Peter Maiwald they really aren't though? I've owned a DFGT, G25 and G27 (current wheel) and all of them have been fantastically well made, and feel amazing.
ETS is amazing, just so relaxing and fun because you need to concentrate a lot on the game (traffic, road connections, speed, fuel, health, etc.), but at the same time you can relax and listen to your music. Xplane 11 is great too, but I only wish it had better ATS. I have Transport Fever instead of Train simulator because it solves the City Building itch at the same time.

The reason is that ATS is, and it simple will always be, the worst option of the two. Not only because ats lacks trucks, it also lacks the much bigger community.
I love both games, but I need to get in on those promods for ets2. Much of the base content is sooo bland looking. Washington and Oregon are absolutely my favorite places to drive in either game atm.

Well that's because iRacing *is* the premiere simulator, because of its notoriety and detail you will find the most hardcore sim-racers out there, since many of them are active amateurs on the track in real life, or the actual professionals (One current/former F1 racer was actually banned for the way he drove, he was definitely one of those greedy bitches you mentioned)
At this moment, ETS2 1.32 with ProMods 2.31 is the best simulation game for me. Using a wheel to drive is awesome and very immersive. Driving a truck from Paris France to Barcelona Spain is awesome. (Spain exists only in ProMods, not in the vanilla game.) FS17 has gotten me in a bored state, waiting for FS19 Collectors Edition (pre_ordered).
I've got around 1500 hrs into FS17. That game is engrossing. I run spreadsheets on a separate computer for a lot of different in game stuff. The modding community makes it hard to get away from too. Custom equipment, maps and even a tablet app with various programs for it for in game makes it pretty time devouring. Almost my entire game play is mods.
SH3, Train, Football, Farming Sim 17, PCB, Kerbal - 4 games on this list support VR out of the box (Assetto Corsa, X-Plane 11, IL2-Sturmovik, Euro Truck Simulator 2) - 2 more have more modern VR alternatives: Iron Wolf VR (Subsim) and Derail Valley (Trains) - 1 is playable with VorpX (Farming Simulator 17) That only leaves Kerbal Space Program, the football game and the PC building sim which you don't really have in VR. Everyone interested in sims should probably invest in VR.
I would say Beam-ng simulates real life crash physics more than the actual all around car physics, the car driving is pretty good but I wouldn't call the handling and tire physics exactly sim level either.

I would still have PC edge out AC in terms of being a better overall simulator because PC has a full day/night cycle, weather, and is more VR-friendly. If you wanted to do this based on how accurately it imitates real cars, iRacing should have been in the place of AC (at least back when this video was made). If I were you, I would’ve researched the Racing Sims a LOT more because there is a TON of in-fighting about which is best. GTR2, NR2003, AMS, etc are all considered to be better than most modern titles even though some were released before 2005.

Not even touching the unique/superior modeling of X-Plane's aero surfaces, they also were Linux/Mac's only option for flight sims, since Flight Simulator never made its way to the platforms.

what? how can you make a sim list without adding Sims?! :)) On a more serious note, good list but I would've also added 1 Rally sim, as these are a different and cool beast than Assetto Corsa. Also, a good mention would also go to Elite Dangerous which, even if it cannot be a true sim due to being a SF game set 1.4k years from now, it deserves the mention as it tries to apply as much REAL as possible. Be it on the ships control, star forge engine, economy & politics, etc.
I haven't tried ETS II but American Truck Simulator is pretty darned good. Not realistically accurate but close. And it gets better with each update. I'm surprised it wasn't mention here.
