    Sorry about the type in the video intro. The flight # is CY121 and not CY122.

    I'm going to fly with them soon (a 4-hours flight). Thank you for your report, I was stressed because I couldn't find anything about the "new" airline and then, here you are with your video :) I feel better now:)

      Hi! Thank you for watching and the feedback. Cyprus Airways has only a handful of destinations. So I had to go to Cyprus in order to fly them.

    Wow that's Beirut airport? It looks s modern compared to what I expected.

      What are you expecting ?
      Ever when Israel wants to close it down from time to time they tend to blow holes in the runways .
      The terminal is an effective and modern facility dating from the 1990s

    The flight looks quite average. I hope that Cyrus Airways will soon become a big airline in the region because they seem like doing great

      Cyprus airways is the last surviver of cyprus aviation
      The real cyprus airways closed a few years ago (my aunt worked there)
      Then cobalt opened employing everyone from cyprus airways (so my wunt worked there) and they closed
      Helios closed after a crash in the 2000s
      Only cyprus airways survived

    Awesome! It’s such amazing news that they have returned, I remember flying on their A320’s from London to Larnaca in 2010, even better when I got 3 weeks extra stay at no cost due to the Iceland volcanic eruptions. Fortunate of flying their A330s back to London. Before their bankruptcy. Liked ;)

    • @aerotravelerNL
      @aerotravelerNL  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow You were lucky indeed. An extra stay of 3 weeks! I've never flown the 'old' Cyprus Airways. So I can't compare both airlines. But the 'new' Cyprus Airways operates as a low-cost airline. The fare includes 1 piece of hand luggage. You've got to pay for the window seat, any checked-in luggage as well as the snacks and drinks. But they provide a good service for a low-cost airline. Actually, the new Cyprus Airways has only bought the right to operate flights under this name. The airline is called Charlie Aviation and it is a subsidiary of S7 Airlines.

      No A330s in the fleet, just two A319s.

    • @RahmanSajid
      @RahmanSajid 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dim Mih Yes, they did have A330’s (the old Cyprus Airways) also sorry for lack of viewing on your channel, I’m 3/4 into my integrated pilot training, so no time I’m afraid except A320 trainings now

    Thank you for this video. I have a question.
    On my flight the cabin bag measures are mentioned 55х40х23 cm Does it include the wheels or it refers to the main body of the luggage. A slight difference in centimeters is crucial for me.

    • @aerotravelerNL
      @aerotravelerNL  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it doesn’t include the wheels. As long as you’ve got a small trolley, you should be fine. Small trolleys are pretty standard. They also offer to check in your luggage for free, if the flight is fully booked.

    • @aerotravelerNL
      @aerotravelerNL  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, that's why they fly to a handful of destinations :-) But service is good for a low-cost airline. At least, that is my experience based on this very short flight.

      Yes, you are right. The airline is owned by S7. They bought the right to use the name of the bankrupt Cyprus Airways.

    Why don't they fly to UK?

    • @aerotravelerNL
      @aerotravelerNL  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I guess, they don't have enough aircraft.

    • @keithdoherty8809
      @keithdoherty8809 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a subsidiary of Russian carrier S7 with a more regional identity flying the usual Athens shuttle ,Tel Aviv Beirut and Thressaloniki routes.
      The UK -Cyprus routes are dominated by the UK and Eire charter and low cost operators and until recently the now bankrupted competing Cypriot carrier Cobalt.
      There is no money to be made for small Cypriot carriers on the UK routes when it takes 9 hours there and back with no UK presence in the market.

      Yes, the aircraft was an Airbus A319. As far as I know, Cyprus Airways still operates a fleet of just two A319s. And there are 144 seats on the A319. #CyprusAirways
