s time to take that shot regardless of brand.
yea im a mathews guy I own hoyts as well ,PSE and Bowtech but after shooting the new bows at my pro shops the lift is by far the better bow imo. it was also faster then 95% of the reviews I have watched what we saw on the 29.5 at 70 pounds checked with 3 scales that where calibrated 85% let off 30 inches without a peep 350 grain arrow 341 fps over and over.....man who cares what folks say I watch just to see the bow and hear your thoughts on the bow. I dont care what your chrono says or the noise meter just wanna hear your thoughts as a bow hunter.. thx for the reviews man keep em coming
Wow I can't believe you catch shit for your chrono! In my opinion it doesn't matter if it's hot or cold, the important part is that you use the same one for all your testing so you compare everything equally.
I have purchased every new mathews for past 8yrs. This year i picked the Hoyt RX8 over the Mathews Lift. To me the hoyt draw cycle was alot smoother all the way threw. I set the hoyt at 80% let off.
Shot the alpha X 30 today head to head with the lift 29.5. The mathews is fantastic, however alpha x for me is next level. Went with the Hoyt. Was blow away with the shot cycle. My bow was at 71.3# and it felt like 60 with next to no shock or vibration. I will be rocking this bow for a long time. Also, love seeing that subscriber total on the rise. Best bow reviewer online.
I'm thinkin about to get the alpha x as my first compound bow. I use 35lb on my traditional bow, the archery shop recommended me the 60lbs for this one. I don't have the chance to test it before, what would you suggest?
Nice review, no extensive shop talk just good outdoor footage showing the bow in action. For 3D archery and target use, think the Alpha X33 is better than the X30?
I love your reviews there dead honest and try to ignore all the dumbasses in there basements trying to critique every little thing just ignore em. Your doing great
According to the literature, the alpha x is quieter than the vtm, according to your tests they average the same. To your ear, was the alpha x any quieter than the vtm? Thanks for for what do, it's very valuable information!
I had a limb peel away at the edge on my VTM… Hoyt doesn’t warranty that because they are saying it’s my fault and I hit it on something. I love their bows but if they don’t stand behind them idk that I’ll buy another. It’s a hunting bow and their limb design on the edges is not as robust as others since it isn’t smooth and radiused. Hopefully they improve their customer service/warranty as well as their limb design.
I shot the Mathews Lift 33 and the Hoyt Alpha X 33 back to back an hour ago. The Alpha X was so much nicer than the Mathews. It drew so much smoother and I felt absolutely no hand shock. I'm picking it up from my local shop Saturday afternoon. 🤘🤘
I really like your reviews but I can't watch them when my granddaughter is here because of all the f bombs,I guess that is the new normal for all the young guys,it doesn't make the review any better.
Shot the alpha 33 and the new lift and lift was a touch quieter but the Hoyt just draws way smoother and shoots just better it feels like a straight arrow flight and it has absolutely the best grip out there!!
Mathew's grip is horrible. I shoot hoyt, mathew's, elite and have experience with athen's. I was gonna sell my mathew's because of the grip and just added the beereal grip and that made a huge difference. I'm not a mathew's or hoyt fanboy as both have caused me headache. I still gravitate to hoyt because of the grip asthey have the best grip in the industry.
Cheers for tge video man, I ordered the alpha x 33 in tombstone it will probably hit Australia around Christmas, can't wait, my pse mach 34 with s2 cam, I usually shoot 27.5 on the mach 34 I shoot 28.5, on my hoyt rx5 ultra I shoot 28 I think they aren't measuring their strings very well out of factory, I'd prefer to have the extra inch or half of rotation so I can get more abit more speed.
Okay you might be the only honest guy reviewing bows. So I will ask you if you would do something. At 50 yards with a paper scoring target. Shoot the 2023 bow of the year against the 2023 budget bow of the year to see if they are really that much better. You could then put a value on each point. But to find someone to honestly do this might be impossible but i hope you look at this. Hand shock is not even noticed when shooting at a animal so just a point thing would be great.
Thanks for the reviews. It's like getting an honest review from a friend who doesn't get bogged down into too much technical stuff. I tested a few this weekend: pse, bowtech and this one. Apparently the lead time for a mathews is months and there wasn't even one on house to try. I think I'm going to find another place to check that one out, but the alpha has so far been my favorite. Might even skip trying the lift
I've been to the Pro Shop and shot tested both Alpha X 33 and Lift 33 and the Alpha X 33 had the best overall feel. Your comments helped answer other questions I had and also informed me about other things I did not know about the Alpha X 33. Love these honest reviews, keep it up.
Bro, just bought the Alpha X ultra! I also currentley have the Ventum Pro 33! Love your review and knowledge to know I made a great purchase! Take care just subed!!
Just bought an Alpha X yesterday in the tombstone. Was the smoothest shooting bow (IMO) out of every top brand this year. Can’t wait to get it all set up and start shooting. Love your reviews man!
Would like to see the decibel test with a drop away vs the Biscuit. Nothing against the biscuit, but in my experience, they do throw off a little noise of their own..thanks for the review. Always appreciate your content 👍🏼
i fully agree with you on the speed testing and the manufacturers who inflate numbers as if we do not have chronos to check for ourselves ...and masses of followers just blindly believe the numbers which are quoted...one standard for all should be used ...i think its ridiculous that 10 to 12 fps is kind of acceptable ...PUSH THEIR BUTTONS ...until they become honest....GREAT REVIEWS
Just subscribed after watching your video. Currently have a 2017 Hoyt Defiant 34 and had won several 3D/indoor state and local tournaments (Senior 50+) with it, but I think it’s time to upgrade. Haven’t seriously shot since 2018, and just started shooting again, so the Defiant is back out. The drastic change in prices are the only thing holding me back living paycheck to paycheck. I just turned 60 and am more concerned about comfort & repeatability vs speed. I can’t afford to buy a new bow every year, so I’m looking for something that’ll hopefully be solid for the next 5+ years. I’m about to watch your video on the Bowtech SS34 which is the other bow I’m considering. Having shot both would you lean more towards one than the other for 3D target shooting. Love your honest no bullshit review! Take Care!🤙🏾
Chronograph speed lol? Weird the omnia is still running in your top speed test @300,301,302. 302@500gr is worth keeping my omnia to hunt with as its significantly faster than the 2023 flagship bows and at 32" ata its still the perfect do all bow. Hoyt left a bad taste in my mouth with my carbon defiant turbo having major tuning issues and my rx4 turbo shared tuning issues and 9wks to get warranty work done. Goes the same with mathew's having to buy 3 different draw length modules @60$ each plus top hats @60$ plus blowing the strings out in under 1000shots. My gauge is my omnia that has shot clicker counted arrows @4500 arrows with the factory strings without issues. Your mileage may vary but my omnia has shot 390gr arrows all summer switching to 370gr arrows for hunting. I'd like to see hoyt or mathew's last 4500 arrows without issues on their 23 bows before I get excited.
Back in the day AMO rating was 540 grain, 60 pounds, 30” draw. If you would go back to that rating it would level the field. Note: AMO changed their name to ATA.
Hey brother thank you for all you do for the ones that's really undecided on a bow When I get ready to buy a new bow I always watch you to see what you say about these new bows Thanks again
Great review. Before seeing this video I went to my bow shop and spent hours shooting Bowtech, Matthew’s and Hoyt. At the end of the day Hoyt Alpha X. Never thought I would buy one but that Hoyt Alpha X took the show. Hardest part now is waiting the four weeks for it to come in.
I’ve shot many different bows but have only bought Mathews and Hoyt. I’m not a “buy a new bow every year” kind of guy. I’m still shooting a Mathews Traverse and have a hard time believing that the new bows shoot better than the Traverse. BUT, after the season ends here in IL in mid-January, I’m going to start shooting the new bows. Was dead set on the Lift 33 but now I’m going to have to give this one a shot! Thanks for the awesome reviews!
word on the street is that this bow shoots IBO speeds at 29" draw. You should give this a try and see if its true. 29" draw is at the top end of the 2nd draw length module and it gets a boost in performance.
My problem with the whisker biscuit is I shoot to much. The hairs wear and can change your tune. Also Darton does their ibo speeds with a d loop and a wb so they what they advertise is very close to what you actually get. 60 degree Saturday, snow on wendsday sw mo lol
First time watcher, great vid, with great range in the back yard!! Just got my new alpha x 30. Shot the lift, prime, bow tech. All amazing bows. Alpha x felt best for me!!
Great review but i am not a fan of hoyt. On my rx4 i bought new in 2019. The carbon raiser cracked wright were it went into the metal limb pockets. Hoyt did Not want to give me a new bow. But my dealer told them it was a manufacturer problem. And they sent me a new bow but it took 7 weeks. I shoot the new Mathews and love it.
This is the first video of yours I’ve seen. Dude, way to go! You’ve got a new subscriber here. I like that you shoot a biscuit too! I shoot one and see no reason to change.
Thanks so much for your response, just subscribed mate. Was it draw/shot cycle that made you think Hoyt is way to go? Ethos seems a bit quicker, lighter and SET, but a lot of guys here in Australia like Hoyt, I think for durability and hardiness but is that your experience also? Really sweet channel mate, I've been checking out the other reviews too. I shoot a traverse but like the elite/Hoyt this year.
True just not necessary I get guys in the shop stressing about what someone told them and I’m constantly letting them know if it’s what u can afford now it won’t hinder u as much as they say
I just bought a Hoyt Alpha X 30 this is my first flagship bow ever. I shot almost every bow at my local shop my top 4 was the CoreSS, Alpha X, Elite kairos and Prime Ronan all great bows but shooting them back to back the Hoyt Alpha X was the best to me I shoot only 55lbs but with the Alpha X I was able to shoot 60lbs with little strain the others I struggled and got fatigued easy. To me the Alpha X just felt so good in the hands and the draw was so smooth and easy perfect bow for me! Money well spent for my first flagship bow!
@BackyardBows No problem I been doing research and watching your video's to get more information and finally saved up and went and shot them all and fell in love with the Alpha x thanks for the video's keep up the awesome work!
I shot both and bought the alpha x 30.i have only a 28 inch draw length.i shoot 80 pounds. With my setup of a 28 inch dl,470 grain arrow at 81.5 pounds I'm getting 294 fps with over 90 pounds of kinetic energy .I strictly saddle hunt .this bow is so easy to draw at any position. Great review brandon.👏.
Who else has watched 20 hours of bow reviews only to realize their 2 year old bow is great and you don’t NEED the new hotness? That being said. Because of your review. I will be looking at a discounted prime rvx or hoyt alpha x in a year or so
@@BackyardBows love your review style so and tastes in bows so I think I’ll be happy with either the rvx or the alpha x or even Ronan if they com out with a shorter version. After having a prime centergy I miss that center grip on my elite
I’ve got a farm out in Pacific with shooting range. Can get you access to a LabRadar & new Garmin Xero C1 Pro - if you want to do a side-by-side speed test on some bows. Just LMK. Keep up the good work.
Order that bitch with 80lb limbs and max the draw length for the speed test for apples to apples... This bow is SWEET and has the old Alpha DNA obvious, wish i could afford it and all of ots accessories...
Its a fine bow im sure . Hoyt always makes a great bow. But its 10fps slower than what they say( just like every company does) which really isnt a big deal it shoots plenty fast , is super quiet and im sure it feels great. I own a vtm 31 .
Man I seen several tested that wish they were 10fps under Jesus it's bad this year since he is 30 at 70lbs on 440 id bet its pretty close with a drop away and 350gr arrow to 334
@@ShawnGilbert1967 true. But I d be willing to bet with those numbers hes only getting about 320-325 . Out of my vtm 31 70#/28” shooting 320 grain arrow i was only getting 315. And all the videos Ive seen confirm the speeds. I see one guy out of 30 getting what manufacturer says ….. im not believing the one. Im going with the majority. Just like if im sighting in arrows and i get one that hits bullseye and 6 hit left….. im not throwing out the six and leaving my sight where it is.
@tonyviers-de9qi what's funny is I just watched a video where the 33 LIFT got exactly 324 which is well under their rating but only 9 under the Hoyt, Jesus this shit is rampant...that bow is rated at 343...gets 324....the hoyt is rated at 333 and got 324...I could live with that easier...buy a speed bow I expect a speed bow ( I will say that dudes 450gr is a few fps thru his chrono than Brandon's 440 out the Hoyt Mike maybe 4fps)... I'm trying to recall so far its what the Bowtech SR that's come closest to it's speed rating across channels.... Mathews may mean witj their 80lb limbs, I would be curious at 80lbs and 31 inches who's bow is faster AND easier to draw...since this really is just a 2 horse race...
I'd like to see who has the best integrated on brand accessories in looks, cost and performance... So if you outfit it with THEIR IMS rest, Pic sight and stabilizers ect which is best and added cost for bonus or ding of points
All nice bows this year. I will say you have the fastest Alpha X 33 on the planet. Shooting faster than other test at 450 grains. Impressive being at the bottom of the mod and getting those speeds.
Hey man , I promise your chrono is off . You go ahead and live in that world if you want. Thing is , you’re getting mad at everyone for calling a spade a spade. Its ok to be wrong man . Lighten up
I just chrono’d this bow with the L33 yesterday in my pro shop and got nearly identical numbers. 465gr arrow- 70#, 29.75”- 288fps. That was with 85% LO. His numbers are legit.
@@BackyardBows what if weight wasn’t an issue I’m a big dude 6’2 240 lean. Buying my 1st bow and I’m torn between the 2. Found them both for same price ?

I F'ING HATE FACEBOOK TOO!🤣
BTW...That was yelling!
I've been to the Pro Shop and shot tested both Alpha X 33 and Lift 33 and the Alpha X 33 had the best overall feel. Your comments helped answer other questions I had and also informed me about other things I did not know about the Alpha X 33. Love these honest reviews, keep it up.
Love to hear it thanks for sharing
Carbon Bowes might be lighter, but the vibration is to much thats why i like aluminum better
The way carbons are made now it’s almost the same
How does let off adapter affect draw length? The smallet let off the shorter the draw?
Yes and we’re talking quarter inch
Bro, just bought the Alpha X ultra! I also currentley have the Ventum Pro 33! Love your review and knowledge to know I made a great purchase! Take care just subed!!
God those are both great bows right there brother appreciate the follow
Just bought an Alpha X yesterday in the tombstone. Was the smoothest shooting bow (IMO) out of every top brand this year. Can’t wait to get it all set up and start shooting. Love your reviews man!
Dress her up and send us some pics congrats great bow
Would like to see the decibel test with a drop away vs the Biscuit. Nothing against the biscuit, but in my experience, they do throw off a little noise of their own..thanks for the review. Always appreciate your content 👍🏼
Great suggestion!
Thank you for your time effort and passion for making these reviews. You’re top notch sir I greatly appreciate it.
Dang i subbed for the truth thanks brother you rock!!!!!
Yessssir
You've always done a great job with all your reviews. Been following from the beginning days. Keep up the good work man!
i fully agree with you on the speed testing and the manufacturers who inflate numbers as if we do not have chronos to check for ourselves ...and masses of followers just blindly believe the numbers which are quoted...one standard for all should be used ...i think its ridiculous that 10 to 12 fps is kind of acceptable ...PUSH THEIR BUTTONS ...until they become honest....GREAT REVIEWS
Bro, with the F bombs 😂 My young daughter is watching
My bowtech ss34 blew up on me. I bought one of these. Amazing bow. I love everything about it.
Great review! Appreciate your approach and drive to always improve your process! Keep it up, brother!
I’ve just gotten into archery/bow hunting I lover your reviews👍🏻
Man I love your reviews, good laughs. F Facebook haha
Appreciate the time and money that you put into these reviews, Brandon! Best reviews in the industry.
I always love your honesty and reviews brother! I am actually ordering one of these soon!!! Can't wait to get it!!!
Hey brother thank you for all you do for the ones that's really undecided on a bow
When I get ready to buy a new bow I always watch you to see what you say about these new bows
Thanks again
Great review. Before seeing this video I went to my bow shop and spent hours shooting Bowtech, Matthew’s and Hoyt. At the end of the day Hoyt Alpha X. Never thought I would buy one but that Hoyt Alpha X took the show. Hardest part now is waiting the four weeks for it to come in.
Best bow reviews on TH-cam. Thanks for all the content
Thanks for sharing…love the reviews 👍🏻
Thanks!
I love ur fukin reviews, and i also fukin hate Facebook😂😂. Your reviews are fukin spot on. Great work bro. Keep it up man
I’ve shot many different
bows but have only bought Mathews and Hoyt.
Great review, been trying to make my mind up on the purchase of a Alpha X 33 , You just did it for me ! Cheers Brandon🙂
An honest review. About time someone isn’t paid off, Or have bs grading systems.
I like the pse fortis 33 probably be my next bow.
Saw you have some Missouri gear in your garage? Where you located ?
What are your thoughts on the Bowtech SS34 vs the Alpha X 33?
First time watcher, great vid, with great range in the back yard!! Just got my new alpha x 30. Shot the lift, prime, bow tech. All amazing bows. Alpha x felt best for me!!
Very nice been loving mine
This is a great channel. I think you do a nice job on the reviews. More people need to subscribe
Hopefully you’ll be able to review the Alpha X 30
Great review but i am not a fan of hoyt. On my rx4 i bought new in 2019. The carbon raiser cracked wright were it went into the metal limb pockets. Hoyt did Not want to give me a new bow. But my dealer told them it was a manufacturer problem. And they sent me a new bow but it took 7 weeks. I shoot the new Mathews and love it.
I would be pissed glad they finally fixed
This is the first video of yours I’ve seen. Dude, way to go! You’ve got a new subscriber here. I like that you shoot a biscuit too! I shoot one and see no reason to change.
🙏 great time to get on board we have alot to come
Glad im not the only who gets tired shootin a bow lol
Just ordered a 70 pound blackout alpha x 33 after this review! Can’t wait!
Send pic once u get it all dressed up 💪
Dude if u can find one, u should get a Easton bow draw force mapping system.
I would love that
Difficult choice between this and the ethos i reckon, thanks for your reviews, the SET tech may put the elite over the top? What do you reckon mate?
If I had to keep one would be the alpha x off the top of my head got to hunt with the ethos and loved it wish I could have with the alpha x
Blk Mba Pro??
If you don’t care about pinpoint accuracy and / or competition , biscuit is fine . But it is not even close to as accurate as a good drop away
Love this feedback thanks for sharing
@BackyardBows No problem I been doing research and watching your video's to get more information and finally saved up and went and shot them all and fell in love with the Alpha x thanks for the video's keep up the awesome work!
I shot both and bought the alpha x 30.i have only a 28 inch draw length.i shoot 80 pounds. With my setup of a 28 inch dl,470 grain arrow at 81.5 pounds I'm getting 294 fps with over 90 pounds of kinetic energy .I strictly saddle hunt .this bow is so easy to draw at any position. Great review brandon.👏.
That’s a great set up and speeds
@@BackyardBows thanks. Please never change. Your reviews are the most honest of anyone.
Who else has watched 20 hours of bow reviews only to realize their 2 year old bow is great and you don’t NEED the new hotness? That being said. Because of your review. I will be looking at a discounted prime rvx or hoyt alpha x in a year or so
Lololol this got me 😂
@@BackyardBows love your review style so and tastes in bows so I think I’ll be happy with either the rvx or the alpha x or even Ronan if they com out with a shorter version. After having a prime centergy I miss that center grip on my elite
Missouri winter has been warm for sure! Suppose to have a high of 60° this week in the NW
Crazy right
I’ve got a farm out in Pacific with shooting range. Can get you access to a LabRadar & new Garmin Xero C1 Pro - if you want to do a side-by-side speed test on some bows. Just LMK. Keep up the good work.
Yes that sounds like something I would def be interested in
@@BackyardBows Or, I could bring them down to your range or the range you work at on Saturdays.
Should I get this or the Hoyt Z1s for my first hunting bow?
Alpha x hands Down
Great video. Can you tell what release your using in this video.
Spot hog wise guy w/ boa strap
Why are the new bows heavier now? My Hoyt Vecter 32 is 4 lbs.
Just a guess more mass in the limb and limb pockets
Alpha x 33 for the win
Great line. “I hate fucking Facebook”
Love these videos and this channel. Raw and Real!!!
Excellent review man
All nice bows this year. I will say you have the fastest Alpha X 33 on the planet. Shooting faster than other test at 450 grains. Impressive being at the bottom of the mod and getting those speeds.
Preach! Never change
Could you do a review on the mission mxr ? I’ve heard it’s great and It might be ur new best budget bow would love to see that vid
Great review
Hey man , I promise your chrono is off . You go ahead and live in that world if you want. Thing is , you’re getting mad at everyone for calling a spade a spade. Its ok to be wrong man . Lighten up
Send me a new one 😂
😂
😂😂
I just chrono’d this bow with the L33 yesterday in my pro shop and got nearly identical numbers. 465gr arrow- 70#, 29.75”- 288fps.
That was with 85% LO.
His numbers are legit.
Incidentally the L33 was setup with the 29.5” mod, 70lbs and clocked 284fps average over 10 arrows.
That is a beautiful dog!
🙏 you should see his puppies
Did you play with the backwall firmness? Im curious if theres a big difference.
Yes noticeable for sure
Just bought the alpha x last night
Would your prefer the alpha x33 or the rx7
If I was spoiled I’d clime in with the rx7 and alpha x 33 from the ground or blind
@@BackyardBows what if weight wasn’t an issue I’m a big dude 6’2 240 lean. Buying my 1st bow and I’m torn between the 2. Found them both for same price ?
@@prestonlarson6202 with your draw length 31? Def the alpha x 33
