I'm a parent myself. The protectiveness you'll feel for these kids, and the empathy you'll feel for the adults are what will draw you into the show. The story is awesome, but the characters are what'll keep you watching. Great choice for a reaction series. Keep going. It only gets better. 🤗❤️

Alright! Ok...so the evolution of Hopper is what I think really gripped me. Everything else about the show is awesome, yes...but when he showed that he could actually investigate, I was really drawn in. Looking forward to the rest of the series! :D

I love that even the theme song screams the 80's. Where were the parents in the 80's? They were not being helicopter parents, we could be gone all day, without cell phones and come home safe before dark. The 80's just rocked to be a teen. These kids were my age at the time, brought back so many memories! Wait until season 2 a lot more pop culture! The one and only Norman Reedus loves this show too!
Sure have, my kids dream of this kind of freedom. Probably why my 12 and 14 year old sons are jealous of my teen years, I can reach them anywhere, Thank God!
It's still like that in China. Obviously less so now with the pandemic but even now parents are just waiting for the germs to die down so they can set their children loose on their town/suburb again.

Netflix has released whole seasons of shows for a while, but this was one of the first shows to really take advantage of the model. It is built for binge watching.
Some actor notes: David Harbour, who plays Sheriff Hopper, is the new Hellboy in the upcoming film. There's been a publicity photo of him in makeup, where he naturally looks basically identical to Ron Pearlman in the role. Chris Sullivan, who plays the sadly short-lived Benny, is now well known as Toby on This Is Us. Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike, is child Richie in the recent It duology (Bill Hader is looking like he'll play the adult version). Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin, you likely recognize from his current ad campaign for Fios. He really does have a congenital condition that caused his front teeth to not come in properly, and has used his position on the show to raise awareness of it.

Being alone in the house and riding bikes at night in the neighborhood was how we rolled in 1983. Our parents worked and we took care of the household chores -- that's where the term "latchkey kid" came from. I was exactly the same age as these characters in 1983 --- I have a special and deep love for this series. The attention to detail -- set dressings, hairstyles, wardrobe, etc is amazing!!!
LOVED this series. And I became a huge fan of the kids right from the scene where they were being questioned by the police, and started bickering amongst themselves about whether "Mirkwood" was from Lord of the Rings or from The Hobbit. I became a huge Tolkien nerd in grade school, so I thought this scene was awesome. :-D

Love the kid's stuff, the upside down, the monster, the backing tracks, it takes place in the 80s, and it's on that middle point between family friendly and creepy & gore. Hi guys. I just started watching stranger things last week and I've been binge-watching it since last week and I am finally on season 3 but not completely done yet. It's a great show and I am loving how it's set in the 80s and you can see all this retro stuff and its just so cool.
Nikki I feel you. You will identify with Winona Ryder. Steve you will identify with chief Hopper. This show is about strength raw, emotional; and visceral. The more you watch. The more you want to protect. Yet the more you watch the more you root for the characters to stand on their own, be it kid or adult.

Yeah, there's a lot of angst. The kids, the mom and sheriff and adults. There is more to it, you'll see as you watch further. -- The kids, though, can be heroic, but are still true to how real kids would act. Likewise the teens. There is a real 80's and Goonies vibe to the show. Not my usual genre (I love science fiction) but this show is great. Pretty much each episode is quality. great music too. They've done a fine job of scary suspense, science fictio, characterization. One of the best shows I've ever seen. You'll be amazed what else happens! (and yes, anyone who cares about kids will feel for these kids, but you'll see how it goes.)

The reason I love this show is because it has a lot of homages to old classic movies I know and love (Spielberg movies for example).
something I love about this show is the cinematography is very genuine. It feels like it was filmed in the 80s.
