So glad I found this channel, as a kid I was made fun of for not knowing the positions and TH-cam was just beginning so we didn't have high quality videos like this to look up. This is a perfect overview for someone trying to get into basketball again as an adult!

I didn’t know any of these and know he just thought me all of it. It was easy to learn with him because I can hear his voice clearly so talking clearly just helps understand because you can actually hear them and not just the music they are playing in the backround
You could go even deeper to WAY back in the day positions were created so fans could follow the game better. They only wore numbers 1-5. That’s where you get 1G 2G 3SF 4PF 5C. If you played that position you wore that number. It was 5v5. Awesome video

Grew up loving the game but only played at the playground or on NBA Hangtime or NBA Jam games. Have always loved the suns because of Barkley so I'm watching the suns game tonight and watching this because I wanna understand this game like I do football. I enjoy watching basketball games just there's so many and it always feels like I'm missing something.

It’s like this, I played basketball almost all of my childhood. I was a great defender, I could drive the the rim with no problem, post scoring was aces. Being on the girls team in school, they didn’t always tell us the positions or sometimes the coach would just tell us where to be. This is like what 10 or 11 years ago? And I’m 22 now sooooo haha let’s go. Let’s learn the positions so I can have fun again

I think it’s good for all players in their positions to have quickness because it’s an advantage over the opponent.
How do you help build confidence in middle schoolers basketball?
It is important that they know it is ok to make mistakes! Continuously have them work on things they are good at!! Have them practice positive self talk and also watch film on themselves so they can see the mistakes instead of someone always telling them what they are doing wrong. Hope this helps!!
Anyone else notice that he talked about the point guard position for more than 3/4 of the video. Is the point guard really that important? Not trying to be snarky I literally know nothing about basketball other than that you use a basketball.

5 foot 3(kind of tall but not really tall)
3 point: 8.5/10
Mid range: 9/10
Passing: 5.5/10
Handles: 9/10
Interior offense: 4/10
Driving layup: 8/10
Perimeter Defense: 5/10
Interior defense: 2/10(I get bodied)
I played the SF/PF last year but I have developed better outside scoring and ball handling.
Continue to work on your guard skills as you can play a different position then you do for your school team.
Keep working on your shot to keep it consistent. Watch film on yourself to understand the reads on the secondary line of defense after you get by your defender. Hope that helps!
Most situations are the same in basketball it’s all based on your early reads before you get into the interior. Just become familiar with those and have two or three counters to be successful in scoring or making a play for a teammate.
