The FJ is a capable off-road vehicle right out of the showroom floor. Despite having road biased tires, it can tackle light to moderate trails like, muddy terrain, rocky slopes and even river crossings. With the right set of skills and preparation, a stock FJ can take on most off-road challenges. I brought my stock FJ to a number of trails the first year I got it. It performed great. In my opinion, it needs off road tires to be able to perform at its full potential. I think other modifications will increase its performance marginally but tires will greatly improve to what is already a very effective car.

Ask yourself what brand is trusted in more parts of the world off road and just in general. It's simply a Toyota. You have Jeeps around the world but nothing compared to a Toyota. Everyone in the world knows their trusted, reliable and the best. Jeep will only dream of that. Jeep may have America but Toyota has the world.
I know this video does not impress the real offroad enthusiasts, but if you truly believe that a Jeep Liberty is a better vehicle than an FJ Cruiser (or any current 4x4 vehicle on the road for that matter), then you, sir, are a goddamn fool. Jeeps and Yotas are built to outperform each other in specific tasks, but your "rig" is nothing more than a bitch mobile meant for hauling small-to-medium sized groceries and taking your Yorkie to get her nails done. In small print under your Liberty's trail rated badge it says "Only tested in flat dirt parking lot, venture off road at your own risk". Get a Rubicon then we can talk trash to each other chump.

My Jeep Liberty could do that. Although ive only reached about a 20 degree angle not a 25 but still Jeeps are better.
