There is a Titanic Hotel in Liverpool(worth looking around) and opposite is a greasy spoon cafe called Sans, which has a good reputation. Homebaked in Anfield is famous for its pies.
That place is just over a 5 min walk from where I live now! But I’m also from originally Wortley in Leeds - I’m sure you live just round the corner from there! There are some good to great places in Liverpool! There is a little Greek version not far from there which is worth a visit too! They aren’t open long though 5-9pm Tuesday to Saturday but also very good but a smaller simpler menu. It’s great to see the similarities and differences between the two!

The number of times I have been to Wescott Factory Meats (I'm from outside of Liverpool), which is two minutes down the road, and never been to that place. That will have to be fixed. Hopefully, you went and stocked up with meaty stuff from Wescott, and I hear the L7 Village Market behind Anar's place is brilliant.
Nice staff., professional and smartly attired, great to see. Price ok for what you had. Huge quality meal, would feed two or three easy. Heaps of meats and salad, well presented. Nice rice with corn lol. Desserts looked great. A well run establishment. From me a 9.
I totally get your phobia of sweetcorn because I have a similar hatred of pineapple. But, it really is rather nice imho, and I would recommend some hypnotherapy to see if you can't overcome your phobia. Worth a go - it helped me get off a 40 a day cigarette habit many years ago!
