Came from 13 pro max and glad I did. In the hand it's night and day, the 15 is so much nicer to handle. Have had zero problems, no heat issues, no glitches or crashes. I charge to 80% and it lasts a full day, still 100% health. A great phone all around.

Since I’ve gotten the iPhone 15 Pro Max, I’ve dealt with the overheating issue, some issues with battery drain. But with software updates and time, the phone has performed so much better. I do feel the iPhone needs a bigger battery. They were on to something with the iPhone 10R but since then, they haven’t continued that push. I hope they do push for a bigger battery come the 16 lineup.
So far I love the camera and the action button. I’ve used it for mute, then switched it to shortcuts and also the home app. So far I’m still debating between using it for the home app or for shortcuts. I hope next year Apple will expand on the action button and create some killer features for it on the 16 lineup cause it’s great to use in a pinch.

Dog ate my remote for a roku TV which is the primary TV for watching Netflix, gaming, etc. instead of replacing the remote for a second time I made a shortcut for the app and set it to my action button. This isn’t the most ground breaking shortcut, but one that I find it actually more practical then silent mode, camera, etc. reason being because its already really easy to launch camera in several ways and to toggle silent mode in control centre. Another reason I like it on the roku remote is because there is a temporary delay in the app connecting to your a TV via wifi. So this basically means the remote is always ready before I have even fully lifted my arm.

great review. you asked about the action button:
In portrait mode, or face up, it'll bring up a menu where I can toggle: the silent mode, the flashlight, the rotation lock, the hotspot, open the camera in photo mode, open the camera in panoramic mode, open the camera in movie mode. open my shortcuts folder, or take quick photo (opens the camera, snaps and saves a picture, and and then exits)
when rotated to the right (action button on top) it'll open the camera ready to take a photo.
when rotated to the left (action button bottom) it'll open the camera ready to take a video.
it'll do nothing when face down or upside down.
Honestly, I love the action button and am trying to think of things I might be able to do when it's face down. Maybe set a 1 hour timer for a nap...

Flippity Doo-da is a game changer shortcut for doing different things based on the iPhone’s orientation. It becomes super natural once you start using it. I have it silence the phone if the screen is down or open the camera if the action button is up and the iPhone is in landscape. It can even start a new query to ChatGPT 4 with Bing if I have the iPhone upright in portrait. It’s like having a new smarter Siri with the other button in many ways! You can choose the actions to be whatever you want. Those are just some of the things that I do.

My fave feature of the 15 Pros has to be the lighter titanium frame. My kids bought the mid year dark green 13 Pro, and I've always disliked the weight of their phone. Having held the new Pro phones in my local Apple Store, colour me impressed. I'll definitely be upgrading from my XS to a 15 Pro next year, ... just haven't decided which one. I was a loyal Apple customer until my iPhone 6S bent in my pocket, I was very dissatisfied with what happened and even more so with the fact that Apple had not authorized the exchange of the device, which made me even more dissatisfied, as we all know that the iPhone 6s had a clear error in the device's construction design. Since 2017, I have always bought the Galaxy S line and currently have an S23 Ultra, which I really like. I came to look at this review because I'm considering buying an iPhone again after 6 years...but I'm not so sure about it...Let me know if you think it would be the right decision to make or not...Thank you and congratulations for this review.

Coming from a 2 year old 13 pro max, the battery on this 15 pro max has been a sad change. I get maybe 6 hours less of battery life and im not doing anything different. My 13 would go all day into the night and I would charge next morning. As im typing this my 15 has been off the charger for about 4 hours and already down to 84 percent. Im hoping its an easy software fix, but I am missing my 13 pro max a ton these days. The action button is also something I never use. Then again I never used the mute switch on any other iphone either. They can get rid of it completely if you ask me.

Remove the camera app icon from the home screen and you will learn to only use the action button to launch the camera. Also, removing the redundant icon from the home screen gives you more space for another, more useful icon.

I’ve had a lot of overheating issues when playing Tetris of all things. I’ve had to put a case on because of that. This was in iOS 17.1.x. I’ll try again now with 17.2. Overall I’m happy with it, and would only upgrade from the 14 if you need the 5x zoom (which I use a lot).

I like the build and cameras and all that again. I got too close to a fire taking pictures and the frame looked burned the next day in one spot. But then it returned to normal color. 😯
Biggest complaint? I love that it’s got more juice for games, but the heat when playing those games has been rough. I usually can’t play intense games while it’s charging cause then it’s super hot 😂.

You don’t have to press the camera button on the Lock Screen. Just swipe left anywhere on the Lock Screen to get to the camera. That camera button is redundant and useless on the Lock Screen. Swiping is faster anyway. Just wake screen swipe left anywhere.

To the people who think their speakers are blown in their iPhone 15 Pro Max need to stop thinking about that. THEY ARE NOT BLOWN!! It’s just the air rushing through the meshes. Obviously, a speaker sounds better without a grill. If the speaker buzzes at certain frequencies rather than most of them or all of them, then it’s an obvious sign that your speakers are not blown. I already made a video lecturing about people complaining about the speakers and people taking their iPhone to Apple to inspect the speakers and replace the phone. My iPhone 13 Pro Max speakers buzzed. Mr iPhone 11 speakers buzzed. My iPhone XR speaker buzzes and it’s probably the worst because they’re super dirty. When your speakers are dirty, it really makes the air harder to come out of the meshes especially because they have tiny holes. They aren’t really blown unless if you have a defective device.

First, I want a slightly larger battery, not a ton bigger, but 10% bigger would make the battery even more amazing. second, I want faster charging (not massively quick, but 60W fast charging, 25w wireless charging and a bigger battery would be great.

Thank you for pointing out the problem with usb-c vs. lightning. Most iphone users will have lightning equipped iphones for the foreseeable future so our interaction with family and friends will be a cable switching routine for a while. The future is wireless carplay, data transfer, Qi2 type charging, etc. and I’m looking forward to it. The wired connector routine is so archaic and 20th century. Hopefully true wireless charging can be achieved too sometime soon.

You really do have to start using shortcuts. If you put some thought into it, you can customize your phone to be a productivity beast. I designed a combination of shortcuts and focus modes that get me to be able to get to every action I do on my phone in up to 2 clicks. It includes fast dialing and texting, open specific settings, open specific apps, navigating to certain locations etc etc. Each action is completed in 1-2 clicks on the screen . It’s very powerful!

Folks, I've just had the battery replaced on my 6 year-old iPhone X, and I feel I'm good to go for another 6, or until I can't upgrade the OS anymore and, say, banking apps stop being compatible. Other than that, I don't really see a case to upgrade. I have a spectacular OLED screen, 256GB of storage, and enough oomph for light video editing or the od game. There's been no progress in terms of battery tech, so that's what I'm holding out for. I'll happily shell out 1.500 Euros for a micro-led, 20x optical zoom, solid-state 2 week battery, and under-screen front camera/face-ID. Until then, I'm staying put. What I'm saying is, get a good case, take care of your stuff. Someone's worked hard to scratch those materials out of the ground. You don't have to get a Furphone or whatever it's called in order to aim for sustainability. Ten years is perfectly achievable for a phone, and upgrading is sooo much more satisfying if it's an actual leap. (It was great going from the 4s to the X...)
