I run all purchases through my Capital One card. I subtract the items in my checkbook as I buy them so I know I haven't overspent from the money I have and then every Friday, I go into the account and pay the balance so it goes to zero. I have never paid a dime of interest on that card but every year my husband and I use the points to take our annual vacation. It is a total win/win, I don't have to carry cash for purchases, my credit rating is the highest you can get and we get a free vacation every year!
Vicki we are sisters!🎉. I have two credit cards and a debit card. I pay EVERYTHING on one card, 2% cash back. Gas on the other one , it has 5% back on gas only. Neither of them have an annual fee. I use my rewards for birthday and Christmas gifts. I haven’t paid for a gift or any interest since 2018 🎉🎉. It’s not hard to do, just be responsible with your cards and pay them off each month.
Simplify. Always watch the whole video :-). Step 1 I automate bills. I automate most bills, but since gas and electronic fluctuate so much, I don't automate these two. Being the nerd I am, pretend I'm on a budget and on months my utility bills are down, I put the overage in savings, then I have the $$$ to pay high winter months. This month I decided to try using 1 credit card - which I never do - for all purchases. See how many points I earn. Step 10 love it! Hugs to you Kate and Kaden.
Donna- my energy utility provider does this for me. I selected "budget billing" and they bill me the same amount every month and keep track of the difference, then adjust if needed up to twice per year. And since the amount is constant and I can always see the bill that shows what I actually used and my budget bill balance, I was comfortable putting it on Autopay.
Thank you for taking the final minutes to talk to us about the loss of Buns. We will never forget him, and it was so beautiful to see him being such an intimate part of your family and your work on TH-cam. He was in it all paws! There is a book I heard of called Die Empty, and although I ve not read it, its premise is one we should all live by; Don t leave anything undone. Go all in. Attach yourself all paws, to life, and give it your all. Buns did that, with heart and soul.
Oh I'm so sorry to hear about Buns... 😔 I really loved seeing his sweet little face in your videos. I know how painful it can be to lose a beloved cat and I'm thinking of you and Kaden. Sending you both lots of love. Thank you so much for giving so much love to Buns and giving him such a beautiful life. ❤️
"Simplify" #9 spoke to me, and I have started looking through line items and decided to put some on hold. I did not take them off my spreadsheet but gave them noticed they would not be used until January 2023. Several years ago, I refused to buy any clothes {except undergarments because they are the support in any dressing decision} for a whole year. At the end of the year, I found I lost the desire to go shopping. It was not until I made the decision to stop clothes shopping that I realize shopping frequently had become a really bad habit. Now I only shop when there is a real need---and to shop quality and not quantity. Thanks for sharing.
"gave them notice they would not be used until Jan 2023" - I'm borrowing that one! I love the idea of just giving some categories a rest -whew! I feel better already.
My game changer was to prioritize my savings. On the first of every month I save and invest for future Daniela. "To pay yourself first", was the best advice I ever got in my life. To plan our meals and only buy what we need (and only food shop once a week) is important, too. So my husband and I (two incomes, no kids) are able to save and invest over 50% of our income. Lucky me. We aren't home owners and love spending money for vacations. Next March we will go to a Bruce Springsteen concert in Boston. Sooo excited! We are only able to spend this fun money, because we simplyfied our money.
I simplify by automating my bills. It's made my lift easier. I'm going to miss buns sweet face. Remember you gave him the best kitty life and he will always be in your heart.
I used to have subscriptions but cancelled them all. Only two credit cards each with an interest rate below 6%, but always pay them off each month. Have them mainly for large purchases like car repairs or new appliances when needed. Just cleaned out a bunch of old papers left behind by my parents, geesh my mom saved everything. Kate you have to take care of you & Kaden we all grieve differently.
Excellent video Kate! Number ten - love how you talked about that. The time I spend sometimes browsing a website, adding items to the cart, thinking about each item and then usually buying some of it (usually clothes!) is just ridiculous! I can improve! Bless you for talking about the loss of Buns, I understand. I have four cats and love them all dearly. One of them, Jerry, is the cat of a lifetime and to think of losing him in particular is devastating to me. I have cried for dear Buns but am so thankful he had such a good life with you and Kaden.
THANK YOU SO SO MUCH. JERRY! I hope he lives a LONG LONG LIFE!!!! The cat of a lifetime...YESSSSSS. Cherish all the love. It's priceless and irreplaceable:)

You nailed it with all of them. #10 especially. Our finiancial struggle is/was the grocery store. Both of us comming from backgrounds as kids where food wasn’t plentiful. To remedy this monthly meal planning and shopping by the week has saved us a ton of money and less waste of food. Learning to build menus around what we have or need to use up and then build the rest from there.

My life out in the world feels complicated, so I really simplifie my personal space and belongings. Thx Kate and congratulations kaden on your new updated platform! 💕🌻💐🌼💐🌻💕
I am part check writer and part automatic payment!! And I am getting better at tracking EVERYTHING I spend! Have yet to go paperless, but I’m old school and like to have the tangible item to put in my files. I then shred it all at the end of the year.
If you like electronic record keeping you can keep an excel spreadsheet with passwords or bookmark your websites and in the name type in your passwords. If you like paper record keeping write your passwords in an inexpensive address book (last I checked walmart was the cheapest) and log them based on website name username and password 😀 I've found this helpful in life and work
So sorry to hear about the loss of your kitty. You asked about the most significant thing I’ve done financially, it is definitely putting everything on auto pay. In the past I dreaded opening the mail, then adding up the bills, writing the checks, then there were envelopes and stamps and the trip to the mailbox….. each step was like climbing a mountain carrying an elephant on your back! I raised a family as a single mom with a limited income. Today every thing but one is on auto pay. The one thing that is not, is my MasterCard. I do not use my debit card or cash, just that card. I want to be able to see every transaction, then pay it by phone . I pay it in full each month, so there is no interest…. And I do get points! I keep a low limit on the card, even though I get frequent offers to raise it. I know I can if there was a true emergency, but I still keep it low, with the thought that if it were lost or stolen, it would not be worth much. I do have a second card, that I do not carry with me, I needed it once for a large expense and paid it off when reimbursed by my insurance company. I was glad I had it. I keep it active by only paying one thing, a month, my cat food and litter from Amazon, because they deliver it right to my door, and I don’t have to carry it myself! Win, win!
Hi kate i love watching ur videos but today it felt like u are talking about me..... i literally do every single thing u mentioned in this video, i am trying to make my life simple to enjoy n relax more 🥰
When you speak of whittling down debt, it makes me think of my current situation. I paid off my credit card balance for the last time in 2019 and now just use it for convenience and pay it off before it's even due. However this month I had a $1,853 car bill which I had to put on my card and pay off in chunks. It took over a week for the final chunk to register and by that time almost $2 in interest had accumulated. To put this in perspective, i used to pay $500 per month that was all interest. Well, i can't tell you how much this $2 bugged me since I'd given Visa tens upon tens of thousands of dollars over the years and i'd been determined they were never going to get one more cent out of me. I'm really happy my attitude has changed that much. Oh and on a different important topic, Kate, I just wanted to let you know that today I'm calling the vet because the time has come for my cat to go and join Buns. I know, not much to be said....
Subtract to add 🙌 Simplify 🙌 Frugal Friday 🙌 Bonus doing direct debit on electric was a discount for paperless billing. Doing ok Kate under the circumstances is good to hear. 🌊 Going through the waves of grief may the tears bring you release and Buns is best give you comfort 💞 Mr Hanum 😻 Good luck with your gaming channel Kaden 🍀
OMG Kate ....so sorry to hear about buns. I didn't watch this video but the recent one you did with covid and u mentioned buns and I couldn't believe it. I went back and watched this one to see what happened and I just want to say I adored that cat too. My cat used to stare at the screen every time buns came on. I thought that was so funny. I remember when I lost my cockatiel, I cried for 4 days straight. I still miss him so I know exactly how you feel. Hugssss to you both.
So happy to see you today. I love your videos. I know how much Buns meant to you and Kaden. I have lost pets. It is so difficult. Thank you for sharing Buns with us He Is truly missed.
Ah I feel sad watching your last bit,, it will get easier but this right now feels raw to state the blooming obvious. You are very welcome as most people know what its like. Thanks for your continued wisdom Kate. X
💕💕💕😻💕💕💕 Love you, Kate!! Buns was one of a kind and thanks to you he's been loved by so many of us in the K-Squad! I look forward to getting to know handsome, Mr. Hanem, more, too. 😻🥰
Game changers were electronic everything. It reduced my paper overload massively. Also The Minimal Mom’s “Time Will Tell” box where you put papers you “might” need like a seed catalog. God forbid I need a seed catalog, her example not mine. You clear it from the bottom. The other thing is I have a bin for “current year” receipts, EOBs etc. I just toss stuff in there and go through it one time at the end of the year for tax purposes and any filing (very little). I’m so sorry about Buns. It’s tough. 🥰
So sorry for the loss of Buns. Automate some of my bills will certainly help. Also, not spending unless I need something Thank you for your courage this week when the grief is fresh.
I'm all for number 10. I recently got the floors done throughout the main level of the house. I think I may have mentioned that. But anyway, I had to pack everything up out of the bedrooms and closets and put it all in the basement. I still haven't put everything back upstairs. I went through a few things as I was packing things up and got rid of a bunch of stuff. But I started running out of time before the flooring was going to get done so I had to just dump everything into boxes. Now that everything is done, I don't really want to clutter things back up. So, when I've even thought about going out to stores or yard sales or anything lately I just think I don't want to bring more into the house. Just need to get rid of stuff. Been thinking about you all week. Trooper is my black and white kitty in the profile picture. I mentioned to you about the older kitties, Max and Simba who passed at ages 18 and 15. People sent so many messages and so many comments on their Facebook page. I just couldn't read it all. We all grave differently and just need to take your time and go easy on yourself.
Bless you darling. My cat Molly is 18yrs and boy oh Boy I will miss her when she passes. I believe our pets have a place in heaven Sometimes when I'm sad and lonely I think I see my past pets by my side as angelic beings. I too cried when my pets died. Just like a baby. Yipes. All the best for your sons online game thinggy. Blessings from Adelaide Australia 🇦🇺 🙏
Amazing video as always- thank you! 👏 And I especially had to comment and say that I love your hair! 😍 I have nothing against people’s decision to color their hair, but for me, the cons outnumber the pros by a landslide! Also, the uniqueness of natural hair color is something a salon is incapable of perfectly replicating, so I think it’s great to enjoy its uniqueness while you can! Plus, your natural hair color will always be the best suited color to compliment your eye color and complexion (even when it loses pigment and “goes grey”!). 😊 P.S.- I haven’t had a chance to comment yet and express my sincere condolences to you and your family over the loss of Buns. Your sweetheart will truly be missed by all of us, and I’m sending lots of love and healing your way. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi Kate. We are all with you. Just take each day as it comes. Buns will always be with you. Take care of yourself Kate and hugs to Kaden. Hope you both have a nice weekend 😘😘❤️❤️
Happy Frugal Friday Kate and the Squad! Loved #10. I finally, after 60 years, have the hang of not spending. Bless uou for sharing about your loss of Buns. My Harriet's been gone for 2yrs. The missing is still here, but the pain is less. Be patient with yourself. He knew he was loved.❤️❤️❤️
So happy to see you this Friday! Very inspiring video! automatic payments, going less ofthen to a store, set a lower maximum to spent, stop subscriptions, make choises really helped to make my finances and life overall way more easier ... less is more freedom, more joy and more time!!! Take care🙌
Simply 10 I always shop my freezer and pantry really cuts down on my grocery budget also fetch rewards and Ibotta are good apps to help go towards your food budget .Hang in there Kate so hard to lose our furry family members 🙏❤️🙏
Thanks Kate ! Great ideas 💡 I really like your hair darker - I am thinking of doing the same for fall ☺️ sending well wishes to you and the family and I hope things are getting a little easier for you with the loss of Buns - take care Kate ❤️
I am so sorry about Buttons he was a gorgeous cat and you are a fabulous woman and they really become part of the family and why I haven't had a pet since my cat Toby as I find it hard when they go and is such a loss.
I like it you have a smile on your face most of the time and seem to be content. I know what you're feeling good about though because I'm feeling the same way when I'm saving and making money. Money is power, and personal power is a good thing
#9 & #10 are both a tie for me. I tweak my budget every month depending on fixed irregular expenses (car registration/insurance, property taxes) since I don't set aside for them throughout the year. It just works better for me this way and I feel in control of every penny. #10 is so obvious but I still need to be reminded of this to keep from backsliding.
Simplify! You can also set-up auto pay for your utilities, insurance, etc. that you would pay every month anyway to a credit card and rack up even more points. Happy frugal Friday K Squad!
Do you get rid of your notebooks when they are full? Great video, as ALWAYS! Thank you for taking a moment to talk about Buns - I am so sorry for your loss. Continued prayers for you and Kaden.
🙌🏼 Simplify 🙌🏼 I get so excited when I get notifications from your channel lol I’m officially 15 weeks pregnant today!! Im now in the process clearing out excess stuff and working out essentials for Bub and buying as much second hand as I can. Also working out ways to cut expenses when we go to one income while I’m on maternity leave. Im so sorry to hear about Buns! We are truely blessed and privileged to have animals in our lives and the really unique ones will never leave your heart. Losing my first ever dog was the most pain I’ve ever felt and still think about her everyday but grateful for the time I had with her xx
Happy frugal Friday, Kate and K squad! I love this last two tips that you gave, debrief and spend less! Yesterday I went bulk shopping because I had the extra money for essential products I need at home at Sam’s Club, but because I will be months ahead on things I need due to inflation, Which I took a tip that you mentioned on previous videos about stocking up on things we need for inflation, I did that with toilet paper, bars of soap and shampoo and conditioner at Sam’s Club yesterday! Now, this coming week I need to spend less, and for the next few months I have to debrief some of my spending because of stuff I bought yesterday! And sorry for your loss of Buns, I lost my cat a few months ago, Cheese, so I can relate to your loss! He will be missed on your videos! My prayers go out to you and Kayden and mourning the loss of Buns, a beloved family of the K squad!
Oh Martha, so you know. It's the WORST! UGH. I'm so sorry for your loss. Hope time has helped a little. Everyday is getting a teensy better, but man it hurt so bad.
Getting through saying his name is hard. Well done on that. I wonder if Mr hanum will become more outgoing as he gets used to being an only cat. You be proud of yourself for doing this well. Impressive that you got a video made and uploaded this week. X
Simplify!! I closed my Kohl’s and Home Depot’s cc. I have two, one which is locked for backup. The other credit card I use for almost everything but pay off every week, so I NEVER pay interest $$. If I can’t pay it that week, then I don’t buy it.
Omg Kate I am so so sorry it really sucks 😢 sending love and hugs he was the K Squad mascot he will be missed by all of us
Simplify!! My life was changed because of you. Sorry for the loss of your cat. As part of your family this can be hard but remember the good memories

If you like paper record keeping write your passwords in an inexpensive address book (last I checked walmart was the cheapest) and log them based on website name username and password 😀 I've found this helpful in life and work
I haven’t watched you in awhile but I am back!! :). I love all your videos and I am sorry to hear about Buns. Thanks fir sharing all this info.
Jenny I'm so happy to see you! Thank you so much. Welcome back!!!!
Win, win!
Hi kate i love watching ur videos but today it felt like u are talking about me..... i literally do every single thing u mentioned in this video, i am trying to make my life simple to enjoy n relax more 🥰
OOOH!!!! I WAS talking about you! And I'm so proud of you! WAY TO GO!!!!!
I’m sorry about your cat xx as a cat mummy myself I know how the loss of a fur baby hurts x
Simplify! And now downsizing my living space! ⚠ when shopping- need to stick to the list! ♥♥
YASSS MARY JO! Thank you! Good ones!
SIMPLIFY - love it! Another wonderful video, & again, I’m so sorry for your loss of Buns. That sweet angel will see you again. ♥️♥️♥️
Nicole, you rock. THANK YOU!
Thank you so so much Sandra! You help keep me goin!
Thank you for sharing Buns with us
He Is truly missed.

Ah I feel sad watching your last bit,, it will get easier but this right now feels raw to state the blooming obvious. You are very welcome as most people know what its like. Thanks for your continued wisdom Kate. X
Simplify. A theme for every year!! 😊. Thank you.
💕💕💕😻💕💕💕 Love you, Kate!! Buns was one of a kind and thanks to you he's been loved by so many of us in the K-Squad! I look forward to getting to know handsome, Mr. Hanem, more, too. 😻🥰
You got it!!!! He's been getting used to the new normal. He's been VERY affectionate! I call him my big gorgeous teddy bear Hanum:) :)
Big, gorgeous, teddy bear, Hanum!! Showing us all how to live!
It’s tough. 🥰
Glenda, thank you so much!!!!!
Glenda W, "Time Will Tell" box has been a life saver for me, too.
So sorry for the loss of Buns.
Automate some of my bills will certainly help. Also, not spending unless I need something Thank you for your courage this week when the grief is fresh.
Buns! He was the best.
I'm so sorry for your lost, You are in my prayers enjoyed the video.
Max and Simba:) Sweet babies. I bet they lived their BEST lives with you! I really appreciate you. Thank you for watching and sharing:) :) :)
Maria, this is beautiful and comforting. Thank you so much:)
Amazing video as always- thank you! 👏
And I especially had to comment and say that I love your hair! 😊
P.S.- I haven’t had a chance to comment yet and express my sincere condolences to you and your family over the loss of Buns. Your sweetheart will truly be missed by all of us, and I’m sending lots of love and healing your way. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’m so sorry…… sending lots of love and hugs. ❤️
Thank you Kate Thank you for all you do Love you !!
Bonnie, thank you:) :) (and you are very welcome!)

Very inspiring video! automatic payments, going less ofthen to a store, set a lower maximum to spent, stop subscriptions, make choises really helped to make my finances and life overall way more easier ... less is more freedom, more joy and more time!!!
Take care🙌
YASSS! Thank you so so much:) :)

I am so sorry about Buttons he was a gorgeous cat and you are a fabulous woman and they really become part of the family and why I haven't had a pet since my cat Toby as I find it hard when they go and is such a loss.
Thanks Carrie. Oh no, Toby! Yes it's the hardest. Miss Buns everyday.
10:04 "to get that paper under wraps" Good pun!
😂😂❤️
I had no idea until today😔…..sending love from my family to yours. Love you and thank you so much for what you teach us. K-Squad=keep it up, keep $$
Thank you so so much:)
I like it you have a smile on your face most of the time and seem to be content. I know what you're feeling good about though because I'm feeling the same way when I'm saving and making money. Money is power, and personal power is a good thing
Simplify my life 😃
!!!!!!Simplify!!!!!🤗
Thank you for watching Gabriel!
YASSS! Love this!
With you on on minimizing your credit cards!!
So sorry for your loss 😞 Enjoyed your video, today 😊 Have a good weekend!
Michele, thank you so much:)
I weep for You and Kaden Love 💘 ❤ 💕 ♥ 💖 💗 Hannum
Simplify! You can also set-up auto pay for your utilities, insurance, etc. that you would pay every month anyway to a credit card and rack up even more points. Happy frugal Friday K Squad!
YASSSS! Absolutely Rita!
Wow this has been game changing 😯👍😊 we have been slowly over the years. Thanks for sharing 🤗
YASSSSS!!! Thanks Pam!!!

Do you get rid of your notebooks when they are full? Great video, as ALWAYS! Thank you for taking a moment to talk about Buns - I am so sorry for your loss. Continued prayers for you and Kaden.
Thank you so much JV. I keep the notebooks for a little while! Then get rid of when no longer need.
Big hugs!!! ❤️❤️❤️ thank YOU for being a huge inspiration in my debt free frugal minimalist journey!!

I get so excited when I get notifications from your channel lol
I’m officially 15 weeks pregnant today!!
15 weeks pregnant!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!
And thank you so so much:)
Hello Kate! I'm sorry for your lost. I'll miss to see Buns in the videos. Eventhough our dear Buns lives in our ❤️ Have a good frugal Friday everyone!
Thank you so much Mar C!!!!
Thank you so so so much:)
My heart hurts for you. I said goodbye to my boy in the Spring. I've said prayers for you. Hugs and prayers
Oh Martha, so you know. It's the WORST! UGH. I'm so sorry for your loss. Hope time has helped a little. Everyday is getting a teensy better, but man it hurt so bad.
Sorry for your loss, he was the best!
Wendy, thank you so much. He really was the sweetest:)
Getting through saying his name is hard. Well done on that. I wonder if Mr hanum will become more outgoing as he gets used to being an only cat. You be proud of yourself for doing this well. Impressive that you got a video made and uploaded this week. X
Thank you so much Willow!!!
@@KateKaden no problemo.
Nice video Kate. I thought a live would be hard without Buns, so didn’t expect there to be one this week
.
simplify ❤
Simplify!! I closed my Kohl’s and Home Depot’s cc. I have two, one which is locked for backup. The other credit card I use for almost everything but pay off every week, so I NEVER pay interest $$. If I can’t pay it that week, then I don’t buy it.
Simplify! So sorry about Buns. Our pets are part of the family and you have wonderful memories and videos here on your channel. ❤
😇💜🙏 RIP Buns, fur baby extraordinaire.
Thank you so much Corrine:)
