Tremendous character and actress. In comparison to the later years, the earlier eps were filled with more diverse and interesting inmates all of whom you could believe would have ended up behind bars. Final characters such as Spike, Brumby and Lisa were too middle of the road and not so flawed and complex.
Yes the early eps did have some interesting inmates the only problem was they were never in it long enough compared to the later eps. One of my favourites was Toni Mcnally, her stint was way too short and very much wasted imo.
@@gyobfan22 realise Toni got killed off so not a possibility however would have been great and realistic to see some of the early minor characters brought back in the later series. There would be repeat offenders in a real prison.
@@Ostine8333 Val Lehman explained that the original cast included many of the best Australian theatre actresses who knew how to create believable characters very quickly. The later series were filled with younger actors trained for TV who didn't bring as much depth to their roles and it shows. Glenda aka Rita was a rare exception here and stood out.
Noeline was a fantastic and quirky character,who although Skinny could pack a punch,she was a consummate stirrer and troublemaker but mixec with a great comic touch,shame she only appeared in the early years,that's when the characters were most interesting,her Family made the Beverley Hillbillies look refined,Noeline was the brains in the family,but she suffered tragedy as well losing her Daughter LeeAnne and her brother,she made an unlikable character likable,shame we never saw much interaction between her and Karen Travers the only Prisoner Noeline appeared to like.A great performance by a fun and great actress.
"I'm too crook for all this!" Noeline was amazing, her family were like something out of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I understand the actress was unwell a few years back, but I hope she's better now.
