I should mention some corrections, both Devil Dice and Mad Maestro have sequels however all but one have never left Japan. Devil Dice's PS2 sequel, Bombastic, we got, however that series got an expansion on PS1 (XI Jumbo), a port on Wonderswan (XI Little), and another sequel on PSP (XI Colosseum). And as for Mad Maestro, it got 2 expansions and a proper sequel in 2002 which all thankfully have English voice acting so you can at least understand the story. Also, the mobile version of Arc the Lad mentioned is not a remake, its a sequel intended to take place after Arc 2 in an alternate timeline
Finally Rogue Galaxy gets the recognition it damn well deserves. A truly underappreciated gem that could've launched an entire series. Here is to hoping for a sequel, or the very least a spiritual successor.
really love how charmingly astro bot shows off the playstation series(that they really need to focus on that variety for ps6.) colorful worlds like you're going through them collecting it's characters on your adventures.(love unlucky salesman, mad maestro, reiko nagase adorably racing, intelligence cube & the most surprising to me was ulala with how i've only seen her connection through space channel 5 vr/sol badguy/deep cut motortoon grand prix.:3)
I was so happy to see Rogue Galaxy get referenced in this game. I was one of the lucky few to play it on the PS2; my cousin gave me his old console (along with a few of his games), but I found a copy of Rogue Galaxy at a video rental store. When the store announced their closure, they sold off their rentals, which of course I bought Rogue Galaxy.
Thats exactly how my roommate got it. Clearance bin at Hollywood video when they closed down. He played that game to full completion. I don’t remember much about it other than a truly overdeveloped crafting system
The (very definitely) Final Concert in Mad Maestro! involves getting through the entire soundtrack, with no feedback during the song, and if you fail any song, it's Game Over. It takes about an hour and a half, for just the music, but if you want to take a break, it does pause between songs. One of the few gaming memories I have with my Dad--and by "few," I'm talking, probably in the single digits--was going all the way through the Final Concert on Mad Maestro! I REALLY hope they're bringing this back. Orchestral music is underrepresented in the rhythm genre, by a mile.
I do love how this helped expose me to so many obscure video games and their soundtracks. Currently listening through Arc The Lad: TOTS and it's SUCH A MASTERPIECE of a soundtrack.
Devil dice (Xi in Japan) is one of my favs all time. Still have it. There’s a sequel called Bombastic for ps2 (XI GO in Japan) that’s just as good. Same playstyle and all! Also wow, incredible crisis too. Absolutely loved that game so much.
I lost my mind when I saw Ash, concrete genie is still one of my favorite PS games, glad asobi was willing to give them the time of day, and if they add more, I know a lot of people want square Enix rep, but I'd love to see more weird options like lost in random, no straight roads, biomutant, psychonauts or even borderlands
You know with all these familiar characters and the mention of Playstation all stars battle royale, Sony could dip their toes back in the platform fighting game genre in an era where a lot of companies want to be the next Smash. Mayhaps green lighting a new All stars game for current Gen consoles? Maybe ask Team Asobi to work on it?
i remember playing and beating rogue galaxy back in the day. but i was an RPG addict, still am. but at that point i had literally every single jrpg released in america for ps1 and ps2. and at the time i was a huge fan of dark cloud 1 and 2 and dragon quest 8 which were made by level 5. who made rogue galaxy. i remember really wanting to collect all the 7 star swords and i think i got all of them except 1.
I remember that Japanese cooking game from some Playstation Undergound demo disc! We thought it was wild, and always wondered why we never saw it on the shelves at Toys R Us. We couldn't get enough!
Here after Sony shut down Concord. They probably could have rebooted at least half of these franchises for the amount they burned on that dumpster fire.
17:05 "Why would they get a new game for their soon to be ancient hardware" Geez I don't know maybe because Grand Theft Auto V also launched in September of 2013 on the 17th. That's why nobody cared about Puppeteer & not because the PS4 was 2 months away from release.
Tokyo Jungle, motor toon grand prix I have never seen. Some of the JP only games I have seen from old youtubers that would challenge people to odd games from Japan. Boku No Natsuyasumi was new to me but a youtube talked about it when Natsu-mon was getting made.
For me the dancing dog with a stocking cap from some old PlayStation rythm game is the most obscure character that I've seen many times, but don't reconize it because didin't played it's game rythm games aren't for me. But every Astro Bot characters are unique! 😊❤
Just play parappa the rapper 2. 1 and um jammer lammy on ps1 are super hard but you can buy parappa the rapper 2 on ps5 and play it and ive played it now like 12 times
@@Leopez02 its 10$ or on ps premium. I prefer the songs from parappa the rapper 1 but like i said. Something is wrong with the game. I thought the remaster had input lag and bought the ps1 version but nope. I press the right buttons and it does not work. Parappa 2 improves on everything and sadly it was the last game
There are a lot of characters in this game but one series that is surprisingly not in this game is Final Fantasy, not even Cloud and Sephiroth are in this game as a good but generic pick. This shows that Square Enix really meant it when they said they were going full cross platform. It would be cool if we get some big games for Switch 2
Aibo.... at least.... something AC (Armored Core) Adjacent exists in Astro Bot.... no not Trigger well technically the Shinden 2 is also a Kawamori Design so is a prototype of AIBO
I'm just going to be honest astrobot it has the best robot game hands down black myth wukong maybe the first monkey game out with astrobot is right behind it
What's the most obscure character you recognized in Astro Bot?

I was obsessed with Rogue Galaxy as a child as something I picked up on a whim from a GameStop. It'll always hold a special place in my heart 🙏

I was personally delighted by the celestial brush god-wolf, Amaterasu from Okami. Very cool.

Some more deep cuts like Musashi are hopefully on the way soon as we get the dlc
I am one of the few who loved Rogue Galaxy
I had a copy of Rogue Galaxy on PS2. I knew this cameo instantly!
Tokyo jungle has the robot pups as playable dlc with one being unlocked base

4:10 that's diabolical. Why don't Sony plan their announcements better?!

I love Astro
Sony: we are adding tons of old PlayStation ips to astrobot.
Also Sony: we don’t have a lot of ips so we will just remaster some games instead
I owned and played Concrete Genie day one. It is a favorite of mine. 😢
Studio got closed
I remember that Japanese cooking game from some Playstation Undergound demo disc! We thought it was wild, and always wondered why we never saw it on the shelves at Toys R Us. We couldn't get enough!
I remember the rogue Galaxy character fun fact: that game was supposed to be dark cloud 3!
Concrete Genie was free on PS plus. And Beyond Two Souls? Really?
16:53 GTA 5 also came out September 2013 lol
If only this let these games make a come back.
Here after Sony shut down Concord. They probably could have rebooted at least half of these franchises for the amount they burned on that dumpster fire.
Yes! Good to see Alundra being on the list. I was so happy when I got that bot, because I love that game.
Every gamer should know ridge racer

For some reason Ulala seemed like one of the most random to pop up
I actually have the English dub of Mad Maestro game that I got years ago!
I love musical games, but that was hard to play at times!
All these deep cuts, but there’s still no reference to the PS3 Wonderbook!
Tokyo Jungle, motor toon grand prix I have never seen. Some of the JP only games I have seen from old youtubers that would challenge people to odd games from Japan. Boku No Natsuyasumi was new to me but a youtube talked about it when Natsu-mon was getting made.
I wish there was bot of Yuri from Shadow Hearts. That would have made my life a little happier.

You mean parapa the rapper? Everyone who owned a ps1 knows that guy
Just play parappa the rapper 2. 1 and um jammer lammy on ps1 are super hard but you can buy parappa the rapper 2 on ps5 and play it and ive played it now like 12 times
@@Blastermaster113 okay I would try prappar tge rapper 2 on PS5!

Puppeteer also dropped around the time GTA V hit 7th gen
I loved this game it’s so cute 🥰
I was hoping for a Spider-Bot… since the relationship with Sony and Spider-Man is so prevalent 💯🙏🏼
Sad no Twisted Metal Reference
There will be. Trust me. It got a hbo show and is a ps icon
20:33 this one broke me. I thought its from the ps2 game dogs life
17:16 A question I ask myself every time I look at a snippet of this game
I’m the only person who miss Spiderman in this Game🤔
But I love this game😊
I love concrete genie
Wow!
These would be great ways to revive these games😊
Astro Bot is definitely and totally one of THE Best Cutest Mascots there is, and also THE Best Epic Brand Newest Video Game of 2024 this year! 😄😁👍👌
My biggest surprise was definitly that raiden from metal gear rising and oddworld were in the game since they are not exclusives
Syphon filter, twisted metal, jet moto? Franchises that OG fans know about
I was suprised they put Tir McDohl from Suikoden 1 but not Riou from Suikoden 2, since 2 was more liked.
Who else thought Alondra was Link lol
21:57 i’d probably be guilty gears sol badguy Loco Roko, and fall guys
I was hoping they'd have my boy Shinbu, what never heard of him? Thats exactly why I thought they'd put him in 😅
I still can't believe intelligent cube got a bot

Hot shots golf mentioned. Ahhh!!
I’m praying for hot shots golf FORE! To be added to ps plus.
I noticed Jumping Flash.
19:17 I played this game on my PS3 yesterday and it was really boring but looks cool.
It's weird that they never include any Final Fantasy characters. If you ask me Cloud Strife should be there
I'm surprised ragna was not a bot
Who? 😏
@@HazeEmry ragna the bloodedge from blazblue
@@agsdragon5475... I know. Clearly you only know the name and not the lore. Did you not see the emoji I put in after?

I only recognised the pup pal plus one because they did McDonald’s toys of it in the UK
My favorite bot in the game is Sly Cooper
Wait until sly 2 releases on ps5. Just played sly 4 and bro i cant understand the bad reviews. Great game
My favorite bot is resident evil and silent hill
no DragonSeeds or Racing Lagoon cameos? literally unplayable
Siren needs a remake for ps5. I hope so.
Rogue Galaxy is one of the Best games of all time
Concrete genie was a great game too so that’s a shame
Ape Escape. Literaly thought that Sony had ABANDONED that series
Probably don't need to show the title of the game that the video is based on everytime its on screen.
I'm just going to be honest astrobot it has the best robot game hands down black myth wukong maybe the first monkey game out with astrobot is right behind it
Ahem. Reiko Nagase is Kei Nagase’s sister from Ace Combat.
Why Twisted Metal wasnt in this game is beyond me
Ok cool but where tf is Spiderman,Miles, Sweet Tooth, Max Payne and the GTA protagonists?
This list is about obscure characters. Those guys are all well known :)
rogue galaxy stan
teddy fron persona 4
Thanks for the thumbnail spoiler. The hell is wrong with people that they feel the need to spoil shit in thumbnails.
Knack
Live service is trash
Played beyond two souls after astrobot and this game is trash. Its just bad written
I'm just happy Klonoa got recognition 🥹
Same here. The poor boy deserves so much better irl and in game
At least we got the remastered of 1 and 2 as well. I Hope more games Will be Better in the future.
