- She was the only child of the destined heir to the Austrian Imperial throne and one of the most notorious members of the Habsburg family. Becoming known as her grandfather, Franz Joseph’s, favorite grandchild she would use that position to marry the man she wanted. Later in life she earned herself the nickname “The Red Archduchess” for her involvement in the Social Democratic Party. Born an Archduchess of Austria, she was simply known as Elisabeth Petznek by the time of her death in 1963. This is the story of Archduchess Elisabeth Marie of Austria, the only child of Crown Prince Rudolph of Austria.

Thanks for wonderful informative video! I learn so much from your videos! I’m going to be honest I didn’t even know Crown prince Rudolf had a child! All I heard was of his unhappy marriage to Princess Stephane.
Thanks for watching!
agree I always enjoy the video's especially about the history of royalty we dont hear much about
Beautiful
Child such a sad life
Great video. I learnt quite a lot!
Thanks for your work! ❤
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
😊 Excellent videos.
Thank you! 😃
Rudolf gave his wife Syphillis
How come
Yea that’s pretty well known
It was Gonorrhea not Syphilis
What a selfish creep he was. A evil person
Her father was a big time creep
She was very beautiful.
All Hapsburg brides renounced their dynastic rights to the throne before their wedding (no idea why)
Why didn’t you mention that Elisabeth Marie’s maternal grandmother was Marie Henriette *of Austria*?
Just one thing…it’s pronounced “ven-er-e-al”…….not veneral
Why was she buried in an unmarked grave?
She wished for that in her will :)
Did she? I wonder why.
I really enjoy your videos, so thank you for your hard work and research. I am intrigued by your accent. May I ask where you are from? I am going to guess Danish or Norwegian but I'm probably completely wrong 😊
@@carolannemckenzie3849 Switzerland! So it's a German accent you're hearing
But a very soft, pleasant German accent. Mine is Scottish. We are a global community bound together by our love of history 😊
@@carolannemckenzie3849 Dane here, and I think the Scottish accent is the coolest one ever...yes, I love watching "Taggart."
