    I would never advocate for a child being taken away from a parent, but I cannot imagine how a child actually lived in that environment. She probably walked around smelling as bad as the kitchen sink and ridiculed by her classmates. This is obviously mental illness but the child and mother need intervention and therapy. Bless you Auri for what you do!.

    • @SLUBUG
      @SLUBUG หลายเดือนก่อน +465

      I think the children should have been taken away temporarily. Like they should have been with their aunt. Until the mom got herself together. This was cruel to do to a child, 2 children for that matter.

    • @ana84br

    • @freelancecat
      @freelancecat หลายเดือนก่อน +121

      I wouldn’t say never..it is a good thing sometimes. Someone needs to speak up for them…but the parents should get a chance to turn things around and get their kids back, depending on why they were taken.

    • @sagisli
      @sagisli หลายเดือนก่อน +306

      @@ana84br Any parent that allows a child to live like that isn't loving. It's cruel and it's a form of child abuse. Not only will the child/children not develop properly, they will miss out on the joy of inviting friends over and doing things that teenagers do. The shame associated with living like manifests in low self esteem, social withdrawal and apathy. It's one thing to have a sink full of dishes, it's an entirely different thing to have food composting in your sink and have vegetation growing. This particular video triggered me because children are involved.

    There was a girl I went to elementary school with and she was lovely but she smelled so bad :/ I’m so sensitive to smell to the point of nausea that I would avoid her. Neither I or the other kids could wrap our head around how it was possible to smell like that. People were so mean to her it was awful. I remember wondering why she wouldn’t just shower or wash her clothes. And now in my adult life I look back and feel even worse knowing she probably lived in a home like this and was very neglected. She probably didn’t HAVE a working shower or clean clothes. So heartbreaking. I think about her from time to time and hope she was able to get away and is doing well. I wish her nothing but love and happiness. I’m so sorry Linda.

      My friend wasn't allowed to wash as a kid. She was allowed a bath (using the water her 6 siblings used first) once a week. You never know what goes on behind the scenes. Naturally she was bullied for being the smelly, underweight kid in old broken clothes

      I had a friend like this, and even as a kid who played in dirt etc I found it hard to in her home. As adult I can look back and see that her parents had addiction problems and were high all the time and didn't work. I remember trying to clean her room once with her and her mattress was ripped, and she had no toys and it was basically a dump room by room. Not as bad as this but a dump. One day, she just stopped coming to school and I think I remember walking to her house once, but no one answered the door. My parents didn't even like her because she smelt bad and had no manners.

      There was a boy in my class like this only he was quite overweight as well, probably from living off of prepackaged food. Idk what his home life was like, but as an adult looking back, I’m heartbroken for him. It can be hard to understand, but I know what it’s like. In my mid 20s, I was clean, loved to wipe down my kitchen, desk, vacuum and enjoyed cleaning the bathroom. I even had about 300 houseplants that I cared for and wiped its leaves everyday. They were thriving and everything was so organized.
      Then I started getting horrible flashbacks of memories my brain had suppressed. Memories of DV, SA and neglect from when I was a child. I spiraled and it broke me completely. I became extremely depressed and lacked energy to do anything. I just wanted to lay down and cry all day. My home became cluttered, every surface piled on with stuff. Moldy veggies and old food containers under trash…
      Then I found Auri’s channel and saw how compassionate she was to people who need help. I felt encouraged to tackle one area at a time, and started putting all the trash in bags. Threw it out, and felt even better after wiping down tables and counters. Although they get stuff piled on it again almost immediately, I am able to throw away all the trash before they get moldy. Sink is clear now and I like to wash dishes everyday. However, a lot of my home is still cluttered, and I feel overwhelmed when I try to tackle it.
      Watching more of Auri’s cleaning while I clean helps and I’m decluttering little by little. Seeing a therapist and the more I get help, the more energy I get back to take care of my home and myself. I hope my story shines some light on why the mother in this video can’t keep a clean home. I grew up in a hoarder home too (not bad though, just super cluttered), and when I spiraled into that same habit, it’s hard to get out of.

I had to get rid of the lice (unfortunately, I didn’t know until it had spread through the house) and teach her how to brush her hair. She was a 4th grader and didn’t know teeth are brushed twice a day, every day, for 2 minutes. They also had scabies and ringworm. The judge sent the little one back because it’s important she be with her mom.
      Even if your niece goes back, she’ll remember most of the stuff. Hang in there! I hope your sister gets the help she needs. Unless she just sucks. In that case, may she never be entrusted with a child again.

I started watching your videos because it makes me want to clean while you do, but I've come to really, really care and take interest in the people and their struggles. In the last 7 years I've lost my dad, the best dog I'll ever own, my husband died in a traumatic accident, and my mother's cancer is back. I know I can easily become one of these people who needs your help if I don't consistently face my trauma, and clean and do things even when I don't want to, and because of that, I feel a connection to a lot of the people you help. I'm so happy you're in this world, and I'm so grateful you share your talents with such a genuine, caring heart. Thank you for being you!!! ❤❤❤

    Hearing the sister say that they suffered extreme trauma as children so now they prioritize making their own children happy over things like housework reminded me of my mother. She was abused and orphaned as a child and acquired BPD as a result. Being a good mom was all she wanted in life, but she thought that meant big Christmases, vacations at the beach, leniency, and lots of affection...the things she had missed out on. She didn't realize that growing up in a home filled with animal filth, clutter, and sadness was really harming us, and we would have been far happier in a stable, tidy home where we could feel normal and secure.

    I cleaned out my father and stepmother's home after she died of cancer. It was large, had multiple people living there with some of her extended family on drugs. She got sick towards the beginning of Covid, so my kids and I had not been over except to drop off food sometimes. I hadn't been in for years because of my severe cat allergy. My father, in his 80s, developed dementia at the same time. It looked similar to this home, but with dogs and more cats than anyone could count. We had to evict some of the people, then take the animals to shelters. It took 20 dumpsters to clear it out. In addition to many broken windows, we learned there were broken water pipes and a ruined furnace. I had to wear a respirator the entire time, and even through that, the smell was awful. You did an amazing job Auri!
    It was concerning to me that the sister (voice) obviously had a lot of sympathy for her sister (house owner), which is good... But didn't seem to have much remorse or concern for the children who have no option to live anywhere else and are reliant on a parent to change the situation as it would be beyond them - I hope social services are involved, not least they can arrange extra help to clear the house for free and support the children

      I have a friend who is a social worker. She said the worst part of her job is when she has to remove children because of a dirty house… the parents love their children and the children love the parents, but social workers DO NOT arrange to have homes cleaned for free. Involving CPS is guaranteeing the children will be taken, which is also traumatic. If the house stays clean, that is what matters. But I do wish the sister found a way to intervene sooner because I agree this is unacceptable for children (or anyone) to live in.

Luckily I have never gone more than two weeks. But I am so afraid of bugs, mice or whatever that I just can't allow my kitchen or bathroom to get too dirty.
