Just got back from a 1200km trip on my X-Town 300 loaded with camping gear. Travelled some quite remote roads in Nth QLD Australia. The scooter went really well, surprisingly comfortable & practical, sat on Highway speeds no issue. Your tour will be a delight on the AK.
Depends where in the WORLD you are riding. If you live in Texas where I do, the AK550 will not do as a touring bike, especially with a passenger. On our interstate Highways if you can’t run between 75-90 mph you better take secondary roads. We have a lot of 18-wheel trucks on our Interstates, which causes a lot of wind/turbulence.
the Kymco AK 550 can Handle your 3k ride, the Kymco S8 150cc can even Handle a 2,000 plus km ride what more for your AK. just check your coolant and oil.

how is vibration on handle bars for long ride? smooth,comfortable, or just ok?.thinking of uprgrade from my xct400

The seat is perfect, also for the passenger...I had the Yamaha Tracer 900 and the seat was terrible for a touring bike...!
