Just bought my first orchid - from Costco!! I’ve been scanning your videos and have an order placed for moss, bark, pots, and fertilizer. Question… when you water, do you use tap water? Or maybe spring or distilled?? Thanks.
Hi and welcome to the world of orchid growing! I use reverse osmosis water. If you don't have a home r/o system, you can use a Zero water pitcher. Have a great day! 😇🌸
Great video Amy! Our major events are now happy memories! 😃👰♀️ Now I can get back to taking better care of my houseplants and orchids. Do you think it's too late for me, in North Alabama, to repot some of my orchids and Thanksgiving cacti? I only managed to repot a few of them in the early spring. We've had a wet week, now in the 90's, with more rain next week. I can't wait to see pictures when you get your puppy! 🥰🐕Have a wonderful week. 🙋♀️🌸🐛🦋🐦
Thanks so much, Tammy! You can repot your Phals, just make you check on them often with the heat. I would wait till next spring to repot the TC. It will be easier before they start growing new clades. Blessings! 😇🐶🐕⚘

Amy, after relistening to this video from last June, you mention that you feed your phals MSU. Do you no longer use the Jacks formula with cal mag and seaweed extract. Or perhaps you have changed over to MSU now.

I’ve been using Jack’s 2-part system, but am always respectful of your choices when it comes to orchids. There are so many brands of fertilizer out there that claim to be MSU, how can I know what I’m getting is the real thing?could I ask where you get yours? Hi Marilyn! I do like the MSU. It's an all in one fertilizer, and that makes it easier and faster for me. Also, I like to use a higher ppm in the summer, especially on my large complex hybrid Phals, and it's easy to mix up for them. You can buy it on Amazon. I saw a video recently where someone first soaked their orchid in the fertilzer water and then followed that by rinsing the orchid with plain water. They said this way the roots soak up what they need and then the clear water flushes the mix so salts don't accumulate. Does this make any sense? Note this was for phaelenopsis.
Hi ! I’m in Florida where my lanai is eastern facing but can get warm like the 80/90s. Do you think my phals would be ok in that heat if I put a fan on for circulation? Love your videos Thank you - Sandy
Hi Sandy! If you're going to try a new location with your orchids, try moving just one...not your favorite one...and see how it does. Then you'll see if it does well and if you like it... with minimal damage if it doesn't work out. Happy growing! :)

I enjoy not worrying about the ppm and this formula can be used with tap, RO or distilled water. So more flexibility. But what brand do you use⁉️ I’m interested in knowing if there are all the same formulas and do you use all year round⁉️ should we use a bloomer formula once a month in winter

Everyone fertilizes differently. As long as you get results, that's the main issue.

I use to use msu, what are your measurements to get ppm or you going by direction on label, is their a reason you stopped jacks A B?
Hi Nancy! I use a TDS meter to measure the MSU amounts. Nothing wrong with the Jack's, just decided to try the MSU and I like it. Happy growing! :)

Some of us have tweaked the jacks recipe A/125ppm and B75 ppm , that’s it no added cal mag or seaweed, simple
