  • Here's just a little update to part 1 of the Neo128 build. We clean up the video a little bit more and talk about a few other small items. I've received some more parts for this thing, more cool stuff to come soon!
As always, if you want a deeper dive into anything I've done please ask and I'll put something together.
    Here's a great write-up on C128 jailbars.

I really like the c64 lumafix outside to fix the jailbars..... I have a bunch of those boards , so I'm thinking I will bust out the scope and try to calm down the jailbars when I tefit the component board, you said the 1mhz clock gave you the best results, did the aec do much ?

Yeah I was being cheap and didn't want to buy one for the 128, just like you I had a bunch of the 64 boards lying around so I figured I'd give it a shot. Based on a4000bear.neocities.org/jail/C128/C128jailbars I only tried the 1mhz and RAS signals. The AEC pin on the vic-iie is further away from luma than it was on the original vic-ii which is why I think it has less bang for the buck on the 128. I was pretty happy with the result but the sacrifice was having to choose between 64 or 128 mode. You couldn't tune the pots to look good on both modes.

@retrotechinsanity3164 so you *could* get better result for either either different pot settings ?? Thinking about using hacking up 2, 1 for each mode if it gives a good enough reduction

Yeah, if I got 128 mode looking good 64 mode would be a bit noisy or vice versa. If you put two in there would you put a switch between them or something? I'd be afraid of the extra wiring causing another place for noise to get in. These little bastards bleed noise everywhere. Could use shielded coaxial type cable I guess. Interesting thought!
