- We get word from an old timer of a forgotten canyon, deep in the hills of the California mother lode region that is rich in gold still to this day. We are told of a spot that is very hard to access, where a washed out and overgrown roads leads to deer trails down a steep ravine.. If we make it to the river, we must cross it if the flow allows and only then will we be within a decent hike to an area said to be rich in gold! As far as bullet goes looks like fired mini ball possibly 1860s will say it is hard to be exactly sure from short pic and vid of it . It does take some time for lead bullets to develop the white patina. Nice find and well worth keeping

When I was in Folsom CA whenever it rained I guy sat and panned for gold on the street as the water rushed by a long the curb and he had found lots

Good video bud, I agree with you about the wash. I’d go up as far as I could detecting. You would be amazed of the amount of gold I’ve found in streams on top of a mountain, not being anywhere close to a river

Jerry, great little video. Call me corny but l liked the pizza adventures at Mike's too. I like seeing the fun stuff that goes with the quest for gold! When you do the overnighters maybe an entire video of the " hangout" and prepping for the next day with the guys. Then if some folks that just want pure golding videos don't have to watch. Myself l like the comraderie and preparing for the prospecting too! I bet a lot of folks would watch!

At low water levels, you might consider looking in the deeper pools at the Gates of the Antipodes. Probably not all that far from where you are I suspect, and last I looked it wasn't claimed.

If you have some old worn flathead screwdrivers, you can grind a hook shape into it and you’ll have a crebis tool for those small cracks in the bedrock.

Great video, I’ve found a lot of gold under cemented gravels lately while out detecting. 12 pound sledge and a splitting wedge break it all apart and detect the hell out of it, then take it and rake it around and re detect it. Good luck hope you find the big one out there!

IMO The reason is the vertical wall on the rock to the left of that crack creates the right hydraulics in the eddy that forms there in high water. See 10:05. The (video) pan from 9:59 puts the location in perspective.

Cool video brother. I make a pretty good home made pizza too. I do a thinner doe more like Artesian style pizza, the kids seem to think it's pretty good. Thank again for the video it's making me want to get out there for some gold prospecting. Lately all I have been doing is rock hounding some really nice jasper-agate, wood opals, serpentine, and a bunch of other gem stones. But I think it's about time for gold. I feel the fever coming on.

I grew up in San Gabriel CA and growing up in the 70s as kids we used to go up and find allot of gold in the certain areas of the San Gabriel Mountains that can still be found there today, i haven't been in CA in over 25 years, such a lovely state ruined by politics b.s. laws and identity politics, hope one day CA can go back to being the amazing State it once was and still can be, great video, really enjoyed it allot.

I live very close to feather river canyon. Like 15 minutes away. The only problem is I don't know anyone with claims there aside from the prospecting club that I'm in. The claim they own is all in a slow running water area. And since it's a club all the shore has been ran over and over throughout the years. I find some small flood gold every year, but man I would love to work on a claim that goes through areas like that. Which most of the feather river flows faster like that area. It's truely a beautiful canyon. Since I grew up in the area I have heard lots of stories about the old timers finding gold all over here. Especially in the canyon though. Also I wish they would let us dredge again. There is so much more gold to be found in that area. Are you guys working close to the Y by chance? Twain, belldon area?
