it's your love of final Fantasy that really makes me love your vids/style. I can't wait for it either dude. Have a great night from another old gamer (36)
Really nice game combat wise the story is pretty good but annoying because the main character and the main heroine are bland and not very interesting but the rest of the cast is pretty good and like i said the story is really good it has a medieval feel to it but with technology way beyond medieval times it's a really nice setting.
+Brian “Codeninja676” Rodriguez fact, vaan and penelope is added after yasumi matsuno left the company. his real hero and heroin are balthier and fran and the start of his game is when he try to loot the royal tresury
akiraguy That would have made more sense story wise and the characters would have been a million times more interesting than bland blond #1 and bland blondette #2
+Brian “Codeninja676” Rodriguez yup. this is why hironobu sakaguchi refuse to play the game past the intro sequences because thats is the only part yasumi matsuno's work that SE don't touch/edit. the rest were edited to put vaan penelope in
The best part is that this is the Zodiark job international edition that was released only in Japan Which mean every FFXII can witness one of the most hardest boss fights of all the FF Which is facing all 5 judges at once......I can't wait!!!
It's quite a bit different from what I've read. I think the changes (basically it works like a jobs system) will make the characters stand on their own better.
One of the best and one of the most underrated FF games ever made. Exploration(mainly THIS), combat system, rare monsters, rare equipment...I love it all. Can't wait to experience it again remastered. I think overall its my most favorite FF game lol
Tom Franco I hear you, to each his own. I loved the combat system mainly because of the gambits. I liked giving my characters certain actions to do at given times and watching my strategies come into fruition without me pressing a button. Good times lol.
I wish I could be as excited about this as you are, Johnny. Final Fantasy XII never appealed to me, and in fact, turned me off of the series entirely. Since I played it on PS2, I haven't touched a new Final Fantasy title. It's been a long time though, maybe I should give it another shot? Probably will eventually. Congrats on getting your wish this year though buddy! :)
12 definately was an aquired taste for me. It took some time for me to get what it was doing. Once the gambit system opens up along with exploration. It can get really good. That said it is far from perfect. I hope you're not a completionist.
This is actually a remaster of the japan-only Zodiac Job System Version, so it's a very different game now. It has a new class system, tweaked battle mechanics, a Speed Mode making the game run faster and many other small changes, so you could say it's a remake
I love when people complain about the battle system, its actually the same system FF always used just with optional auto pilot. If you dont like what the computer is doing then issue a command like always.DUH!
Alejandro 90 I get ya, but all you gotta do is pull up the menu, select the character, select the command, just like every other FF and RPG in general, FFXII is just using a visual gimmick, its not a new battle system. Them running around really doesnt do anything.
It's impossible for a game to be "underrated". Most Final Fantasy fans didn't like it that much, so it isn't rated well. For something to be "underrated" it would mean most people rated a game low, but it should be rated higher. With something so subjective like games, they shouldn't be rated one way or the other. There's no standard of measurement to say everyone's opinion is wrong but yours.
This bit of news was definitely a welcome way to start off my day! Personally I loved the game, but since I never managed to finish it, it's been on my list of games to revisit one day. Now I'll be able to do that on the PS4.
Damn, this takes me back! I think VII may have been my first Final Fantasy, but this was definitely the first that I bought right when it came out, and really got deep into. So much nostalgia, and it's awesome to see them bringing this one back!
I'm just glad it's finally "announced". There's been so many rumours and leaks over the years, it's just nice to finally have an idea of when it's coming. Also for anyone wondering, the subscript title "The Zodiac Age" probably refers to the Zodiac job system which was an International Edition exclusive feature which we never got in the west. This version of the game should include all the massive improvements that existed in the Int. release (including the ability to control all party members).
Man this game, I would love to play through it again! For me it was the last great Final Fantasy, the 2 online games and the 13 trilogy were not very good to me.
That Limited Edition Steelbook edition of the PS2 version is still one of my all-time cherished purchases. But at the same time, I'm more than thrilled that I'll finally be able to "retire" it and play this classic in HD resolution, the way God intended. So excited.
Which means they could be doing better, because it doesn't look THAT good. It's only a remaster, after all. Also there is literally no title that isn't better on PC (as long as developers do what they're supposed to).
Heroman It could definitely be better, it is just a cheaply made remaster to get quick money by using little resources. Also saying there is literally no title better on PC is absurd. Truly absurd. I'm sorry to inform you but the PC isn't the beat-all platform that has nothing but advantages. Every platform has it's advantages and disadvantages.
I can't think of any game that isn't on PC that wouldn't be better served by being on PC instead. Also can't think of any game on PC that would be better on console. You can use controllers on PC and play any title from the last 40 years, and build one many, many times more powerful than current generation consoles. PC is factually the beat-all platform with 0 disadvantages, sorry. The only thing you could consider a disadvantage is lack of support from developers like Nintendo and Sony, but that's not the PC's fault. Exclusives are all consoles have that make them worth getting, and I look forward to when that isn't true any more.
Heroman 0 disadvantages? So you're saying a PC doesn't have more problems then a console? If you say you've never had problems with your PC then you're a liar. I would know with 400 games in my Steam library. While on a console, I put in a disc, and it works. No fuss, it works, simple. That seems like a disadvantage to a PC to me.
As flawed as some of the aspects of FFXII was, this was a really fantastic game. Very excited. This was a very fun game, even though it was not in the traditional FF formula.
I automatically read the trailer's title as Final Fantasy XV: The Zodiac Age. You can probably imagine my surprise when video and music from FFXII started playing. :P
One of my favorite Final Fantasies. So excited to play it on the PS4 with Trophies and the Zodiac job system! Been wanting this forever and was really doubting they'd ever actually do it.
What makes this even more amazing is that its the International Zodiac Job system version. Its takes what was FFXII and made it 10 times better. Bringing back the classic leveling classes, being able to control your NPC party members as well as your Espers. Finally being able to fight all the Judges and on top of that new modes, new gambits, new weapons, new magic, new armor, and extended scenes and more.
I can't wait to hear how it sounds. If you guys remember they used a weird type of audio compression which made the voices of a lot of the characters sound as if they had those nose plugged, which is a shame because i thought the voice actors were pretty good. That and I'm guessing it'll be the international zodiac job system version of the game which wasn't released here in the states. So yeah, I'm pretty hyped!
FFXII is one of those games I didn't much care for when it first came out, but as I got older started to appreciate more and more. So, yes. I am very excited about this remaster. I'm also very pleased it's based on the International Zodiac Job System version instead of the "vanilla" version.
I'm looking foward to this. When FFXII came out I was all in on the 360. Then I tried to play it on the PS3 and then on a emulator. I couldn't play it because I can't invert the controls, I'm weird when it comes to controls and not being able to invert the camera control is one of them. Hopefully the remaster gives that option.
this might make me wanna play the game again, i stopped after around 18 hours on the ps2, the combat was getting really difficult if i remember correctly
So true, final fantasy 12 is really a great final fantasy game. Everything is amazing, people are just not used to it's combat. But this is different, this is the international zodiac job version! Everyone should try it out!
I recently picked up a PS2 memory card from a thrift that had some FFXII saves with almost 200 hours. I Was going to give it a look having never played the game. Now after this announcement, the FFVII remake, and World of Final Fantasy coming to the PS4 I think it may finally be time I pick up a PS4. So much to look forward to, wow!
Im re-playing it on PSX2 right now on my PC at HD+ resolution and some good anti-aliasing/anistropic filtering/FXAA added and it looks as good already. However, they did add real-time lighting to it which you can't do with PSX2 rendering which really adds a nice touch I have to say.
I remember playing over 200 hours on FF12. This time I know not to break those pots because if you do I think you can't get the most powerful weapon, the zodiac spear. I didn't have a strategy guide so i didn't know about it until many hours after playing.
ff12 was the first ff game I couldn't get into. But this remaster is making me want to give it another chance, cause I love every other ff game I've played.
I have two comments: One, I really, really hope they allow you to choose which license boards to use because I just read a summary on finalfantasy wikia and the international zodiac board seems way, and I mean way, more limited than the regular board. I mean, part of why FF 12 was so fun to me was being able to have any character fit any role with any weapon and any magic that I felt they should specialize in or use. But as far as I can tell, the zodiac system means that once a character chooses a job then they can't go back and will forever even being able to use every weapon besides their job's, and furthermore that only some character can have certain jobs. So for instance, as far as final fantasy wikia seems to be telling me, that only Fran can use the bows job, and only Balthier can use guns. I mean, how crazy is that that the game would lose freedom for an expanded release. Second, that I think it should definitely see a release on the PS Vita. I can't even promise I'll follow any news about it if it doesn't. Furthermore, World of Final Fantasy seems like kiddish chibi shit with some weird ass childish gameplay mechanic of stacking pokemon minis on their heads. I don't think final fantasy has gotten that far away from their original style since Dirge of Cerberus. And since obviously I won't see many games I wish were released on the Vita like Silent Hill 2-4, Shenmue 1 and 2, or some form of Alien, Predator, or Aliens vs. Predator property then clearly all of these games are best left to emulators on a PC than wishing for something portable. Then again, it's not like these games are meant to even be played, heck, it's like all these youtube videos and talk get me excited to play a new game, or even an older game, and when I finally decide to buy it it's as though it were never important to play it anyway and I'm onto the next game to be sold. I can't tell you how many times a youtuber has told me to buy this or look into that when by the time I've bought it, they're simply trying to sell me the next game and it's easier than pi to simply forget, more or less, the game I just bought and got excited for.
About the Zodiac System: When i played it as a kid, and got my license board, I had no idea what to do. Zodiac system limits the boards so it's a lot easier.
I absolutly fall off my chair when i saw the news Johnny. I have been almost close to beat the game myself but for some reason held off due to the final dungeon being hard. Not the final final one but the one before (not spoiling it if you haven´t completed it before) but yeah, i can´t wait to play it in HD and the soundtrack is so awesome when its not compressed like hell like on the PS2 version :P
I do too still have my original FF XII DVD! But it saddens me, this is going to be a PS4 time exclusive (hopefully)... Guess it's time to get me a PS4, this game totally worth it. The wait will be a pain!
So excited for this one! My 2nd favorite in the series, one of my Top 10 games of all time, and one of the few games my wife and I can agree on! ( lol)
reminds me a bit about FF XII zodiac since that was only released in japan the international one doesnt had the zodiac system and the zodiac system was sort of the class system back there maybe they put in there again and with some other stuffs
Looking forward to playing this. I loved it back in the day. Coming from FFXI helped me appreciate the combat system I think, and I enjoyed most of the settings. This and FF9 are probably my favorites.
I am super stoked for FFXII: The Zodiac Age. XII is my favorite game in the FF lineup, oddly for a lot of reasons many gamers hate it. I like the complex world that you have to earn some f the knowledge for, the characters are relatable. Not all games need to be exciting all the time. The music fits the game style and all the armor love! I'm getting ready for the release by making a fan-made guidebook cover XD
So long as this isn't with japanese menus and dialogue text. The original FF12 International Edition: Zodiac Job System was all english voice but Japanese text/menus (a real international version). Here's hoping they added the english (or other languages) for the menus and text boxes. *Oh yeah, not to mention the "International" edition was released everywhere except north america and europe.
Alright here, I'm pretty new to FF I've beaten VI and X and am playing X-2 now and am excited about this and I know there is a XII-2, and if not I'm sounding really dumb now, so I'm wondering should I play that also or is it not very good? Because the remaster of X came with the sequel and it doesn't seem that the sequel isn't coming with this so I'm wondering if I should play it or not. (Also Johnny, where did you get that shirt?! It's so stinkin tight!)
I notice there were no voices in the trailer... I'm hoping they have high quality recordings, I'm sure they will have, on the ps2 the voices were terrible, so grainy. Looks nice overall though! :)
I'm extremely excited for this, especially since now we finally get to explore the Zodiark job system/upgrade system. maybe I'll get more out of the game than the first time I played.
Honestly I think the graphics in the original were very detailed as is. It game out late in the ps2 generation right, the same year as the ps3 launch? I remember being blown away by the graphics when playing the game. Really was very very beautiful.
Really excited, because this is my favorite FF game ever. Definitely gonna be replaying it with the Remaster. This was one of my biggest wishes for E3, too.
Now we just need dot hack HD remakes
haha
Oh man, could u imagine? That would be epic!
+Tak F. Gaming IK still pissed hasn't been added to PSN yet it's one of the most sought over jrpgs
+GamingRetrospective Dude, that would be awesome too! That was a cool series.
Its nice to have dreams doesn't it?
it's your love of final Fantasy that really makes me love your vids/style. I can't wait for it either dude. Have a great night from another old gamer (36)
I never got the chance to play XII, so I'm actually pretty excited about this :)
Really nice game combat wise the story is pretty good but annoying because the main character and the main heroine are bland and not very interesting but the rest of the cast is pretty good and like i said the story is really good it has a medieval feel to it but with technology way beyond medieval times it's a really nice setting.

Same!
C'mon Square! Give us a Chrono Trigger remake!!
I'd like it to be a 2D remake. Not to be confused with a remaster, it'd have hand drawn sprites and more to the story. It is a short RPG.
does the ds port count? lol
Derek Hammersley It does cause it's 15 bucks in comparison to the 150 dollar SNES original.
I know right lol madness
No.
The best part is that this is the Zodiark job international edition that was released only in Japan Which mean every FFXII can witness one of the most hardest boss fights of all the FF Which is facing all 5 judges at once......I can't wait!!!
It's called Zodiac Age because it's the international version, basically like Final Mix.
It's quite a bit different from what I've read. I think the changes (basically it works like a jobs system) will make the characters stand on their own better.
Yeah, but even though it was called the International version, it was Japan only, so our first chance to play it new.
One of the best and one of the most underrated FF games ever made. Exploration(mainly THIS), combat system, rare monsters, rare equipment...I love it all. Can't wait to experience it again remastered. I think overall its my most favorite FF game lol
I couldn't stand the combat.
I didn't play much since the whole hit, count to ten, hit made it dull for me.
You can speed up time with this version, meaning fights are WAY faster.
MrYuntu Then I might give it a shot. Plus being like 10 years older I might be more patient.
Thanks
Tom Franco I hear you, to each his own. I loved the combat system mainly because of the gambits. I liked giving my characters certain actions to do at given times and watching my strategies come into fruition without me pressing a button. Good times lol.
Also, the hardest boss in final fantasy, the 5 judges in the trial mode. Glad we can play it now. So happy =)
What about Final Fantasy 6 remake?
that would be 100x better then this lmao!!!! still happy ff12 being done tho
6 is perfect, no need for remake. still the best ever
I already want a FF7 remake Remake
No it wouldn't. It would be a complete remake, which would only reasonable if it was a big success.
There is no perfect game and 6 is lame, so hardly noteworthy.
im totally down with playing ff12 again....but i would much prefer ff6.... i'd odly be willing to pay more then $60 for it lmao
Yay Derek , about that Xeno series reviews !? Im still waiting dude :)
+jm8080ful lol that's adorable!
12 definately was an aquired taste for me. It took some time for me to get what it was doing. Once the gambit system opens up along with exploration. It can get really good. That said it is far from perfect. I hope you're not a completionist.
This includes the zodiac job system, an improved version of the gambit system.
I guess square-Enix is just doing remakes now I hope they do a remake of final fantasy 8
Yes! Definitely a ff8 remake, where every part of the game is like the cutscenes of the ps1 version, if not better!
These aren't remakes they are remasters.
+Krytern UK ff 12 is but as I said I want them to do a REMAKE of ff 8 in the same way they are doing a remake of ff7
I see nothing wrong with that, their new stuff haven't been very good lately.
This and FFX/X-2 are remasters.
The only remake, for now, is FFVII.
If it sells well, maybe they will want to REMAKE other games too.
I need a remake of Chrono Trigger
No.
There's already one for the DS. It even has some extra content that wasn't in the original SNES version!
+metaltom2003 and the Playstation version has anime scenes.
+Jacob Prayer Those are in the DS version too!
i'd rather have an anime
one of the most underrated ff games in the bunch.
It's impossible for a game to be "underrated". Most Final Fantasy fans didn't like it that much, so it isn't rated well. For something to be "underrated" it would mean most people rated a game low, but it should be rated higher. With something so subjective like games, they shouldn't be rated one way or the other. Krytern UK hows this. Go fuck yourself.
Definitely, most people talk about it like it's not great but it's the one that actually tried a new gameplay and succeeded.
As soon as I heard about it I searched to see if you had done a video on it
1:26 Nooo!! Vaan's abs is still inverted :'( Hope they fix it
This bit of news was definitely a welcome way to start off my day!
So much nostalgia, and it's awesome to see them bringing this one back!
i been waiting for these news for years, freaking finally! :)
This makes me wanna go back and play FFXII : Revenant Wings :D
Tactics deserves some attention.
Thinking the same thing. Maybe because "Zodiac"
kakaroto311
It was such a fantastic game and severely underrated. I need more in my life!
leave tactics dead and buried where it is with vagrant story.
ivalice is mr matsuno's work and it was ripped from him.
Vagrant Story, anyone?
It's already been remade...
This is my favorite final fantasy game alongside 10, I am so excited. I put so many hours into this when I was younger.
I'm just glad it's finally "announced". There's been so many rumours and leaks over the years, it's just nice to finally have an idea of when it's coming.

Man this game, I would love to play through it again! For me it was the last great Final Fantasy, the 2 online games and the 13 trilogy were not very good to me.
Eruyt Village in HD! That music in that village still sounds amazing.
That Limited Edition Steelbook edition of the PS2 version is still one of my all-time cherished purchases. But at the same time, I'm more than thrilled that I'll finally be able to "retire" it and play this classic in HD resolution, the way God intended. So excited.
Honestly I thought of you right away Johnny when I saw The trailer. I knew this video would be coming, haha!
have you review ff 12 zodiac
Yesss! i was really hoping they would do this, can't wait to play XII again in HD!
I've been waiting on this for many, many years. I love everything with Ivalice (Vagrant Story, Tactics), Hitoshi Sakimoto, and Yasumi Matsuno.
I'm stoked if it runs at 60 FPS, or better yet, comes to PC.
Looking at those graphics, which consoles can obviously handle, I don't see how it would be better on PC.
Which means they could be doing better, because it doesn't look THAT good. It's only a remaster, after all. Also there is literally no title that isn't better on PC (as long as developers do what they're supposed to).

I would know with 400 games in my Steam library. While on a console, I put in a disc, and it works. No fuss, it works, simple. That seems like a disadvantage to a PC to me.
Ah, the Franchesca. We will meet again in HD:)
Where'd you get that shirt you're wearing in the video? :o It's awesome.
I've been waiting for ages for this!
As flawed as some of the aspects of FFXII was, this was a really fantastic game. Very excited. This was a very fun game, even though it was not in the traditional FF formula.
ff 12 was my favourite one
FFXII HD > FFX HD (IMO).
It's not even out yet!
You don't have to play FFXII: TZA to play FFXII, much like you don't have to play the HD version of X to play FFX.
And I've played both, and I'm saying I much prefer FFXII in HD rather than X.
One of the few final fantasies I didn't get to play through all the way, I don't fully remember why but would be nice to re-play it in HD
That pronunciation of "episode" always makes me happy :)
Speed Mode (which was in the International version) makes this a million times better.
i had the same issue as you, like i got to ifrit boss and past that doom wall twice after a few tries but then i kinda just always gave up.
I remember I was mad at gambits x3 and that the final boss died without the need of touching a button :3 :3
What makes this even more amazing is that its the International Zodiac Job system version. Its takes what was FFXII and made it 10 times better. Bringing back the classic leveling classes, being able to control your NPC party members as well as your Espers. Finally being able to fight all the Judges and on top of that new modes, new gambits, new weapons, new magic, new armor, and extended scenes and more.
i remember trying to beat one of the hardest boss for 5 days. lol
XII is one of my favourites , so I am sooo looking forward to this. I just hope they let us un-invert the damn camera this time.
I wonder if they are including the international bosses like the four judges?!
I am so pumped! I'm glad they are finally re-releasing the game in HD! It's going to be awesome!
Looks pretty badass. Thanks for the show of this one man!
I miss the whimsical SD character art look on console RPGs.
Okay, may be it was just a mistake, but this is not a remake it is HD Remaster.
Well...it's nearly here and I am so hyped!
Question guys ,Since the graphics arent like the newest FFA do you think they would have it for the last gen consoles as in the ps3/xbox
FFXII is one of those games I didn't much care for when it first came out, but as I got older started to appreciate more and more. So, yes. I am very excited about this remaster. I'm also very pleased it's based on the International Zodiac Job System version instead of the "vanilla" version.
Need my dq7 and dq8 3ds release dates
It was one of my wishes, too! So excited!
how tf does square develop like 10 games at once
I'm looking foward to this. When FFXII came out I was all in on the 360. Then I tried to play it on the PS3 and then on a emulator. I couldn't play it because I can't invert the controls, I'm weird when it comes to controls and not being able to invert the camera control is one of them. Hopefully the remaster gives that option.
how is it different from FFXII internation zodiac job system version of the game?
I spent lots of hours playing this game!
Looking forward to this one as well.
I've asked did this for so long, it's awesome they're finally going through with it. My favorite FF game by far.
That is so awesome to hear! Very sadly I have yet to play XII =(
This will be a great way to jump right in!
The hunts in the game are amazing! Best part.
ps4, the golden age of jrpgs is back
Maybe this time I'll beat it... When I first got this game my TV broke down. lol I hadn't saved, and that to start over lots I'd done for a few hours.
So unbelievably stoked.
this might make me wanna play the game again, i stopped after around 18 hours on the ps2, the combat was getting really difficult if i remember correctly
BROOOOO THE NEWSSSS - First thing I thought when I woke up was man now I have to give this game a second chance and Johnny said he would too!
Kinda surprised to see people hating on FF12 to be honest. It's definitely in my top 5 FF games.
I'm guessing because of Vann he is annoying as shit lol.
Lol yeah a bit I suppose. But no one is more annoying than Vanille from 13.
I was one of the ppl who tweeted you. Lol I'm @NathanIsRacin
Yeah i'm excited for it, especially considering its the remake of the japan exclusive Zodiac Job System, always wanted to see it for myself.
Now it's time for a "Skies of Arcadia" remake!
I remember playing over 200 hours on FF12. This time I know not to break those pots because if you do I think you can't get the most powerful weapon, the zodiac spear. I didn't have a strategy guide so i didn't know about it until many hours after playing.
I creamed me drawers when I saw this trailer lol. I've been wanting this for 3 years! It looks so much better than emulated footage of it in HD.
I just bought the original PS2 version for $1.00 at a music store. Is it worth playing?
fuck yes it is , best RPG ever made period. but wait for the remastered version though
The game is really good, bt the PS2 version hurts the eyes i would wait for this remaster.
We need your impression
ff12 was the first ff game I couldn't get into. But this remaster is making me want to give it another chance, cause I love every other ff game I've played.
I have two comments:
One, I really, really hope they allow you to choose which license boards to use because I just read a summary on finalfantasy wikia and the international zodiac board seems way, and I mean way, more limited than the regular board.
Is this going to be a ffx type of remake which just has upgraded graphics or a complete revamp similar to final fantasy 7?
I do too still have my original FF XII DVD! But it saddens me, this is going to be a PS4 time exclusive (hopefully)...
Guess it's time to get me a PS4, this game totally worth it. The wait will be a pain!
So excited for this one! My 2nd favorite in the series, one of my Top 10 games of all time, and one of the few
games my wife and I can agree on! ( lol)
i dream every Night with a Final Fantasy Tactics remake, with multiplayer system, new jobs and maps, maybe a map editor..
reminds me a bit about FF XII zodiac since that was only released in japan the international one doesnt had the zodiac system and the zodiac system was sort of the class system back there maybe they put in there again and with some other stuffs
It's so stinkin tight!)
were you really that excited to see the trailer for it?
It'd be nice if they also included some other Ivalice games in this package such as Final Fantasy Tactics or Vagrant Story.
Tactics is the best final fantasy for me, one of best games of all time, and makes me really sad it is so understimate.
I notice there were no voices in the trailer... I'm hoping they have high quality recordings, I'm sure they will have, on the ps2 the voices were terrible, so grainy. Looks nice overall though! :)
the first thing I thought of:does Johnny know this?Cheers from Norway
I'm extremely excited for this, especially since now we finally get to explore the Zodiark job system/upgrade system.
maybe I'll get more out of the game than the first time I played.
Honestly I think the graphics in the original were very detailed as is. It game out late in the ps2 generation right, the same year as the ps3 launch? I remember being blown away by the graphics when playing the game. Really was very very beautiful.
Really excited, because this is my favorite FF game ever. Definitely gonna be replaying it with the Remaster. This was one of my biggest wishes for E3, too.
Never played this one and man, does it look awesome! All I hear is nothing, but praise for it, despite some flaws.
