Also, Hailey spent a few months in China, and learned Chinese in Taipei, Taiwan about 2.5 years ago.
Her Chinese is quite good, probably 5th grade level, and her husband Adam's Chinese is even better.
( I presume she learned a bit of Chinese from her church's training.)

Taiwan's next on my list once I'm done here in Japan.
I travelled to Taiwan all by myself in march 2019 it was very safe travelling solo.... I felt more safe than in Australia!

One of my classmate is from Korea,she and her family move to Taiwan to study because they want to learn Chinese.She said if they can speak Chinese,they can communication with the businessmen from China.
I asked her that why don't you and your family learn Chinese in China,you want to communication with Chinese people in future,not Taiwanese,don you?We have the same language,but our character and culture are different.
Then she shook her head immediately and said:"NO WAY!China is too horror!"

@@MindyMa 我用中文回答你。每個人都不同，大陸像我這樣的也不在少數，台灣比大陸更有傳承，更尊重傳統，在我心裡潛意識里，我甚至認為我是屬於民國的（可能是民國電視劇看的比較多吧，喜歡的作家也是民國的遺產）。我去過中國很多城市，感覺完全沒有人情味（重慶，成都稍好，北京上海完全沒意思）。認識的幾位台灣朋友也都十分友好，有意見不同也能各抒己見不會為這種事情爭吵。不管怎麼樣，我認為信仰是很重要的，希望能在尊重和傳統中，找到自己的戰場，不管台灣還是中國

台灣不止中華民國同時也是中華民國。In actuality, Taiwan is more multi-cultured in the sense of races and customs.
300年來的沿岸中華文化、日本殖民地的50年、戰後美國的資助、各地傳教士的文化、與世二戰後120萬人中華民國政府的政權與全民教育。近期還有東南亞移工的文化。

留學時互相幫助過的中國同學，真的比較自我甚至“單純”。
我看《羅輯思維》可以不認同但是欽佩。（聽說他被禁了）

但是嘛，被那些學完PRC九年國民教育、或是利用大學VPN翻牆的自幹五[毛]罵，還是會生氣。 那些因著成長環境與教育，認為世界是由他來征服的中二， 讓我抱怨這麼長串。

各個國家都有好人與壞人，只是比例問題。 而PRC的打壓方法雖有效，但是只會使人民嚮往更好的創意與安康的社會。
當中國PRC有自尊（不是自傲），讓台灣（中華民國）有空間發展，就會更多互動而不是一日內封鎖所有到台的自由行。
當中國能實施出更好的民主與社會主義改良規範，反而會全世界的人想移民去那， 不是嗎？
台灣（中華民國）也嚮往清廉、勤政、愛民的政府，願能永續經營繼續改進。

在臺灣學中文的好處是，到處都有小老師，臺灣人都會願意幫助他人；
加上生活十分便利，生活條件算不錯，除了能賺錢，也能真正存到錢。
臺灣到處是好山好水，好風景，十分適合旅遊，尤其是東部花東一帶。

I think there are also other reasons why non-Chinese (and in particular westerners) will find life in Taiwan very comfortable. 1. You mentioned the plethora of food, but there’s also a lot of western food chains: Starbucks, McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, Dominos, TGIFs, Cold Stone Ice Cream, Dunkin Donuts and more. Then there are imitations: Mister Donut and Moes Burgers. All to satisfy those late night cravings. Then there’s transportation like the MRT which is English. Every stop and every sign is in English. Highway signs are in English. Most young people speak English (albeit not fluent). TV has quite a few channels that are in English. It’s a very well developed country. Condominiums and apartments built in last 30 years are also very modern. These are just some of the additional reasons that basically say to non Chinese “Welcome to Taiwan!”
Morse Burger and Mr. Donut are Japanese fast-food chains. ;)

I would also add a fully developed country with top notch transportation system. It's very easy and cheap (compared to Europe or Japan) to move across the island. The size is good too. Big enough to offer diversity from mountain to beaches and big cities but small enough to make everything reachable in less than a day by train or bus.
Yeah. It is pretty amazing to surf the morning waves, walk through luscious forest, and then play in the snow within 6 hours or 1 day.

@@AxelCalvet Well, Taiwan is a tropical island. You can ski from December through April if you go all the way up to YuShan (Jade Mountain 玉山）but there are no resort. Maybe there are training grounds for the military or for the professional athletes.
*We usually fly to South Korea and Japan to ski.* ;) I think there are ski resorts in China also.

不過東南亞感覺外國人更喜歡去越南或泰國I think more pople choose to go to Vietnam or Thailand than Taiwan in East South Asia.
去越南是因為越戰後越裔美國人很多。
去泰國的超多， 不少歐美人弄不清楚 台灣與泰國的分別。
但是目前相比下來泰國的衛生、便利 與安全沒台灣好。
台灣是悠閒同時有效率。
可以跟去夏威夷度假比噢。
