Love the fact that the first thing he did was admit he made a mistake, absolutely love this channel for MDs honesty. Its great to see the whole story, good and bad bits. Also MD your scapes make me so jealous 🤣 I cannot make my tanks look good.

The lotus leaves look fantastic floating on the surface of that tank. I’d like to see it bloom, that’d be so amazeballs!

This scape reminds me of a forest fire with the red plants reaching up and over the hardscape like that. Stunning setup as always!
I really like this tank with having fewer plants which allows the wood to show through and, the best part is, you can really see the beautiful fish!! Great finish.

They have some more royal acaras at the shop, but they are tiny compared to chunks. Might get them and grow them out...

That is one of my favorite that you set up. Love the way it looks.
If you like the red tiger lotus, you should look at getting a Star water lily (Nymphaea stellata). They have different shaped leaves to the tiger lotus, and are a more magenta-y colour, but they also produce blue flowers when they reach the surface!
This has to be one of my favorites. It’s a beautiful tank, looking forward to seeing a future update.
Love this one MD❤ I did a similar middle island look for my 4ft rainbow/angel tank but I put Java and mini anubius on the big pieces of driftwood, tall anubius on small driftwoods at the back and planted crypts.
You may well find that your less than colourful blue acaras will colour up now that the dominant male has gone. It's a fairly normal situation particularly with cichlids that one male will be dominant and the others will show their submissiveness by looking subdued. Once the main man is out of the equation another one will become dominant and display full colouration.
I was thinking this...I hope so.

Thanks MD! That layout is exactly what I imagend for my tank! Keeping "not so rough" cichlids with nice plants is possible but needs some considerations.
With the background color and plant setup this turned out amazing 🔥🔥
Previous version of this tank was beautiful. I personally would have ignored what was going on on the bottom and left it as is (I am not the most proactive aquarium keeper ). But you did a beautiful job on the redo and I like the lower amount of plants to begin with. After seeing how much more stunning Chunks was in the less densely planted tank made me think that having one big beautiful fish in a tank is very appealing. Thanks for all your videos.

Ah ha! I think you have cleared up the mystery for me and my struggle with algae and dirty looking plants!! My peppered cory are constantly digging up the sand and exposing the nutrients layer in the tank. I've managed to clear it up a bit by lowering the light a little and weekly water changes, ugh not fun. I have to say I think this is my favorite tank you've setup, I mean I love the others too but really like this look. I'd love to have access to the hardscape materials you have, wow so many great pieces. Very hard to find around my area and the ones I do find are crazy expensive. Thanks for another great video 😁

Hey MD, would love seeing you do a tank with a couple of altum angels. Those are big fish but look quite elegant.
WE LOVE CHUNKS!! 🐟😍 On a side note, I’ve upgraded my Pygmy Cory and chili rasbora tank (both tanks are right next to each other) and it’s been a struggle getting the remaining 4 Pygmy’s out of the 10G to the 20 long, everyone else is in except for them! They dart away and hide when I walk up so watching you net all the fish in that tank makes me realize I need to remove everything and lower the water level to catch them. That’s the only way…lol
Some fish are jsur like that lol, sometimes you gotta spend hours to catch them
I use 2 nets and a divider
If you haven’t, try a fish trap made from an empty plastic bottle. Works pretty well for Pygmy’s.
Love the variety of different colours and texture and the fish really pop against this 🎉
I think the rescape is better than what you had them in before. Through watching your videos I'm finding that my personal preference is for more visible Hardscape and plant selections that don't end up completely hiding the Hardscape. I wouldn't have worked that out without watching your videos. So thanks for that

At last a different style. Don’t get me wrong, I really like the tanks you’ve done over the last four years, but they’ve been getting very samey. This is a complete departure from the norm and looks amazing. It’s good to see the structure even though you’ve planted the tank. It’s not in danger of being lost under a carpet of plants. This could well be my favourite. Great work MD.

The variety of colours from the rocks, wood and plants makes for an amazing scape. Your best yet. The next time a rescape one of my larger tanks I will try to get a similar colour scape.

I always make mistakes with my tank! I have been trying to find what I truly want for 2 years. I am still a newbie to planted tanks. I just tore down my standard 20 gallon. 3rd time in 8 months! I have a nice very simple bowl in my living room with tiny Golden White cloud minnows. It is great. Love the tank with Chunks that you just redid. I am gping to try something similar on a smaller scale. Perhaps this time it will work. Time will tell! Great inspiration MD!! (GINA)

MD, I’d love to see you make a tank with Severums! They’re one of my favorite cichlids. Some people call them the poor man’s discus but i think they’re gorgeous and aren’t as aggressive as most cichlids.

wowwowow this looks so amazing, the fish stand out like crazy in there! would love to see you do a planted saltwater with full spectrum lights. macroalgae/softcoral tank would be right up your alley especially since you have the ro system for your bluelight saltwater already!
The tank in the middle needs a show fish, so it's Timmy, X, and Chunks. Kind of works to balance the 3 tank set up on the opposite side of the studio

You should try make an amazon rainforest scape and make a rain feature were it rains every so often that would be wicked

A beautiful tank and also enjoyed watching the video especially the background music! 😊 I would have made a deeper substrate since as you explained, chiclids tend to burrow to make a nest!
I think when I'm eventually rescaping my Juwel RIO 240, I'll also put aquasoil in mesh bags. My bandit corys are shifting sand around digging up the courser sand underneath and a bit of the aquasoil.
