Started watching the 1970s episode's and got hooked......not loving these ones as much though but I might just watch it up to when Bet leaves :-).

Love when Rita pretends she’s got something in her eye when she’s dying to laugh! She did it when Mavis’s budgie died too, when Mavis and Derek said about giving it a private burial, in the Rovers! Even Bet was struggling to keep a straight face 😂

That Des and Steph. Where do you start!? His voice/accent to begin with. And her thinking she's a ride when she's actually rotten looking. The fact that Des is not bothered in the slightest at his missus openly telling him what she plans to do with Kevin because it's "a game" yet wanted to flatten Mark when he had the most innocent of attempts at her. None of this pair make sense.
Thank goodness we now know better - it’s awful to see how Deirdre expects Tracey to be hostile to Wendy and Ken just because she’s hurt, as though a father-child relationship means nothing 😢 This storyline didn’t age well. Thanks for posting these eps! ❤
Neither Ken nor Wendy owns a pair of jeans. That says it all. Oh... and Ken would be perfectly happy running off to Antigua with her, without giving a second thought to the daughter he professes to love. He and Wendy certainly deserve each other.
I didn't like RIta and Gail laughing at the fact Mavis was off sick because her budgie died. That was very unnecessary and really quite callous, in my opinion. Out of character for Rita, I'd have thought.
And the curse of the "even" side of the street begins again. Yes a few tragedies hit the "odd" side...but we had Val Barlow's death, the factory fire that killed Fred Gee's first wife, Ernest Bishop 's death...and of course the tragedies that were to come on that side.....the budgie dying was the portent of things to come.
This was around about the time I started watching Corrie (the "Tracy's in her room listening to tapes/Deirdre's perm" era) with my mad Irish grandma, I think she thought it was a documentary. I'd ask her what she'd been up to, and she'd tell me that Steve McDonald had started a chip pan fire, or some such. Ah, great days.

She always came across as a girl on the make, her eye on "bigger, better, richer" rather than someone who'd be content with step-motherhood and washing nappies and builders' togs. Also the glare from her forehead is so distracting, almost makes me reach for my sunglasses every time she's on screen.
With a mother like Dreary tis no wonder Tracyluv ended up as a murderer; I didn't realise at the time but honestly Dreary needs time in a psychiatric unit !!!
