He passed right before this song came out. It is not known how he passed. Derek's girlfriend died of Cancer, 5 months later Derek passed. Thank you for your reaction! The parallels that Ronnie points out about the similarities between vampirism and his (former) heroin addiction, it's just incredible. This version makes it clear just how dark the lyrics really are. Ronnie is a visionary. Mark my words, he will go down as one the greatest talents in the last 100 years I'm talking bigger than Elvis.

Still a better love story than Twilight. The girl is Ronnie’s girlfriend, WWE Diva Paige, now in AEW going by her real name, Saraya. They are amazing together! This was filmed at their house during the pandemic and it’s just so fantastic! Derek Jones was their guitarist (not the shredder, that’s Jacky Vincent). He had been with Ronnie from the beginning of Falling in Reverse, in fact, it was Derek who picked Ronnie up when he was released from prison. Derek’s wife had passed away from cancer in 2019, and Derek followed a few months later. Ronnie says his only regret at really blowing up now and playing arenas and the level the band is at now, is that Derek isn’t here to see it and be with them.
Of course not every band could redo songs to this level but I agree if you've grown as a musician and have older songs that you just feel weren't expressed the way you wanted them absolutely do them again and let them shine in a new light. Ronnie wrote the 2 he's redone when he was in jail and a really dark place in his life but the style at the time and his talent level wasn't where he could give them the meaning he wanted.
When the Drug in Me is You and I'm Not a Vampire were originally released, Ronnie had just gotten out of prison and pretty much went straight to the studio. He wrote the whole first album in prison, but couldn't really sing aloud in prison so he came out sounding a little rusty. But his voice sounds better and better as time passes. Even when he sings the old "I'm Not a Vampire" live, his voice sounds like the Revamped version, just faster.

I don't recall when exactly I first saw "I'm Not A Vampire (Revamped)" MV, I think it was last year, but I was shook :) I literally played it on repeat for hours on end. It's glorious. I did watch the original sometime after, definitely had a different vibe but it's cool.

In its original release, it was a punk rock type song and was light hearted. Ronnie and an Irish composer revamped it for its 10 year anniversary. I think it’s about addiction, because of lyrics like “it’s coursing through my veins “ “chemical daze” “when did I become so cold” etc. I think the original is the unapologetic, party animal rockstar, having fun. But in denial.. “I’m not an addict”/“I’m not a vampire “. He’s not thinking about what impact his addictions/lifestyle have on his life and on others. The revamped to me is a more mature look back at his addiction and how he didn’t think he was a monster but in reality he was and Saraya (his irl girlfriend) represents how much he hurt those around him. When she walks in on him, he runs away ashamed. She kills herself in sadness over the monster she discovered he is. But then he turns her (her purity) into the very thing he is ashamed of about himself. BUT... I think it’s also a love story and I think it’s to pay homage to Derek Jones (dedication to him at the end of the video) and Derek’s fiancé who both died last year (she from cancer, Derek shortly after from suicide). Derek was Ronnie’s longtime friend and the guitarist for Falling In Reverse, it was Derek in the original video playing lead guitar. Derek is the friend who picked him up on the day he was released from prison and was the only other original band member to FIR. Anyway, that’s just my take on it. I’m so sorry about writing you a book Some little tidbits I’ve learned: the guitar notes are the exact same from the original but played on piano and the lyrics are all of the same exact for 1 added line. Also the house in the revamped version is Ronnie’s house irl.
I’d like to request that you check out one of my favorites metal bands, besides FIR, called BAD OMENS. Noah the front man can sing angelic to death screams and he is perfection. One of their songs hit mainstream a few months back and was number 1. Their whole new album is amazing. I’d check out first, “The Death Of Piece Of Mind”, then go from there. You might want to kick yourself for not finding them sooner. 😂Thank you.

I think it's worthwhile to remember that Ronnie wrote a lot of his songs in prison, including this one, and also where he began putting together Falling In Reverse. That's how he managed to hit the ground running when he got out of prison. I guess it took time for him to get his vision done the way he wanted, probably couldn't afford it when he got out of prison. I think he's a savant, he is self-taught on piano at 9 y.o. His mom was a drug addict that wasn't there for years at a time. His dad was also a drug addicted biker, but did most of the parenting and has since become a born again Christian. So I don't think Ronnie had piano/guitar/drumming lessons when they were so poor. Genius or Savant?
