Homily on the Feast of Vietnamese Martyrs by Bishop Peter Nguyen Van Kham

Gospel: Mk 13, 24-32
“He will gather his elect from the four winds.”
Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark.
Jesus said to his disciples: “In those days, after the tribulation, the sun will be darkened, the moon will lose its light, the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming on a cloud with great power and glory. And he will send out his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the end of the sky to the ends of the earth. Look at the fig tree and understand this parable. When it sprouts and sprouts its leaves, you know that summer is near. So also, when you see all these things happening, you will know that it is near at the door. Truly, I say to you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
“But about that day or that hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”
This is the word of the Lord.
