I have been following the Laos train for some time now and I learn something new every video. You two have a nice, intelligent sense of humor. I read the railway has 75 tunnels covering 47% of the route. It sounds like from you most of the tunnels are in the northern portion. China owns 70%. I think and hope it will be economically successful for Laos. The second class seats looked nice enough and the cabin did not seem crowded. Your English is very understandable. There is no mining activity in boten. Just the road is not paved or damaged by heavy truck. That is why it is dusty

I am heading with my family to Boten, just for being there. My father with his Thai (Isan) Wife will come with us, they live in Nong Khai. Lets see , only 3 month from now.

Nice but there nothing much in Boten. Unless you want to cross border to China. Much better you make a trip to Luang Prabang. And you can go tru the Mekong River to some interesting places.

If no one is checking the ticket, some people will buy ticket from Place A to Place B but travel to Place F. They need to check to prevent some passengers from traveling longer than what they paid for.

It's a pity that you didn't do enough homework about boten as stated in the video. This is the Laos-China Special Economic Zone, and the main customers are Chinese people entering Laos from mainland China. These hotels, like many Chinese hotels, don't have their actual prices exactly as indicated on the boards.

I am so glad the hotel eventually worked out for you. The cab driver's advice ultimately was the best. Nice room and view. Such a bargain, really. I imagine it beat the other one that was sold out.
