5:50 In fact the Palace wasn't any real "gift" of Stalin, because Poland and its people had to pay for it so much, in many ways. It used to be a symbol of the darkest communist times in Poland.
*Preview: July 21, 1955 the Stalin Palace of Culture built by the Soviet Union in Warsaw: 42 floors, height 230.68 meters, 820 thousand square meters, 3288 rooms were donated to the Polish people.* Stalin's gifts to Poland after 1945... In 1945, Poland received the cities of Wroclaw, Gdansk, Zielona Gora, Legnica, and Szczecin. The USSR also gave the territory of Bialystok, with the mediation of Stalin, the city of Klodzsko, disputed with Czechoslovakia, became Polish. The GDR resisted, not wanting to give Szczecin to the Poles - the issue with the city was finally resolved only in 1956 under pressure from the USSR. Back in May 1945, Wroclaw was called Breslau and had not belonged to Poland for 600 years (!) in a row. Victory Day, now referred to in Warsaw as "the beginning of communist tyranny", added German Silesia, Pomerania, as well as 80% of East Prussia to Poland. Not much is being discussed in the Czech Republic and Poland about the pogroms that the new authorities committed in the "returned territories" - 14 million Germans were expelled from Pomerania and the Sudetenland. If the residents of Konigsberg (which became Soviet Kaliningrad) moved to the GDR for 6 years (until 1951), then in Poland and Czechoslovakia it took 2-3 months, and many Germans were given only 24 hours to pack, allowing them to take only a suitcase of things, and hundreds of kilometers were forced to walk. "You know, it's not worth mentioning this," the Szczecin Mayor's Office timidly remarks. "Such things spoil our good relations with German. If the consequences of our Victory, our May 9, 1945, are so bad, illegal and terrible, then Poland should give Silesia, Pomerania and Prussia back to the Germans, Lithuania should give up Vilnius and Klaipeda, Romania - from Transylvania, the Czech Republic - from Sudetenland and Tesin. The USSR voluntarily transferred to Poland 15% of the reparations paid by Germany. In total, this amounted to $2.3 billion in 1945-49 prices. In 1947, the USSR sent thousands of tons of grain and other types of food to the Poles, which made it possible to avoid a large-scale famine in Poland. In 1948, Warsaw signed an agreement with Moscow on the supply of Soviet industrial equipment worth almost half a billion dollars on a gratuitous basis. With the help of the USSR, over 800 industrial, energy, transport, and shipbuilding facilities were built in Poland. In 1962, the Polish energy system joined the unified energy system of the socialist country Mir, and in 1963 the Poles began to regularly receive oil from the Druzhba oil pipeline at a price ... 30% lower than the global price (?). Industrial production increased 10 times from 1950 to 1974. Poland's national income grew by 6.2% per year in the 60s, and by 8.1% per year in the early 70s. From the mid-50s to the early 90s, the value of Polish imports increased by more than 20 times. The Polish navy and river fleet were in the top 20 of the world ranking, by the end of the 70s Poland was one of the thirty most developed and socially well-off countries in the world. In the 70s, the number of personal cars increased from 450,000 to 2.3 million.
And It wasn't even build by Russia. It was built by Polish workers together with the Soviets, on Stalin's order. To build it some of the last tenements in Warsaw that survived WWII had to be demolished and people relocated , because Stalin decided to build his palace in this exact spot. Some people commited suicide because they didn't want to leave their homes.

Polish Sim will provide you those 9gb only inside EU. For Switzerland you'll need another local sim because Polish operators have huge prices for calls and data outside of EU if it's prepaid. I'm traveling daily around Europe so I'm kinda used to all those prices. Welcome to Poland 🇵🇱 ;)
I might be wrong but I think there are direct flights from Seoul to Wrocław since there is a huge Korea community in this city during to a lot of Korean companies operating in and around Wrocław. And from Wrocław to Warsaw you go by plane less than an hour.
One of the reasons people don't like the Palace of Culture is the fact that they destroyed 182 prewar buildings (in an already hugely ruined Warsaw) just to build it where it is.
