I rented a 1991 Lumina Euro back in early '91 with only 36 miles on it. I drove it from Southern California to Joplin, Mo to a friend's wedding. By the time I returned it it had 3636 miles on it. Hard miles at that. And I'll tell you what...that car performed incredibly well. It was comfortable, fun-to-drive(as much as a domestic sedan of that era could be, anyway - LOL!), got decent gas mileage, and performed god damned impressively as a damn near boat/submarine when I got caught in a flash flood downpour when driving to said friend's reception out in the middle of Bumfuck, Oklahoma. Water damn near came up to the window sills, but that car got us through without a drop coming into the car, or the engine getting flooded(literally). When we visited Grand Canyon, we encountered another flash flood/downpour. But this time we got pelted with hail. Nothing golf ball size, but the car endured it pretty well(WAY better than I thought it would!) Throughout the entire trip, that car never let me down! Not once! So, needless to say, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a clean, well-cared for one today. And there's not too many domestics from that era that I could say that about. Kudos to GM on this one.

I had 3 different Euro's of varying years and I loved them all! Absolutely one of the best cars GM came out with!

My parents had a 91 Euro. Even as a kid, I had the same issues they had with it, including the weird front seat leg room in the passenger seat. The Euro gauge cluster was definitely much better. We used to love the engine sound as kids. We didn't know any better, but it sounded good to us.

I used to have a '94 Lumina 4dr and loved it. It had 250K and still going strong when I sold it in 2004. My boss where I worked in the early 90s had a brand new 1993 Lumina Euro 2dr and a co-worker had a 1993 light blue sedan.

bradmedicus I still see some early W-bodies from time to time in the Chicago area and the engine almost always has a misfire for some reason, lol. Something about those late 80's-mid 90's MPFI V6 engines...

Had a 92 Euro sport. Best friends father bought it for $300.00 to be used on a home made track on the farm. He passed away and it sat for 4 years. Finally his wife signed it over to me because I had some attachments with it. Had to cut a maple tree out of the suspension to get it out. New battery and brake line. Passed inspection 0 rust. Let my girlfriend at the time barrow it. 3 days out of the field she drove it 700 miles round trip out of state! I freaked out about it but one of the best cars I owned!! Sat 6 men and luggage comfortable for a 2 hour trip to hunting camp. Never let me down. I had the fancy gauge pack and still miss the look. Gave it away to another girlfriend with 209000 back in 2007. Rumor has it my mechanic did a inspection this March and had 270000 on it! Sure it was mine since the Vin number called my info up on the computer at the shop. Lol should of kept her!!

Something off about these. I drove my mom's 5 year old Lumina Euro leftover in high school and it was reliable for starting and running, but the brakes would have random bleed/lockup, steering rack went out twice, ate alternators for breakfast, and the strut replacements were a never-ending boat payment to our mechanic.

I had a new '90 Eurosport identical to the one featured in this video. It was good looking, handled well and was a fun car, but it was a repair pain-in-the-ass. The electric windows needed service 5 times, and I had to replace ignition coils twice.

Yes, it is dead low on the doors! Plus, I found the same low beltline on my mother's 2004 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 4000 V6 and it's about the same beltline as the Lumina[as you mentioned].

This one was imported to Europe, but not by far as many were sold as they had hoped for. Most EU car magazines considered this car odd equiped (analoge climate control and power windows as standard, but no child locks nor rev counter available) and poor performing considering its (by EU standards) big engine.
    Looks are nice though.

Had a 94 with the 3.1. It was okay... the rear suspension was poorly designed though, in the three years I owned it. The back spring broke in two, one of the shock mounts went in the rear too.

  • @abelucious

  • @redchris97

not a big fan of these cars, I haven't seen a clean one in a while, the cleanest one I've seen is owned by an old lady that barely drives and when I went to her place to give maintenance to the car, body was perfectly clean sure, but the the dashboard was a little crusty, and little being the generous term, the dash board and the interior was totally beat up, on the plus side motor is pretty ok and this car doesn't have suspension issues like most cars of the 90's and 80's, most cars from that era you have to service their suspension constantly, when I used to work at a shop there was a guy that came 3 years paying 560 something dollars to overhaul the suspension on their Mitsubishi because it was a crappy wish bone system, the lumina apparently uses different suspension or if it uses the same one it was better quality, I talked to the lady and she said they didn't touch the suspension for 5 years and it only takes 2 for rubber components on a car to go bad, other than that im not a very big fan, is just a run of the mill method of transport
