  • Hello! :)
My name is Aarsha Mukherji. I'm a 15-year-old from Mumbai.
For my school’s IB-MYP Personal Project, I composed a song, wrote original English lyrics for it and sang it in all 22 official languages of India as per the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
I am extremely grateful to everyone who has helped in translating the lyrics and teaching me the languages over the last 4 months. I’ve tried my best to be authentic in my pronunciations, but please forgive me for any errors.
Apart from my parents, there’s one person I couldn’t have done this without-Raja uncle (Raja Narayan Deb)-the fabulous music director who helped me learn so much about arrangement.
This song is about my India, and what I want it to be. It is a beautiful country, but can we make it even more beautiful than it already is?
    Enjoy! :)

@@AmritaMitra-mj6ds Actually, I meant all the nationalities living peacefully in one country. The same situation takes place in Russia where all the different peoples have their republics and regions with their autonomic status. Obviously, you deemed my message to be unclear and controversial because of the word "nationality". My words were about the lack of assimilation policy in your country. So, I wrote nationalities as some multicultural and multinational states have a plethora of problems with their citizens due to "national questions".
The best thing about India is its attitude towards small nationalities. You don't try to assimilate them and make them look like the major part of your nation. This is why I express you my respect!

    Dearest Aarsha Mukherji,
I was enchanted while listening to this song. I must praise you for singing this beautiful piece with such a flawless accent in 22 languages. But a mere praise would be too much less for you as you have not only sang a song, but you have recited an emotion. An emotion which our forefathers used to carry with them while building this nation.
Sister, in the description you have mentioned that you are a 15 year old and called upon us to find the true spirit of "my country" and thrive for it. Today politics , religion and what not has tried to dilute this spirit of our nation. But I assure you your 4 months of continuous stride to the making of this beautiful work would not go in vein. Your idea is our country's idea. I know, today it is tearing apart and have so much less to offer to us. But , our generation will definitely try and make it better for you to say our motherland is my golden pride.
Lastly, I would like to say Maa Saraswati has blessed you with a brilliant voice. keep going and always keep your spirit high about our nation and in a humble way, don't think twice to act against those who try to bring down this spirit.
    Yours affectionately,
    Indian Brother.

Other than the instruments, the lyrics, and the singer's beautiful voice I realized that all the Indian languages together sound so beautiful..like a family that's losing its proximity each day. This country is divided as well as united because of its language and culture that is seen in very few countries. It made me a little emotional that I could feel every language used here belonged to India the way it compliments each other. The more we strengthen this the more we will be unstoppable. No language should patronize any other language regardless of its origin or date of origin especially in India. A country with infinite diversity can either be unstoppable and unbroken or be completed shattered & lost. We're seeing the latter for millennia now. I pray for family unity in the future! Bow to all the prestigious languages of this country. Peace. Jai Hind!
