    I love living in Shreveport as a kid, so I’m glad to call them home. Shreveport is my first home and always will be.

    Barksdale is in Bossier City.... the Long-Allen bridge is known to most from the area as the Texas Street Bridge.......remember Texas is a suburb of Shreveport!

    • @JBBrickman
      @JBBrickman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually in the present day Barksdale may be surrounded by Bossier city, Shreveport’s largest suburb, but it’s not always been that way. When the federal government was looking to build Barksdale so where in the U.S., Shreveport stepped up and offered the land. The land that Barksdale sits on was then purchased by and incorporated into the city of Shreveport. When they were ready to build the Air Force Base it was transferred to the federal government. And now the land does not belong to any city or even state, it is now federal land.

    Next time in Bossier, cruise La 3105; aka Airline Dr. It starts at Barksdale Blvd and once you get near I-20 to a little past I-220, it will test your patience. From there it has grown all the way up to the town of Benton with plenty of land left to be developed. I should mention once you reach Benton the name goes from Airline Dr to Palmetto Rd and brings you to La hwy 3. Bossier City and Parish are the fastest growing in the state right now. Thanks for all your good trips!

    No, Bossier is home for barksdale.. the bridge is known as the Texas st bridge not the long bridge.

    • @504RoadTrips
      @504RoadTrips  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's one of several bridges in the state named for Huey P. Long. That's the official name of it.

    • @helloyall4355
      @helloyall4355 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      504RoadTrips Yes the bridge even has Huey P Long on it, but it is referred to the " East Texas street bridge" I lived there for many years and every thanksgiving week and 4th of July all the news outlets will say "Fireworks display along the Texas street bridge and it will be closed for traffic."

    • @504RoadTrips
      @504RoadTrips  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Me Myself and Irene I’m not doubting you at all. The point was that every bridge that Huey Long built bad his name on it. I think there were 7 originally and a couple have been demolished and replaced. We’ve covered 4 of them. I’m pretty sure the only one consistently referred to as the Huey Long Bridge is the one on the edge of New Orleans. The one in Baton Rouge is typically called “The Old Bridge” and the one in Morgan City is called the “Old Hwy 90 Bridge” I believe.

    • @helloyall4355
      @helloyall4355 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      504RoadTrips Yes I know all of that.. I know there are several Huey P Long bridges.. and yes I know the Texas St bridge is officially named the Huey P Long bridge. But my point is- even on Google maps and to every local in that area, it's known as the Texas street bridge. I enjoy your videos but I had to inform you on this particular bridge..

      We drove through one of the most blighted parts of Alexandria. You can find the same thing in New Orleans or Shreveport (or any other major city) if you look hard enough for it.

      @@gothicanimegirlsz3443 You're right about that. I saw on a list last year that Alexandria has the highest violent crime per-capita in the United States. But it doesn't appear on most lists because the population is under 100,000 or 50,000 depending on the list (current population is only 46,180).
