Unbelievable that this movie masterpiece was wrapped up in 3 weeks. A testament to the hard work of everyone involved. Brilliant performances by both Crawford and Davis.. but also the supporting actors who cemented the movie with such strong performances. It has stood the test of time as a classic one-off.

Coke Guts Pretty much every scene in this movie makes me lose it! One of my top 10 movies of all time. You lost the DVD? It's one of my most treasured possessions.
It's easy to applaud Davis and overlook Crawford when Davis had the 'meatier' role. I think Joan Crawford did a fine job playing the straight character opposite Davis' insanity.
The irony is that Blanche is going through the same torture that Christina Crawford was going through in real life!!! The victim in the movie was actually the perpetrator in real life... When I first saw this I had sympathy for Blanche and hated Jane but, once I seen the whole movie I realized how Blanche was the real monster and broke her own spine accidentally when she meant to run Jane down since she hated and made fun of Blanche, poor Jane slaved away hand in foot and wasted her life when she should have gotten married and had children.

True story; This is how two of my oldest selfish, petty, and greedy evil old sisters Mary and Amalia Gomez are going to end up just like these two crackpot basket cases in this film. In fact they're experiencing it rightt now in the early and middle stages.
It's one of my favourite black and white movies, along with Con faldas y a lo loco (Some like it hot). They are two celluloid "monsters" here in Spain when someone is a monster it´s because he or she is a supernatural being), although I'm more of a Bette Davies fan, I think it's great, she lived for many years, with her unique voice, hoarse from tobacco smoke. One of his last appearances was on a trip he made here to Spain. There was no one like her, she survived Hollywood, a place that can destroy you if you are not a powerful being, and she was. One thing I've noticed...Blanche always refers to the phone as the "telephone". Jane refers to it as the "phone".
I would have never served Blanche a parakeet on a bed of sliced tomatoes. It would have been on a bed of spinach with pines nuts. They just don't make movies like this anymore.

Bette definitely should of won the Oscar for this performance but as always politics comes into play and has since day one.
It's one of my favourite black and white movies, along with Con faldas y a lo loco (Some like it hot). They are two celluloid "monsters" here in Spain when someone is a monster it´s because he or she is a supernatural being), although I'm more of a Bette Davies fan, I think it's great, she lived for many years, with her unique voice, hoarse from tobacco smoke. One of his last appearances was on a trip he made here to Spain. There was no one like her, she survived Hollywood, a place that can destroy you if you are not a powerful being, and she was. Antonio Cruz, Spain.

😄 wondered abt tht too. Joan Crawford was always a woman of style and grace performing. Bette Davis was more of a villain in her movie,, to think of it Joan was actually older than Bette in real life. Gr8 performance by both legends.
Renember The Blance character said at the end of the movie "you wernt always ugly i made you that way" By making baby Jane believe it was her fault thay she was crippled

peccato.. Dopo averlo visto in ne lingua non conoscendo l'inglese. Mi sarebbe piaciuto in francese che un po' mastico. . Comunque un bellissimo film con grandi interpretazioni belle musiche e finale a sorpresa.
