I think your tuts are the best but in this one I hit a snag. When I go to gradient to fill the tear, the tear disappears! I have tried the toolbox and the toolmenu. I have tried this with the tear layer on top activated and the girl layer on top and the tear layer activated. But nothing worked. I use GIMP 2.10.14
That's sucks 😧. I have made the tutorial myself, but it worked, so I have no idea what goes wrong. Sorry... Make sure that the previous step looks the same as in the video and make sure that all the options and also the fg/bg color are similar to the ones in the video... But that is the only thing I can think of... (You can try however one of the other blend modes.) Please let me know how you are doing. Best, Jan.
Hi Jake Edison! Thank for taking the time to leave a comment. When you use the gradiënt tool to fill the selected tears, you can make a darker gradiënt as in the video. Then try out another mode for this layer You can also try to fill both tears, when they are selected, with the bucket fill tool and the black foreground color. Play a bit with the opacity. The dropshadows can also be made with less opacity, so they to are darker. When you make the trail of the tears, you can also play with the opacity to make them darker. I think, when you make the black not totally dark, and add the glimmerlights later on, it might be what you want. Anyway, let me know if you succeed ... ;-) Regards, Jan, GW.
