    I think IB textbooks purposely skip some points because that is how you differentiate the normal students from the real IB students. Great video as always!

    Definitely what you are saying is 2000% true. Before no matter how I study on the textbook, I just don't get the marks that I want, even if I practiced questions given in the textbook, cuz teacher don't provide any past papers and that time I didn't know how to find past papers. But then after I organized every past paper questions in topics and even learnt knowledge from past papers markscheme, I feel like every past papers do have the similar patterns, so I feel more confident in this year 2019 May exam. Thank u so much

    DEAR AUTHOR! The most helpful video for this moment would be about what is most likely to come up in 2018 mock exams! This would be the best topic for the video ever if you can do it. I was just thinking too much about it and there is no guarantee that for example 2017 TZ1 exams are most likely to appear. For math or for economics it is very important, as sometimes high mock results can save your life when applying to the uni.
    Thank you in advance!

    • @iblikecole9167
      @iblikecole9167  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! Usually mocks are derived from previous IB past papers ( and I've heard of some teachers using A Level questions ) so if you go crazy on IB past papers and do as many of them as you can, I'm sure you'll do great for Mocks! But I like your idea, I will look into it. I think Andrew Weng did something like that for Chem and Mitch Campbell for Math SL.

    Can you please make a course for command terms and how to understand what is needed to know since in my ib school that is very poorly explained and i cant find a reasonable explanation anywhere. I would be so greatful if you could do that.

      For which subject? The command terms are explained in your Subject Guide, that helps quite a bit also.

    • @lorcatheorca3062
      @lorcatheorca3062 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a TLDR at the end
      Try looking at past exams (for the past few years) in the subject you're studying in. It's impossible to cover everything in a syllabus ****if you leave until too close to the exams**** (like I did), so looking at past exams can help you identify certain overarching concepts that you know you need to know. For example, in Business Management, rather than memorize all the topics in the "Finance & Accounts" unit, I just made sure I knew how to do break even analysis, P&L, and cash flow forecast, and since one (and usually all 3) have shown up on previous year's exams, I pretty much guaranteed that I would get the full 5 points whenever one of those questions inevitably showed up. This is also a lot more effective than say, studying hundreds of vocab words very close to the exam (should still learn important terms).
      TLDR: look at past exams so you know what's generally important to know, it's not perfect but pretty effective imo
      Good luck on your exams!

    Does the syllabus apply for any year? (I'm starting the IB in august, does that mean that the syllabus statements that I can find online now will be the ones I will be studying next year?)

    • @iblikecole9167
      @iblikecole9167  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      All syllabus have a start date. For example "Starting Exams May 2018" and the end date is when the next syllabus comes out. So you need to find out what is the latest syllabus for any given subject.

    May I know when u start preparing for your exams and how you first start your revision? There is just so much content and I dont know where to start... thanks :)

    • @iblikecole9167
      @iblikecole9167  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I didn't have a "plan" but I liked going long periods of time with just 1-2 subjects. Like I devoted a week totally to Biology and Economics. I just tailored revision to what I felt I needed to work on most, I never had a detailed schedule (I tried to make one, but I could never end up following it). I recommend to start revising as soon as you're done with your IA's and EE, then finish learning content, then revise, but do what works for you.

    Hello, do you know when will the new syllabus for subjects such as economics be published? The current syllabus last assessments is 2019. If I were to start IB in 2018 will they publish the new syllabus before my start of IBDP? For the economics exam in 2020, will there be any specimen papers or past papers for the new syllabus change? Also, the current syllabus for math hl last examinations is 2020, if I were to take math hl, do badly on it and I want to retake it for the next exam session will I be allowed to take the november session in my school if it does the IB exams in may? If not I will have to take it next year, that means I will need to study the new syllabus. Will there be drastic changes in the syllabus?

    Should i just ignore questions from old syllabus?
    For example ib chemistry syllabus changed in 2016 so if i do 2015 practice and find question that is not in my current syllabus, should i ignore?

    • @iblikecole9167
      @iblikecole9167  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I mean as long as they're not in your syllabus, you don't need to practice them. So yea, just ignore them. But make sure they actually aren't in your syllabus.

    Hello, I'm an 8th grader and want to enroll in IB. I'm wondering on what are the important things I need to work on, and maybe some websites so I can be ahead of my class. Do you think I will make it as an 8th grader who averages about 85 in every subject

    • @IOwnKazakhstan
      @IOwnKazakhstan ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ik u prolly won't see this cus algorithm but you're obviously still not in IB yet.
      an average of 85 in every subject is pretty good, it (depending on where you live) likely puts you in like the top 50-25% of students.
      This is great and definitely enough to pass IB but if you wanna be a top 25% student in the IB you're gonna have to aim for a lot higher.
      You have a lot of time and trust me it really isn't super hard, in school your grades are affected pretty heavily by just the amount of time you put in.
      I would say don't worry about it too much but here is one golden tip: ask your teachers for help when you need it, I used to be and lowkey still am scared to ask questions, trust me no one's gonna judge you (unless you ask 1000 questions), and you will benefit from it greatly. Online information is great but there's a reason why schools have teachers and not just a pile of books and a laptop, these people have gone through what you've done and more, their advice is usually the best place to start.
      Don't worry too much about what people say online. Think about all the times you've talked to your friends about how much you hate a teacher or a subject when in reality in the class you don't hate it you just find it uninteresting and the teacher not that great. That's basically the internet talking about IB, (almost) everything is exaggerated. Or just the internet in general. You'll probably be taking mock exams soon (that's around when I did my first) and honestly even though they don't go to ur grade u have to take them seriously, treating a mock exam like "just a mock exam" will make you treat actual real exams like "just an exam". You gotta be in the right headspace. Also don't totally sacrifice your social life no matter what. Mental over grades.
