    It’s not even like the catch was remotely sketchy, a little off but still made it, it was literally perfect. Right in the middle, straight up and down, perfect deceleration.. it was just perfect.

      I don't even think it was actually off. The first "miss" was intentional to be able to crash in front of the tower if needed, the system sensed it was ok and then went sideways.

    • @Fooney1
      @Fooney1 หลายเดือนก่อน +62

      But it wasn't off, it was supposed to be off before the final catch to make sure it had enough fuel to not destroy the launchpad. That sidestep at the end was prefect.

    • @benjy_3264
      @benjy_3264 หลายเดือนก่อน +22

      Yh I’m fairly sure it was off on purpose until it went down to 3 engines. Once it was good on just 3 it moved across and went for the catch. In that sense it was even more perfect that you claim 😂

Even little details like the vent gas getting caught up more and more as the booster falls and the atmosphere thickens. I understand it all, but seeing it all is art.

    • @Nikarkos
      @Nikarkos หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      @@marvinmusiic Yea, its just a weight thing. The plan is to eventually design it in a way where the hot staging ring is not required. Reguarding the timestamp, they are pumping some of the remaining methane and oxygen thru the engines without igniting them to perform small course corrections. If you look carefully, some maneuvering thrusters further up the rocket are used as well. Igniting the engines would provide way too much thrust for those small course corrections they are going for here and add more complexity which is why they are only using the gas.

    As expected you've once again made space travel an art form. There's something transcendent in that hot stage ring sequence watching the booster thrusters changing attitude to avoid a potential collision. With the music...speechless...bravo and thank you.

    Am I the only one wondering what I’m seeing at 11:31 ? At first I was like “is that the blimp?” Lol. Awesome videos!! I kind of heard about this a couple weeks ago, but just yesterday realized what actually was happening here!! Holy cow!! I had no idea! I can’t believe I didn’t even know about the Starship program😮. This is amazing!!! Thank you for all your awesome videos…. I’m catching up and learning all this cool stuff!! I got to enjoy a total solar eclipse with my adult kids this year….. that was tops in my life. Now I hope to see one of these launches someday! Omg! Again, all your videos are amazing! Thank you for the tours and the explanations!!! Cuz I’m the kind who always has more questions… lol Thank you to all the amazing people who shared the awesome footage of this EPIC event!!!! I’m hooked now, and will be awaiting the next launch!

      The blimp is actually a border patrol blimp to monitor marine traffic to and from Mexico (it’s right on the border), pretty wild it’s in our shots!

    Starship 5 has proven to be quite the marvel in the spacefaring community, hasn't it? Not only did it manage to kiss the sky and dance among the stars, but it also pulled off a move straight out of a sci-fi flick by having its booster caught by the now-famous 'chopsticks' of the Mechazilla tower. Imagine the precision, the sheer audacity of design! It's like watching a giant, metal ballet where the dancer not only sticks the landing but does so by being caught mid-air.

      Beyond scifi.
      A fiction movie would have it land on fins or legs.
      SpaceX: We don't need any legs.
      Nothing I've seen from Star Trek, Star Wars, Kubrick, what have you, has pulled this off. A brilliant solution.
      I would absolutely LOVE to know the genius person who dreamed this up.
