Sir, MPhil holders are exempted from SET. So I think NET/ SET/MPhil/ SLET is correct. In some states like Kerala, to appear for SET exam BEd is compulsory. So there is a vagueness in SET.

Upar upar dikhate hai ki phd is not mandatory but internally phd hi sab kuchh hain sirf bade bade statement likhne se nahi hota jab tak api score ka waitage kam nahi hota.

Net is not essential if u have completed phd...but if u r net jrf cum phd...u will get 40 marks in api score...just phd...u will get 30 marks in api...just net...8 marks and jrf net without phd just 10 marks. Phd candidates would get more marks in api score compared to plain jrf net or simple net.

Kya matlab iska, phd ke 20 points hai and slet ka 5 & net ka 8.. to only net/slet vale vaise bhi merit me nahi aane vale and they will be not shortlisted for the interview of assistant professor. Sab pahele jes a hi rahene vala he isse koi fark nahi padega. Agar net/slet compulsory and uske sath phd ka extra diya hota to fark padta.

Agar merit me top pe rehna hai to Ph.D ki jarurat padegi hi padegi. For example koi clg me assistant professor ki vacancy hai to jitne bhi log apply karenge unka merit list banega aur 1 post ke liye top 6 merit list candidates ko interview ke liye bulayenge. To agar aapka Ph.D hai tabhi aap top 6 me aayenge. Varna NET/SET set vale merit list me down honge compared to Ph.D candidates, so most probably they will not be in top 6

Very true point.. I think GATE is more tough than NET.. I have qualified both. lekin GATE se IIT/ NIT me PhD me entry lena etna asaan nehi hai... maine ek saal se interview diya hoon PhD ka GATE ke through iss baar mila hai mereko 2 IITs and 2 NITs me... Science wale students ko pata hai india ke reputed scince institute/universities se PhD karna etna asaan nehi hai, even entry karna bhi mushkil hai...First you have to qualify GATE, than IIT/NIT/IISER/IISc will take an another written test among all the GATE, NET-JRF, NHBM qualified students, If you qualify this written test than they will take a long interview, aur sab thik thak gaya to aapka selection ho sakta hai PhD me.. So Its enough for Science Students.
