Great video guys 👍 Sean could you explain what a scout does on a day to day basis and what levels of scouting are there at a Cat 1 football club. We hear snippets of what you do but it would be good to listen to what happens when looking at players to when they are in the academy system 👍
Dribbling isn’t only about taking on defenders. Players like Kimmich that Rob references use dribbling as a key skill as well. Navigating tight spaces and dealing with pressure are key skills that controlling midfielders need to master which still requires dribbling
iam from Barcelona and i can tell you my son had his first trial with FC barcelona and the thing the coches want to see is polyvalent a plyer which can play various positions and my son is 5 they want to see spirit now a days all the kids are dribblers they need people who stand out they said technical stuff it is not important itis more vision and the spirit what is catching them
Also another quick question, do you think ex professional football players kids get preference over other academy kids who’s parents haven’t played at a professional level? Do scouts factor that in when selecting kids? It’s just it seems like parents DNA can be important.
Tim said he doesn’t teach finishing. I kinda did the opposite with my kid. We did a lot of 1v1 so naturally he would score often. And I taught him good shooting form. Then when he joined a club they always played him up top and he scored a lot. Part of my reasoning is that I think finishing is part psychology. It can be intimidating when in front of goal, you can lose composure. So I think the more you acclimate to the pressures and visuals of being near goal, then the more composed and better decisions you can make. But I do admit that this comes at the cost of maybe not developing technically as fast as others because the striker doesn’t always get many touches on the ball.
Btw my son is 9 now. 3rd year of comp soccer in California. I think there are many paths in developing. Not necessarily a right or wrong way. Heung Min Son’s path was very different than Ronaldinho’s
@@nofurtherwest3474yeah watched the Son documentary. His father made them to kick ups and not shoot as it not good for the ligaments later on in life. Just learn ball control at first. You don't need to teach children finishing. CR7 is the one of the greatest goalscorers of all time but started out as a winger. Van Nistelrooy started in midfield. When he was put up front then he started changing his mentality about scoring goals
@@suhailzamir8928 where can I watch the Son documentary? I didn't know shooting was not good for ligaments. I wonder if that's actually true. Pretty much every kid under the sun loves to shoot. Uhh winger is a forward and must be a decent goal scorer, so you're point is moot. Yes some forwards started as midfielders, and some midfielders started as forwards. And some forwards started as forwards. There are various paths. And yes finishing can be learned later... but its a lot of fun to score goals, so if you are not encouraging and teaching this a at young age you are taking out some fun, and kids just want to have fun.
@@nofurtherwest3474 not all wingers were strikers. When Ronaldo started playing the main formation was 442. Provide to the strikers occasionally score.... Van Nistelrooy was a midfielder...mo salah was a full back harry kane a midfielder . Greatest goal scorers started playing different positions at youth level. Also I'm not sayin not to teach kids how to strike the ball or shoot. Finishing is an art strikers need to learn and hit the back of the net from any position. It's a speciality
@@suhailzamir8928 I hear what you're saying. Harry Kane is one of my favorites, I already knew he was a midfielder. But midfielders and wingers tend to score a lot too. At the same time, Messi was always a scorer and assister his whole life since he was a kid. Well... partly its not up to me. My kid's club plays him at striker for 3 years now. I think every kid should learn the fundamentals and good technique. Some will gravitate to scoring more than others naturally. But, at its essence, the game requires goal scoring. Just as in any sport, you need to score point to win. This is literally the point of any game. This is why... many midfielders are very good technically but not very good scorers. They might dribble past 3 players then shoot it wide or miskick it. You have to be composed and calm near the goal, which to me is part mental. Also, I was thinking my kid should learn one position well to give him the best shot at playing at high level. But probably he won't make it far, I think he will not work hard enough, for any position, even though he's talented. But still I will keep working with him. Now he is moving to bigger field 9v9, so he will have a bit more space and can play some winger. So now I want to focus on 1v1s and shooting from wider angle. He loves to score so to keep him playing I want him to enjoy it and score.
How can you say nobody wants to tackle at the age of 7 thats like saying nobody wants to pass so does that mean a child is not a good passer because when they get older teams get smarter and learn to cut out passes so just passing in a straight line at 7 does that make you clever.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but if you’re saying Declan Rice hides from the ball and Trent is a good defender then I question if you watch football at all. Rice absolutely ran the show at Anfield this season and has multiple man of the match awards for England. Even the Italians were shocked we took him off in the Euro Final (Zola interview). If you watched Rice on a regular basis you would see there’s more to his game than you want to believe, regardless of what agenda you have against him.
Going to do an analysis of what I’m saying about Rice because a lot of people are refusing to accept that he doesn’t show for the ball well under pressure. There is an agenda in favour of Rice, not against him. About Trent, I think I said he’s not a bad defender rather than saying he’s a good defender. He’s been an awful defender THIS SEASON. He’s also been fine very consistently for 4 years, plus the ridiculous attacking output he gives Liverpool.
@Sean Conlon thanks Sean, my son is age 7 and GK’s seem to get neglected a lot in grassroots football, I was just wondering if it’s the same in academy’s
This is why Tim needs to stop living his dream through his son and let him go to school and mix with kids his own age. Not having football as the only thing in his life from a baby as that is very damaging for a 12 yr old. Education and social skills are needed too away from a ball
Tim looking awkward as doesn’t send his kids to school they kick a ball all day at home and dance to tik tok. His kids don’t have friends at all they are under the watchful eye of the parents 24/7
But Tim you don’t allow your kids to watch tv or play with toys or have pictures in their rooms or go to school. They are being controlled by you to the extreme so they bring money in so you don’t have to work
Babz are you okay? Have you seen this generation watching tv is the worse thing you can do. Heze has friends lots he socialises a lot. They all go to events and they have cousins. Heze LOVES football, Tim won’t be mad if Heze didn’t want to do it anymore. Stop tryna blame him cause you ain’t that gifted.
@@babz7051 lol i ain’t Tim, good supporter of them, I just don’t know why you thought it was okay to spread so much negativity on this page. If Heze and the other kids go school it’s less time to do TH-cam and do the things they want to do, they have a brand and a business to keep up with. You are definitely going through something babz go find help star. Every family works different what worked for you probably wont be good for them. Ursell dropping knowledge
There’s no correlation between order of offers and retention in clubs. It’s wrong to think if you’re offered last that you are less liked by a club
