I’ve downgraded from APS-C to MFT because of lightness. Not sure it was the right move though… I’m not so happy with the results. But I travel with two bodies and 5 lenses instead of 1 body and 2 lenses. It’s a huge difference. I’m not sure if I get more bandwidth / ability though. Now I’m thinking to sell it all and go full frame because I’ll only need one body and one lens to do everything the MFT collection can do.
An excellent series - well thought through, well put together and very well delivered. Much appreciated. Thank you! A small suggestion in case you plan to revisit these at some point - a few counter-examples of photos which don't work in your opinion, because the patterns weren't applied well, would bring each of the insights and lessons to life even more powerfully. It is bit surprising to me to see someone using the central parts of the frame so much just as I do most of the time. Good tutorials.

The dynamic range on a lot of these shots is wild. How I do that?
By using bracketing
Absolutely loving this series! Way better than college, I should know; they made me teach! I do wonder if this vid will end with the good old ten shots a day challenge and was wondering if you had any others for a) people shooting film, and b) people in small towns. I am not confident that I can, for example, practice many colours in my town; we have an abundance of green foliage and red brick, the rest is tarmac black or sky grey!
9:30 you adding the person actually balances the image out bc the top left has the light that is throwing the balance off so adding the person on the bottom right makes it even actually

For this video I have to say I don't really get it. Maybe balance isn't something I look for in photos, but for me a lot of the photos weren't the tranquil, eye-resty things you mentioned. Except the first one, I really like that one, because it felt like the mountain tip was the opposite of the moon, if you look at its positioning in the photo. Once you mentioned the mt. Fuji/roof balance, I think that sorta woulda worked too, if that rightmost tree wasn't there.

I'm laughing because I had so many questions but you basically answered it at the end, I just got so excited, basically harmony is using all the visual pattern, colors, symmetrical and asymmetry basically they're all good on their own but together creates harmony and combining them all allows you to find your balance. like salted caramel, I like that thank u
ooo is there a time and place for asymmetrical photos? or do you think find symmetry first then ou can break the rules later? I remember I met a fashion designer when I was part of a shoot and at my wardrobe fitting, they mentioned that he LOVES asymmetry and I was wondering if that applies to photos as much as it applies to clothes, but then I see this picture with the pink buildings being symmetrical and the man throwing off the balance, so you can have both... thats how you create harmony

@@LouisLuzuka My favorite lens is my 12-24 GM 2.8 since I love using foreground elements and being able to shoot in close quarters. 14-18 is a really good sweet spot to fight the distortion but the distortion can be used creatively as well. How about yours?
@@josesalgado2796 oh wow that sounds like an awesome lens! I just started practicing using foreground foliage with my go pro hero 7 it’s about a 19mm equivalent with linear field of view because I can shoot my self portraits while I go on my walks. But if i had to pick a wide, I’d definitely go with my 10-18mm it’s definitely not the brightest lens but it’s razor sharp I’m considering a 1/8th mist for it and I will definitely try punching in a bit to fight the distortion. I often like to get the shot and get out but thanks to you I will consider taking my time to dial it in a bit more. Other than that, I’m practicing with the 55-250mm lens with a speed boooster I often find myself around 65-105mm it just gives that separation and isolation that I love, but wide open I get a vignette that I don’t hate it’s definitely stylish if you don’t mind it!
notification gang checking in, ive been working on getting my vision like you said, taking 27 photos a day isn't hard the only parts I feel that are slowing me down is
1.) importing my files, I always leave them in my memory card and import them when my 256GB is full or if im shooting a gig, I'll bring my card in
2.) editing. I try and get everything as close as possible and expose for the shot instead of correcting in post, but u said editing is the polish
I haven't built the habits to have less friction in order to export 27 photos per day but I'm working on it, do you have any advice or is it just something you have to do?
I love the taking picture but I haven't loved the 2nd half which is the edit but I'm getting there!!
I do appreciate when it is edited it does feel finished, like a chef w/ garnish on top
but sometimes I just want to take pictures and quickly (aka fast food)
