- Ariel Adams of aBlogtoWatch reviews the new for 2023 Casio G-Shock Mudman GW-9500 watch family. This watch builds on generations of Mudman watches which are designed for mud, water, and dust resistance on top of the already legendary durability of G-Shock timepiece. Price for the new generation Casio G-Shock Mudman GW9500 reference GW9500-1 is $380 USD. Read more on the full aBlogtoWatch review here:

For Military and Police smartwatches or watches with bluetooth are a security risk, and many of those folks will buy a “dumb” watch like this, so that is likely why they left it out. Not to mention much more battery drain which can be an issue when you are deployed/on assignment. I got this watch specifically because it didn’t have Bluetooth. Casio understands its customers.
Any idea about the Multiband 6 antenna? I've read conflicting information as to whether it is an issue or not.
100%. This is exactly the feature list I want.
I think everyone should have this mentality moving forward. Our world is getting more and more complex.
The simple tech is a-ok with me!
The negative display versions of this watch are practically unreadable and only look cool in renders! This one here is the best version! 👍👌
Thanks for the video. Nice watch. You are spot on with the size thing. I am lucky enough to own a carbon fibre frogman which is 53 mm at its widest point. But it is so light to wear I never notice it.
I love mine!!!!!
I’ll take the GX56BB1 or the GXW56BB1JF as all conditions gear anyday over the more expensive more complex models . Just my opinion man.😉🤘
Bring back the Rangeman GBR 1000. This is an upscaled Protrek.
$380 is pretty stiff, considering that its the same module as less expensive G-Shocks. What you are paying for is the large presentation, big time display and overall leg-tingle you get from it. Which is fine if you are willing to drop 4 bills on it.
they missed out on the thermometer...i bet that would be foremost on any ordinary user's mind
Good watch... but the negative display is atrocious you cant see it and this display (positive) is better but still not perfect if you change angle slightly it fades !! Come on Casio
Bluetooth is a huge power drain and that's why they most likely left it out. I'm personally much happier to have Multiband 6.
No, nonsense. The GG-B100 with bluetooth has a 2 year battery, the GW-9500 claims 6-28 months which is worse if anything. No, the reason there is no bluetooth is Casio are lazy MFers, and they lifted this from a very old protrek model.
Don’t want any connectivity w the phone !!!! Amen 🙏🏻
Casio watch buyer since 1984
Bluetooth sucks
@@spirg True. We have smart watches for that. No nonsense watches are always better.
I am not sure why you guys are being intentionally obtuse about bluetooth on G-shocks. You DO NOT have to use bluetooth, it's an option that is there if you want it, and frankly, it makes setting up the watch a breeze. Also, for folks who do not get the atomic clock radio signal reliably, it is very convenient.
I just got one of these for Christmas and the display fades out when viewing at a certain angle. Looking at it straight-on it looks normal, but if I angle the face a little, the numbers fade out, not completely, just look less sharp/dark and more faded.
I like the design. The size is very similar to Rangeman 9400, but the side supports on the backside makes it surrounding the wrist much better compared to 9400 which has a long flat surface on the backside. Definitely an advantage for people who don't have 20+cm wrists!
It actually gives the impression of an updated Rangeman.
Casio should use “Memory in Pixel” displays in all their digital models. It looks so much better.
..but it's slow response is a huge negative. 😊
I have one.. I also have the big thick previous version..with all the crap features I don't need or use..this is the version for me.. thanks for the good concise review!
Finally a ProTrek PRG-340-3 style Dual LCD!!!! for the compass, Baro and Alti complications. Basically the same guts..The Toyota version GW-9500TLC-1 $440.00 is cool. They teamed up with Toyota Land Cruiser and Auto Body..GREAT REVIEW.
Neat
'Anyone find the watch ugly? its huge piece of plastic and small screen?? looks weird or ?
Its an acquired taste
In my opinion it's not ugly. And I don't think the screen is small.
Screw blue tooth waste battery
This is exactly what I'd want in my upgrade to my Rangeman. No bluetooth. No step tracking. No GPS. No heartrate monitor. I don't want those things; I want independent ABC simplicty - and a sunrise/sunset function! - but most especially with the bigger LCD and throwing in the duplex display, what a bonus! This is 100% on my radar now, thank you Casio!
Does have second setting countdown? Biggest thing I do miss from rangeman is ability to set second countdown
is that a 9500 1er or 9500 3er?
1er
2:05 what’s the difference between this and a “mud-master”?
Analog/Digital display on the Mudmaster series
The display needs sorting Casio!
Citizen cz is better smart watch
Im torn on this watch it looks too much like a protrek than an actual mudman, prefer my og rangeman.
