    Superb amp, really well thought out features. Plus it's sounds lovely!
    For me the Les Paul into the high gain without pedals is just killer !

    Thanks for sharing! I play strats and humbucker-equipped guitars, and recently acquired a Gibson Les Paul. I have this amp coming in late November. Super stoked this amp is sounding amazing with all those guitars, can’t wait for mine to get in my life!

    The F50 is a great and versatile amp, not too big, not too small. Lovely reverb. Clean can be glassy or jazzy. Drive or Hi gain sounds best with humbuckers or a Tele bridge; if you want to play a Strat, you might want to use a drive pedal to push it some more.

    • @ABOGJoel
      @ABOGJoel 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just found that out re: the Strat. Fits my Les Paul and Tele better in the two drive modes. Any pedal recommendations for the Strat in those channels?

    Boogies are incredibly solid amps. They always get great sounds. Nice to see them putting out a more traditionally voiced amp. Obviously, they are kings of high gain, but the basic clean tones are rich and usable. Glad more manufacturers are including the “in-between” setting. With the pedals you could probably get away with one channel? Be great if they made a cheaper one channel version.

    I’m pretty obsessive about having enough treble and clarity, but that sounds pretty harsh and sizzley even for my taste. Especially with the Strat, I would have tried the treble and presence down to around noon and the bass up a bit, maybe.

    Mesa California tweed or Fillmore 50 combo. One choice interested in comments

    • @blakemansfield2356
      @blakemansfield2356 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cali Tweed sounds best set up clean or VERY LIGHT breakup. It is excellent for that but if you want to gain it up, pedals are your best bet. Gets a little weird and flubby with too much gain. If you like gain from the amp- I'd prob look at fillmore or TC50

    Great video. This is the first Fillmore vid where I've actually thought it sounds pretty good. Don't know what it is, but in all the other vids, the Fillmore is just missing something to my ears. It could be that I'm expecting it to sound like a Fender, given all the marketing and aesthetics of this amp, but it really doesn't sound very Fendery...or even Boogie-like (Mark series). Sounds good in this video though. I love the topology of the amp, it's just missing a special spark for me.

    • @Goldie_Hawn_Solo
      @Goldie_Hawn_Solo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You probably watched videos of people that have zero idea what they're doing with a Mesa. Incredibly common on TH-cam. These amps aren't plug and play. They need to be dialed in. A large number of younger TH-cam guitarists just want to be first..they dont want to be good. This is not the amp for that kind of thing. Youd be surprised at the number of high profile guitar channels in which the host has no actual idea about what they're talking about regarding amps and everything else for that matter. Literally no clue.

    Great walk through, showing the different voices/gain stages/responsiveness. Although the playing is excellent, the actual stretches of playing are a bit too long (right, Jack?😅✌️) - the video could be more compact otherwise.
    In any way, I have a crush on the Fillmore 50, but I detest Meinl for the European distribution monopoly, with ridiculous price labels in Europe.

  • @PracticalGuitarist
    @PracticalGuitarist 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    I'm making the assumption this is an on-axis SM57. Too much treble, makes the amp sound super thin. Having played through one a few times, I can say that it doesn't sound like this in person.

    • @Art-zs6sl
      @Art-zs6sl 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No doubt this sounds amazing in person, but yes especially with the pedals it may as well of been a plug-in.

      Amazing how 90% of guitar players do not know how to dial in an amp or mic it properly.

    • @Auen73
      @Auen73 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree.....there is a hard tick, knock,......or quack sound I’m hearing. Maybe in a live band setting it would be less noticeable.

    • @gdhi11
      @gdhi11 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mids are probably better to have than treble. Treble gets lost in the cymbal wash.

    • @gdhi11
      @gdhi11 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They tend to dial a lot of the amps on this channel really bright--they don't sound bad or anything, but it's generally not natural to the way it would sound in person.

      @@Slothclawcolseslaw I have a "Posercaster" -- even got a custom headstock sticker that says as much! It's an awesome Squire Strat (got it for free as an afterthought in a trade deal) with the best neck/body I've ever played. Replaced the stock pups with a Lil '59 in the bridge and Carvin 11-pole SCs in the middle/neck, pulled the extra tone (replaced with a kill switch) and moved the volume/tone back a slot (the volume knob always gets in the way of my right hand), added locking tuners, strap locks, and roller saddles. Total upgrade cost was under $300 and I would put it up against any American made Strat built in the past 20 years as far as tone/playability (and what else matters?) are concerned.
