Olly when you get the new ram back ...close it up when not in use..it only takes a minute to put in the pin and saves it rusting.

If you are worried about compaction you should change that dinky roller for something around 8, 10 meters.

Blooming heck £4K for replacing parts of the roller. You’ve done the right thing here by not going ahead with it. Just get the hydraulic rod repaired. Also, I think a new bucket would be a wise invest for the farm plus improves the welfare of cows as well as health. Keep up the great work.

Sounds as though you have sorted the ram now, but my mate had a ram replaced a few months ago in the Norwich area. I'm afraid I can't recall the name of the firm at present, but there are people out there as you'll know. If the worst came to the worst (and an experiment) try forming a gaitor over the ram. An oversized fertilizer bag secured on the ram at both ends. Doesn't have to be pretty but out of the way when you need to fold up. Too loose it will foul. Food for thought!!

Saw someone use JB weld on rust spots on a ram - mix it up smeared it on sanded it back all spots gone ! Wasn’t as bad as that one though

Feb 2021 Rollex620 New was £10k in 1994 they were £4k some genuine true info there sir. Things increase in price weither we like it or not. Leaving them rollers outside you take your chances. Ram should have been covered in Grease if left out.
