Sang through the eyes of a child - Being rejected by your parents and growing up in care must be tough. Only later on if life does mum try and get in touch. This song hits hard.
I love the creativity of the 80s. Everything from the hair, the outfits to the music was just so inventive. I know we have similar music productions nowadays but it seems more laid-back in the 80s, like they didn't try as hard...
Worthy observation. I was there(in the 80s, not this video) and it seemed to spring forth organically. Yes, there were many lame and insufferable trends, but down in the streets and on the dance floors it was pretty much a free for all out there.

Hard to believe this song is over forty years old. Seems like only yesterday indeed... I was 19 when this came out and it really doesn't feel that old (and neither do I... denial... delusion... whatever.) Thing is, back then, nobody listened to forty year old songs, but young people are STILL listening to this. :o)
