A lot of people don't understand that Amazon didn't get big because of books or distribution. It got big with AWS, and the java programming language. Boom. AWS is 1/3 of the internet and Java Coretto is backend software. Don't own the company that works in the building, don't even own the building, own the company that makes the bricks.
I had encouraged a friend to apply when a center opened up in town because Amazon advertised that if you worked there for a year they would pay for college. I was horrified when I watched his body and soul start to breakdown. When he talked about quitting, he was begged not to and moved to a different area... that was hot as hell like where this person was on day 2. I constantly apologize to him because if I had know how brutal the company truly was (I thought Britain was an outlier) I NEVER would have encouraged him to apply.
This is in Europe where they have SOME semblance of labor rights. Its definitely way worse in America and other third world countries.
worked at amazon twice and it was so painful and when I told a higher up that I was in pain they told me to keep working and they'll see if im doing anything wrong and they said I havent been packing "wrongly" and they seemed mad at me that I was in pain since it was my first week, they never offered an ice pack. They straight up were trying to gaslight me the whole time telling me that the pain is from me being unfit for the job (im a 130 pound 19 year old chic) and that its "not amazons fault im in pain" they then said I couldnt work for them since they would need a doctors note that im okay to continue working, like I have the money to pay for a doctors visit are you on crack???
That's totally illegal not to offer you medical aid but when has the law ever stopped Amazon from being absolute ghouls? Also that really sucks that your were subjected to that.
I experienced the same in an abattoir, standing for 10hr shifts, insane foot pain and now permanent damage to my back. And yeh they were just mad that I was injured 😂 psycho management of workers and they made sure to drill into us during the training that we wouldn't be able to claim compensation because people had "abused" that before

@2bornot2b99 yeh they've established a pecking order, it was the same with me they told us the same thing but there was people in management who sat in offices hardly lifting a finger and zero opportunity for us line workers to have that kind of comfort
I remember in retail working at a store where i sat on a chair to use a computer and a colleague of mine said: "They dont want us to sit"
And i answered: "Well if they fire me for that i can get another job, but i cant get a new fucking spine can i?"
Like, what the fuck is wrong with these companies that act like people are machines that dont get tired, dont feel pain etc? Sitting in my situation would change nothing, it was just a few moments to rest my back and feet from being all over the place the whole day.. but the leaders saw it as "bad" if a costumer approached while we were sitting. Fuck that
That shit is extra crazy because I have never been in a store, seen an employee sitting, and thought 'oh i guess this isn't a good store'. i can't imagine anyone who would do that
As someone who drove a truck for amazon (through a company called Lee's Logistics, because of course amazon won't let itself be liable for ANYTHING,) for a few months. We had regular meetings before we were sent on our routes about how people needed to stop pissing in bottles. To the point where they said they were going to start inspecting people's trucks after their routes.

It’s crazy cause I worked for Amazon in the states for like a week and it was the most awful feeling. Being forced to work in the worst conditions. Everyone was like a robot! And the kept me in the freezer for way to long. 😢

i have a friend who only had one shift as a delivery driver and she already had bruises all over her arms because of the amount of deliveries. and when she was almost done, another worker from center called her and told her she had to help another driver finish and she ended up with more of his packages than he did.

Just want to remind everyone that got horrified at the idea of using "vibrate"/shock accessories on people, that those cruel devices are used on dogs here in the US.
Ones for containment aren't cruel. In a rural area it is the best option for dogs to keep them from being lost in other peoples property (who will shoot them) with coyotes or killing themselves on the road while still being able to roam and play. They typically have a "warning" boundary before any kind of vibration/shock that plays an audio cue so the dog knows to go back.
@@fwestah all of these problems can also be solved with proper training. Yes there are "less cruel" versions that exist but there is a reason that many of these devices are banned in Europe. If you cannot be a responsible guardian for your dog then you never deserved them in the first place.

Most likely they would have either found a reason to kick him out ('you are trespassing/endangering the workers') or put him in the offices where it would just be PR/HR reps gaslighting the reporter. Since they 'know' as a reporter he is most likely recording them, the manager wants everything to appear like 'oh we are so okay with you being here :) Don't worry, it's all good
