Opening day! Ski Biking at Ski Apache Resort | Ruidoso, NM

- This is opening day at Ski Apache Resort near Ruidoso, New Mexico.
Ruidoso is at the heart of the Sacramento Mountains of southern New Mexico and on the northern edge of the Mescalaro Apache Indian Reservation and at an elevation of 6900 feet offers high altitude relief from the desert heat of the surrounding high desert.
The nearby Ski Apache resort offers runs to ski, snowboard, ski bike!
This is southernmost ski and snowboard area is finally opened for the riders in New Mexico and Texas. They have eleven lifts in total, however, during opening day, they only had two beginner trails opened. The number of lifts that are open daily is dependent on the amount of snow we have. Check the Trail Map for open lifts. There is no lodging in ski Apache but there are numerous lodging possibilities located in the town of Ruidoso.

I was riding on a customized TNGNT Ski Bike. Used their frame kit and added my mountain biking parts to it.
Far removed from the desert southwest, I now live where we get a lot of snow. But there is something magical about snow up in the pine of New Mexico. The last time I was able to make it out that way was over a decade ago. On the last day there while looking out a big window at the capitan mountains out in the distance, I quietly wept (but no one was around to see me so it was ok🤣) I dont understand how time goes by so fast! A fantastic video Dave, great shots and an adventure with the Skibike, that's what I like. I will definitely do another round with the Skibike this year. Great riding and the food at the end looked really tasty. Ride on and have a great Sunday mate🤙

Hey Bruce! I was hooked on ski biking last year and still hooked this year. Unfortunately I’ve been very busy working so my biking trips this year were very limited. Wish I can go out more. Just snowed yesterday so I might be going back again this weekend. Good to hear from you!
Haha gotta get the tickets in town at the ski shop. Way quicker and easier than waiting in that god awful line at the bottom of the lift

@@DavePFilms Lol they've been saying that for years. At least since 2017 when I first went. They sell tickets at their Ski Apache ski shop on Mechem down in town, locals tip!

Hi Dave, fantastic video!!! Do you know until when the resort is open? I´m planning a trip in a couple of weeks but not sure if at the end of this month it will be open and also not sure if this month is a good time to go. One of my dreams is to see the snow!! Do they rent all the equipment or should I buy something? Thank you so much!
Sorry for the really late reply. They usually close around March -April timeframe.
They have snowboards and skis to rent. No ski bikes tho.
what brand is your ski bike? i really like the snogo ones but they’re really expensive
It’s TNGNT brand. The snogo are easier to ride. I heard good things about them.
