I was 11 when I heard this for first time..I was at rolling skating rink and when a slow song came on, of course it was couples skate time. I always shied away from it because I saw myself as an ugly kid and I usually went to bathroom during that time to "hide". But then a beautiful girl tapped me on the shoulder and asked to skate with me. We did, but I had long hair then and her parents didn't dig that so I never saw her again...I went every Friday nite and prayed. She never came back.

This song is hard to listen to. I high school, I ran with TK. In college, he was dating a cross country runner at Iowa State. On Nov 26, 1985, she was killed in a plane crash. TK was truly lost with her love and took his life. I was on the ISU campus too, I wish I had know what he was going through. This song brought all those memories back.

Used to go parking with an old boyfriend and we would have a "Bread" tape in the tape player. I love my husband more than anything, but a song by "Bread" can always but a smile on my face.
I don't think it would make your husband smile...or think you "love him more than anything". I think hubby needs to know about why "Bread always puts a smile on your face"...he deserves to know what his wife is.
...but how lucky you two were to have had such a special love. So glad you shared it with us. I think Mother Teresa had it right...we all just want to love each other.

He was 37 and she was 35 years old. My Buddy had a love relationship you'd never seen before. Such love between the two, beyond belief. Just over a year after the beginning of their relationship she developed terminal cancer and was given less than a year to live. What devastation! That being said, their love grew even stronger. On the night she passed away she was in his arms and the background music was playing. As she spoke her last words, "I'll always love you," this song started playing. And tears just flowed down our eyes. We have never forgotten this song, which of course reminds of her passing. BREAD...such good music!
This used to be one of our favorite songs that someone who was so very special to me loved listening to & if she ever reads this she will know it was from me after all these years. I always liked that guitar break. Its a very “bread’ish” guitar solo if that makes sense. It adds to the song in its own dissonant way. Lol

This song is hard to listen to. I high school, I ran with TK. In college, he was dating a cross country runner at Iowa State. On Nov 26, 1985, she was killed in a plane crash. TK was truly lost with her love and took his life. I was on the ISU campus too, I wish I had know what he was going through. This song brought all those memories back.

ive listened to bread since i was like 5 years old (my dad used to listen to bread since he was like 8 years old), now i am 20.....year by year i listened to this music.....still, every time i hear, it stills touches me greatly, somehow if it was like the first time. Bread is music that stays for ever....not like the trash young people listen to these days (like lesbian justin beiber)...everybody forgets about those songs after a small amount of time.

My father raised me on 70s music, its so beautiful and its beauty definitely stands on its own. cannot be compared. but just as 70s music was seen as new young rebellious and misunderstood by older generations so is rap. music taste is fully developed by the age of 20. I will always have a special place in my heart for 70s music

Bread's music is so much loved is because they sing about the greatest thing anyone can have and or loose. I was 10 years old in 1970. I was exposed to many of these songs and have held then close to me all my life. To have a great love in your heart, even if it is not returned or even rejected can change your soul for the better only if that love does not turn to hate. Hate is the destroyer of all things. Love is way of the Creator. It is better to have loved and lost...well you know the rest.
