Even in the context of the show, Mustafa really stepped in it too many times. He'd already outright disobeyed his father, the Sultan, not just as a child going through growing pains and the usual, but in matters of the state as well. That coupled with the Janissary perpetually hyping him up over the Sultan and their quickness to be so ride or die for the Prince when their sworn duty was not to him but to the SULTAN...It was too easy to implicate him. Mustafa made a lot of mistake and kept asking for forgiveness instead of permission, he may not have had bad intentions towards his father but that’s what it appeared to be and him keeping the sultan soldiers even for good will with the soldiers instead of ordering them back to his father and paying them was a big mistake and his father gave him the benefit of the doubt but mustafa keep seeing him as his father first instead of sultan On a different matter why are they all ridiculously good looking? @@krystenhaye3758 You don’t understand this period in World History. Men fought for women (and a lot of them) and the women fought for power. There really was nothing to romanticize when you figure that the Sultan of the World arranged marriages for political purposes and married off girls as young as 7 to men old enough to be their great grandfathers. And on top of that, female circumcision was a common practice.
So, I realize that (hopefully) people understand that what happens here is entirely a fictional depiction on the show's part, but if anyone ever wants to ask questions about what actually caused the real life downfall of Mustafa, I'm always down to answer! (There's also an essay by Zahit Atçıl called "Why Did Süleyman the Magnificent Execute his son şehzade Mustafa in 1553?" that's a really good, nuanced take on things, which is easily accessible if you do a quick Google search.)
@@ncnc1882 Oh, I definitely can! A bit of a disclaimer first, though, based on how you phrased your original comment-the Mustafa of the show is _heavily_ romanticized and, therefore, can't be taken as a fully serious representation of him. There isn't any evidence of Mustafa being close to any of his half-siblings (Suleiman himself apparently spoke of how Mustafa would put all his brothers to death as sultan, which I can expand on if you want!) and the trouble he got into was specifically because he _didn't_ obey his father. You see, Suleiman's father, Selim I, took the throne through usurping his own father, Suleiman's grandfather, Bayezid II. How did that happen? Well, that'd be because Bayezid II, by then an older man, preferred diplomacy to war. The Janissary Corp didn't like that, which meant Selim I could use them to depose his father through the promise of campaigns. This was an event that Suleiman had played an active role in and now was witnessing the circumstances that allowed for it to happen play out again in his own time. By now, after the death of Mehmed, the Janissaries let their support for Mustafa be known "manifestly" according to Venetian ambassador, Navagero. It was now the 1550s, and Suleiman was in his sixties, like Bayezid II had been, and had begun to experience poor health. It was exactly this which kept him from meeting up with the forces he had sent ahead with Rüstem. This is where the Janissaries amassed there made a very bold decision. "...“the janissaries who were with him said that they wanted to go to pay respects to Mustafa, their future sultan. The pasha immediately understood the situation, and suspecting some threat to himself, issued a command that no one would leave him but that all the troops would accompany him in the direction of Iconio. The janissaries, however, did not want to be prevented from doing what they had decided [only] because of this command, so they all set out along the path toward Amasya. The pasha continued toward Iconio with the agha of the janissaries and with those others who had remained.”-Zahit Atçıl, _Why Did Süleyman the Magnificent Execute his son şehzade Mustafa in 1553?_ Now, this is overwhelmingly bad, because soldiers couldn't swear allegiance to a prince. They were the sultan's soldiers, which meant their allegiance could only be to the sultan himself. This is why, after the Janissaries arrived in Amasya, what Mustafa did next can only be called a very major mistake. He didn't simply welcome them in, you see, he also rewarded them by allowing them to receive abundant food and one ducat each. “If he had rejected this obeisance right away as a display due only the sultan himself, he could never have been portrayed as a rebel to his father; rejection of the soldiers’ advances would have communicated that the legitimate sultan was alive in Istanbul and that he, as his son, by no means disregarded the authority of the sultan. Mustafa probably did not intend to undermine Süleyman’s power and prestige, but he almost certainly did not foresee that embracing the people’s love would result in his demise.”-Zahit Atçıl, _Why Did Süleyman the Magnificent Execute his son şehzade Mustafa in 1553?_ None of this was helped by the fact that, as news of Suleiman's deteriorating health spread, Mustafa (understandably) prepared to ride to Istanbul to take the throne. And none of the Janissaries would follow Rüstem, who as the Grand Vizier was the representative of the sultan's will, because none of them wanted to go against Mustafa. Rüstem was left with no choice but to report this all to Suleiman, who, at first, refused to believe it. In fact, he found it so absurd he believed it to be made up to smear Mustafa's name. But, eventually, the damning truth broke out in full. Other, smaller details, is that Mustafa was already making inroads to ensure his success in succeeding Suleiman. He had contacted Venice for help in getting the throne, making promises to them, and reached out similarly to statesmen like Ayas Pasha. Now, to be fair, this, to a point, expected efforts from a prince and Mustafa always made a point of saying all he promised would occur _after_ his father's death. But, in the context of the Janissaries clearly being willing to rebel for him, it proved as further damning evidence against him. Basically, I don't think Mustafa was outright willing to rebel, but he had every ability to do so and very powerful figures (the literal standing army of the Ottoman Empire) willing to rebel in his name if not with his sanction.
@@ncnc1882 Nope! The one thing I can say that Bayezid shared with Mustafa was the ability to make one very _bad_ decision. After Mustafa's execution, only Selim was still alive to challenge Bayezid for the throne. Still, it was Bayezid, according to certain rumors (one even perhaps spoken by Selim himself), who was favored by those remaining for the throne. This might be why he felt entitled to more than he had; enough so to complain to their father about it. Even Hürrem had to step in to pull him out of hot water with the sultan at least once. After Hürrem's death, however, things began to take a turn for the worst between the brothers. Enough so, that Suleiman decided to send them to provinces equally far from the capital. Selim, for his part, obeyed right away, even though he had the most to lose since, at that time, he was in Manisa, the perfect spot to get the throne. Still, he left immediately for Konya without any complaining. That was not the case for Bayezid, who, instead, protested being given Amasya as a posting. He believed it to be some kind of insult because it had been Mustafa's province before his execution. So, instead of heading out, he stalled. This, of course, annoyed Suleiman, who declared him a traitor. He sent Selim and Sokollu Mehmed Paşa at the head of an army to confront Bayezid, who was defeated near Konya in May 1559. This, however, is where Selim's involvement ends as, unlike in the show, he absolutely did _not_ accompany the executioners and or give the order. That's because Bayezid decided to crown his foolishness by fleeing to Iran, basically Suleiman's worst enemy, which only served to enrage his father further. The prince remained at the Safavid Court as a basically glorified hostage while the Shah and Suleiman haggled terms. After Suleiman at last parted with a large sum of money, the Shah allowed an Ottoman executioner inside the prince's cell. Basically, both him and Mustafa have moments where I want to take them by the shoulders and say, "No, no, this isn't the good idea you think it is!" but with Bayezid, I want to slap him upside the head for good measure.

No one who knows the truth that Ibrahim Pasha and Mustafa, Mahidevran, Hatice Sultana and all those who died because of Syleiman's cruelty and because of Hurrem's and Rustem's plotting, will never forgive him. Neither you nor me, will forgive him. We should be all of us good people and not act like Hurrem, Rustem and Syleiman. They killed the innocent ones and they also still talked without shame.
you do know this is a TV show and far from the history and reality of what happened right??
But I guess in a patriarchal society there must always be a way to blame a woman for everything. Hence the distortion of facts to make Mustafa death about Hurrem. The descendants of hurrem should sue the show producers
Mehmet was the perfect next sultan
But god will is other then that!!
Rubbish God gave us all free will to do the good not the bad don't put the blame on God
So sad how can a farther just watch while they kill his son
Suleyman Fhater ? Suleyman was an animal in human skin
You didn’t include that scene when mehmet was murdered by mahidevran when she knew he was going to the province that she thought would go to her son Manysa I apologize for probably butchering the names also I know this is not really what happened but what are the odds that only one prince in the palace was infected and he just happened to be the sultan’s favorite son. Mustafa made a lot of mistake and kept asking for forgiveness instead of permission, he may not have had bad intentions towards his father but that’s what it appeared to be and him keeping the sultan soldiers even for good will with the soldiers instead of ordering them back to his father and paying them was a big mistake and his father gave him the benefit of the doubt but mustafa keep seeing him as his father first instead of sultan
On a different matter why are they all ridiculously good looking? What, do they have like a mr. Turkey or a super model contest? It’s statistically impossible that most of the residents of Turkey are that good looking
В реальности он умер от оспы

Secondly the atmaca guy. He does the rebellion preparation without Mustafa’s knowledge. Do you think a mere slave can outrightly defy masters wishes and goes against him? This is again a red flag. Another thing is - how come Mustafa didn’t know a rebellion would break out! It’s so foolish of him on not to see what’s happening around him.
Third - today jannisarry wants Mustafa. So they are uprising for him. What if he already became a king and after few years jannisary wants his son to be a sultan. Will Mustafa sit quietly?
That’s why I keep on saying that, even though Mustafa was innocent and strong, he doesn’t have political acumen.

So when hurrem decided to fight back and played their dirty games you call her evil? They slandered her name so much that people like you believed the lies that her enemies spread 500 years ago.
yeah because Mahidevran and everyone in the palace trying to kill her multiple times then killing mehmet was okay ,but hurrrem is the villain?. hurrem had to fight for her survival and her children,if it meant others loss then so be it.

@@nimadeswantari2111 that's how it was, and many other concubines had the same chance as hurrem to become a sultana. mahidevran was never a Haseki Sultana she was the mother of a prince but she was never Suleiman legal wife. and Mahidevran always manipulated Mustafa telling him he would be sultan and every time Suleiman would get sick she was already sitting Mustafa on that throne. hurrem never saw anyone else on that throne except Suleiman even her own children. and idk if you remember, mahidevran had everyone on her side, she even ruled the harem for a little bit and what did she do? didn't Suleiman had a youtube account? he should have watched how hurrem and rustem plotted against mustafa.
Mahidevran was killed mehmet as well by poisoned him.
In reality he was killed because he was very popular among the people and among the army, + he was 45 years old, he wanted the throne , and Suleiman was afraid of him, he would have killed Suleiman and his 4 sons. Suleiman was a young prince when his father Selim overthrew sultan Bayazit, and he killed all of his brothers.
Suleiman had two known consorts:
Mahidevran Hatun, a Circassian or Albanian or Montenegrin,[61][62] and one of Suleiman's firsts concubines;[63]
Hürrem Sultan, known in West as Roxelana (m. 1534), Suleiman's concubine and later wife and first Haseki sultan, possibly a daughter of a Ruthenian Orthodox priest;[62]
Sons
Suleiman I had at least eight sons:
Şehzade Mahmud (c. 1513, Manisa Palace, Manisa - 29 October 1520, Old Palace, Istanbul, and buried in Yavuz Selim Mosque);[64]
Şehzade Murad (c. 1515, Manisa Palace, Manisa - 19 October 1520, Old Palace, and Istanbul, buried in Yavuz Selim Mosque);[64]
Şehzade Mustafa (c.1516/1517, Manisa Palace, Manisa - executed, by the order of his father, 6 October 1553, Konya, buried in Muradiye Complex, Bursa), with Mahidevran;[65]
Şehzade Mehmed (1521, Old Palace, Istanbul - 6 November 1543, Manisa Palace, Manisa, buried in Şehzade Mosque, Istanbul), with Hürrem;

I hate hurrem mihrimah
So, I realize that (hopefully) people understand that what happens here is entirely a fictional depiction on the show's part, but if anyone ever wants to ask questions about what actually caused the real life downfall of Mustafa, I'm always down to answer! (There's also an essay by Zahit Atçıl called "Why Did Süleyman the Magnificent Execute his son şehzade Mustafa in 1553?" that's a really good, nuanced take on things, which is easily accessible if you do a quick Google search.)
Can you say why? Mustafa obeyed his father, loved him and his brothers then why
The pasha continued toward Iconio with the agha of the janissaries and with those others who had remained.”-Zahit Atçıl, _Why Did Süleyman the Magnificent Execute his son şehzade Mustafa in 1553?_
Now, this is overwhelmingly bad, because soldiers couldn't swear allegiance to a prince.
Mustafa probably did not intend to undermine Süleyman’s power and prestige, but he almost certainly did not foresee that embracing the people’s love would result in his demise.”-Zahit Atçıl, _Why Did Süleyman the Magnificent Execute his son şehzade Mustafa in 1553?_
None of this was helped by the fact that, as news of Suleiman's deteriorating health spread, Mustafa (understandably) prepared to ride to Istanbul to take the throne.
Thankyou for this much detailing.
And why bayezid was killed by salim. Did he also came very powerful.
Mustafa was brave but he was easily influenced and made foolish by people around him.
