- I loved the West Wing, and was also a big fan of The Newsroom, so when I saw the final scene in the penultimate episode I was immediately reminded of Posse Comitatus from The West Wing's third season.
And I decided I wanted to see the scene with Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah. So I made it.
Obviously this is not my original content. The song is by Jeff Buckley, and the video is from HBO's The Newsroom.
This song on any clip can bring you to tears, especially considered its background, but combined with this sequence....God Damn I am chopping onions 🧅

If you're a true fan of The Newsroom, you know the song that accompanies that scene is Shenandoah, not Hallelujah. No offense to Leonard Cohen, but Shenandoah was playing when my hero, Charlie Skinner, died and I think of that scene whenever I hear that song. Whoever dubbed on Hallelujah has no knowledge of that series.
Or they don't care for that song.
Why was this not the song in the episode! it works so well
I mean sorkin had used it in so many of his other shows it would have been a little redundant. They literally had the same song one CJ Greg's secret service boyfriend or whatever was shot and killed?
Its not "Halleluiah". Why was it altered? The episode was not named "Oh, Shenandoah" for a reason!
